The Devils and the Demons

In the realm of Egrande 117's Reality 2, two races shared existence - the Devils and the Demons.

The Devils were masters of magic and manipulation. They bore an uncanny resemblance to humans but were distinguished by their large bat wings, spanning two to three meters, their distinctively pointed tails of various shapes, and horns curving from their skulls. Blessed with the gift of flight and intelligence far surpassing average humans, they nevertheless fell short when it came to the raw power of the Demons.

The Demons were a race considered cursed, and their existence echoed that of plants in certain ways. Reproduction amongst the Demons was asexual, with each newborn blessed with unrivaled strength but saddled with a stark absence of intellect, ranking lower than the simplest of beasts. The newborn Demons, often compared to inanimate objects, would not move for centuries. Only upon maturity would their souls begin to form - until then, they remained soulless husks, devoid of the capability to wield even the most basic of magic.

The Devils, upon observing the Demons' evolution towards sentience, reacted out of fear. They hunted and enslaved the Demons before they could attain full consciousness, fearing that a sentient Demon population could wipe out their own kind. Viewing themselves as the world's rightful rulers, the Devils used the unintelligent Demons as labor for strenuous tasks, mining operations, and other burdensome work while they reveled in luxury.

This hierarchy was overthrown when a hidden family of Demons gained sentience and rose against their oppressors. Under their influence, the lower Demons initiated a rebellion, extinguishing ninety percent of the Devil population in a mere thirteen days. On the fourteenth day, the Demon King, driven by soaring ambitions that their world could not contain, did the unthinkable. He crossed the portal located at the southernmost part of the continent, marking the first time Demons set foot into Reality 1.
