Chapter 13: Hunt Day

I still had 3 or 4 hours to attend the class with Lyra.

I had to start raising my level' I thought, deciding that I would go into the hunting field.

I decided to take a look at my status window to see how far I was from the next level.

The only change I've noticed since I last opened it is 5 Domination Xp from Domination System and 250 extra System points.

'Interesting', the notifications matched the time I squeezed Seraph.

It was becoming increasingly clear that one needed to engage in sexual activities to receive points.

'But it still remains to be understood how many points each thing can give and how they measure it' I thought before putting these thoughts to the back of my mind as I was moving deeper into the forest.

I drew my bow, to my right was a medium sized bear, smaller than the ones I hunted in my month of hunting with Kurt, Zin and the hunting party.

I took advantage of a good angle and released my arrow imbued with a water magic capable of weakening the skin and allowing the arrow to penetrate deeper.

It penetrated its neck as it let out a horrible scream.

The experience was really good.

When I hunted with the group, I wasn't able to use magic and the experience had to be split between the 5 of us, but now, 'I should be able to level up to level 10 in less than 1 week' I thought euphorically.

To evolve, one needs to level up, to go from Low Goblin to High Goblin, they need to reach level 25, which for them, beings without talents, intelligence or high physical abilities is a real challenge. 

For me, because I am already a High Goblin, leveling up to level 25 does not bring evolution, I must reach level 50 to evolve to HobGoblin.

Some may think that being Low Goblin is not so bad, as long as they reach level 25 they can level up to High Goblin and then at level 50 to HobGoblin.

But between their short life expectancy, and short talent that even after evolution slows them down. For example, at level 6 are able to hunt the bear, they, at level 30, i.e. after evolving, unless they awaken a talent by evolving have no chance against this bear. 

They need 25 levels just to stand on the same starting block as us.

Some might think that the same thing happens to me with those who are HobGoblins, but it's not true, it only happens with beings of low consciousness.

In my case, if there is someone with the same talents and abilities as me, but they are HobGoblin, they will have a slight racial advantage, but when they reach level 50 it disappears with evolution, even for some it's better, because HobGoblins don't evolve to level 50 and don't have the opportunity to receive new talents. It is true, however, that they usually receive more and better birth talents as compensation.

I headed towards the bear corpse, 'something is wrong', I felt the hairs on my body rise just before I instinctively jumped to my right.

I heard a roar and saw four large claws tear out the tree behind where I had previously stood. 

If it had hit me, I wouldn't be here' I thought before firing a magic imbued arrow at it that hit the target, but only slightly penetrated the skin on the back of its shoulder.

From this position, I could see the whole body, it was a bear, however nothing like the previous one. It was at least 2 times bigger than the other one, it was easily 13 feet, compared to my 4.9 feet, it was a mouse against a cat.

I tried to fire another arrow but halfway through I had to retreat to escape the claws of its long arm. 

Understanding the difficulties of this battle if I didn't stop the bear I grabbed my two daggers and propelled myself with the tree behind me to propel myself towards the bear, it used its claws to catch me but I let myself fall backwards stretching my back along the ground, in turn I used water magic on the back of my body to keep my momentum sliding as if the ground was a slide, I quickly reached between its two imposing legs, each one the size of my body and tire with all my strength its left leg, leaving two long wounds on it.

The bear let out a cry of pain and anger before closing his right leg intact with his left leg and catching me.

'Shit' I knew if I didn't escape I was dead, but the bear, more cunning than I assumed, also knew that, quickly positioning his body to prevent me from escaping.

Seeing the bear stand in front of me, understanding it was all or nothing, I grabbed my bow and imbued 90% of my remaining magic into an arrow. Its large mouth, capable of swallowing half a body in one bite, was getting closer and closer to me.

I waited a moment before, so that the bear would be unable to react and release my arrow.

The bear watched helplessly as my arrow entered its mouth and then pierced its neck.

The bear did not even have time to scream before it fell on top of me and died.

I barely managed to get out, not wanting to be crushed by a 13-foot bear.

I was happily surprised by the notification.

I thought it was a Giant bear, I was very lucky.

Most beasts have a size rating, which generally reflects their strength. The bear starts with little, which is 100 Xp, to medium like the one I killed before, 250 Xp, to big which gives 500 Xp. Then follows Giant which gives 1000 Xp, 10 times a little and finally there are some animals capable of growing further, the Behemoth, capable of doubling the height of a Giant, and give 2000 Xp, but you have to understand that it is preferable to cross with 10 Giant than with a Behemoth, a Behemoth only gives twice as much as a Giant but it is 10 times more terrible.

Luckily, it was a young Behemoth' I thought with relief. If it had been an adult Behemoth, we're easily talking 26 feet, even the most formidable warriors of the tribe would think twice before attacking an adult Behemoth in a group. That's how terrible they are.

I decided to check my status window to see my progress.

I've practically raised what I wanted to this week alone today' I thought to myself before returning to the tribe to ask for help to take the Behemoth bear to skinning and eat the bear.
