Looking For A New Master

Although he had a rough start, Rotten Since Birth has decided to keep his name for now. He also did not feel like he needs to be degraded into xxx's nickname of Yanyan. If given the opportunity, he would probably wait for someone else to give him a better name. No matter how hard he thought, he couldn't come up with a better name for himself. Perhaps he just wasn't creative enough.

Still, he was curious. Why couldn't he do anything at all? The most he could do was blink every once in a while and twitch every now and then.

It had been two hours. The female that tags along with him is called True Beauty Inside and the person behind her (assuming she's having the same problem as him) is nicknamed Chichi by Yanyan. From their conversation in their private message (he figured that black screens are their private messages, hence why he never saw anyone else with it) he knew that Chichi is Yanyan's big sister while Yanyan is apparently a middle-schooler. He had no idea what some of their words even meant but he knew it must be some sort of title.

It was boring, not doing anything for a couple of hours but then he was intrigued by something.

"Chichi, I need to go now, mom needs me to help her cook. You need to study for your college exams too, right?"

That sweet voice leaving his mouth is unbelievably incredulous, especially since he had leveled up to level 8 now and he was using a very manly armor meant for the fighter class. The mental shiver shook him for a few seconds.

"Ah, that's right. Then, say hi to mom for me! See ya, Yanyan!"

The voice left True Beauty Inside's lips before there was a weird feeling. The vague feeling of being helplessly unable to do anything left him and he stood still. The world fades to gray for a moment before another sound rings in his head.

Ding!

"Thank you for your hard work as xxx's in-game avatar! You will now enter the avatar-only mode. Note that you will be invisible to the avatars currently in the work-mode and their masters and there will be no experience points gained in this mode. The system will always notify you if your master returned and wishes to log in."

This time, it wasn't only the voice but also a screen in front of him. It read "Avatar Management System for [GLORY]" and the announcement it previously read. Below it was some links and a strip of tabbed options. The option "Inbox" is marked with a red dot and so he touched it with curiosity. The semi-transparent screen was unexpectedly solid but soft. It was like the sensation of touching a wall covered in velvet (which he knew what it felt like because his master had made him crash to the wall several times in a boss room).

The screen switched to a list of messages he got. There was the read message from the system and an older message with the title "New Avatar Informational Message" and marked as unread. He pressed his finger on the soft screen again. The message from when he first opened his eyes reappeared and below it is an attachment that read "Rules and Regulations" along with a "Beginner's Guide to Being An Avatar".

He evaluated the latter to be more useful than the earlier so he pressed the link again.

A smaller screen popped up beside the main screen with the words "Loading the World-Wide Forum...." blinking on it. Afterward, a page filled with basic knowledge appeared. There was some information and he read the world story from here.

The more he read, the more helpless he felt.

Since he was stuck in this game, he might as well as get used to it. The one section he was most helpless about was the name section.

"NAME PROBLEMS: Not all masters are created equal. Those of you who were birthed with absurd names will just have to deal with it. You can ask others to use a nickname but the system won't approve of any name change."

Either way, his heart still felt aggrieved yet slightly comforted. He supposed there were others like him too. He was too lazy to read the rest and thus pressed the home button (the guide briefly mentioned navigating the forum) and was met with the big bolded letters of the trending thread.

"LOOKING FOR A NEW MASTER!! ANYONE ALLOWED TO JOIN DISCUSSION!!!"

It works that way too?!?
