Chapter 4.5 | The Talk

Steven knocks on Rey's door anxiously waiting for a response. It was midnight and Steven was worried Rey would be asleep. The crickets chirped in the dead of silence. Finally, footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door drawing closer. The door slowly creaked open and Rey peeked through and then opened the door fully to greet Steven.

"Ah, Steven! You scared me!" Rey said with a relieved exhale. "I thought it was some faction in the front of my door ready to take my stuff!"

"Oh sorry, it's just me and my new friend Jel," Steven said turning around and pointing out Jel.

"Ah, so that's your friend? My name's Rey nice to meet Ya." Rey greeted Jel

"Oh, my name's Jel and I'm glad to meet you too," Jel said

"Anyways come on in, you came here for help right?" Rey said moving out the doorway to allow the boys to enter.

"Yeah, we did. I have a lot of things to ask." Steven said heading inside the house with Jel following behind. Rey shuts the door behind him, and they all take a seat on the couch.

"So, what's up Steven?" Rey asks.

"Well, I and Jel came back from the market and, when we got back some guy wearing a dragon mask and samurai armor attacked us," Steven said. "We were able to fight him off, but he managed to burn down our shelter."

"I see that sucks," Rey replied. "And you came here because you think that the person belongs to a faction?"

"That's exactly what I'm thinking, however, I don't know why they would target us. We haven't interacted with any of them or have done anything to piss anyone off." Steven added. "We managed to safely recover all of our belongings though."

"That's great" Rey smiled. "Most factions don't need a reason to do something to cause violence or destruction. They do it just to gain attraction or gain some type of profit off of doing those things."

"I see. So, there's nothing we can do?" Steven asked with a disappointed tone.

"No, there is something you can do," Rey said lifting the disappointment off of Steven. "You can create your faction, and you can fight back."

"Really? I can do that?" Steven asks standing up from excitement.

"Yes, you just have to find the Main Hub and fill out a registration form to apply for a Faction," Rey explained.

"GREAT! Let's do that tomorrow Jel!" Steven said clenching his fist with determination. "We're going to show those bastards a taste of their own medicine."

"Right." Jel smiled.

"You can sleep here for the night. and in the morning, I'll serve you two some breakfast" Rey insisted.

"Thanks a lot, Rey. You're a great help." Steven smiled.

"it's the least I can do." Rey smiled back.
