In truth, checking the surveillance footage was completely unnecessary. It would only further expose Tang Tiantian's shameful actions in front of everyone at the Fu family mansion, making her humiliation even more public.
She couldn't afford to lose face like this.
"Brother Fu, I'm sorry, I was wrong. I just wanted to find an opportunity to kick this arrogant woman out of here," Tang Tiantian began to cry, tears streaming down her face as she lowered her head in a show of contrition.
Gu Yining, barely able to contain her anger, pointed at her and snapped, "You keep calling him 'Brother Fu,' yet you didn't hesitate for a second to poison him! Do you have any idea how dangerous it was? If you had used too much of that senna leaf, combined with his weak stomach, it could have caused a gastric perforation or internal bleeding! Do you even grasp the severity of what you've done?"
As Gu Yining's words echoed through the room, Fu Hanyan's eyes narrowed, focusing solely on her. Her stern, protective stance, as she scolded Tang Tiantian, made her seem like she genuinely cared about him.
Meanwhile, Fu Hanyan, the one who had nearly been poisoned, found himself unconsciously smirking.
Tang Tiantian, still mired in self-pity, continued her complaints while attempting to apologize, "It's all because of you! Why did you steal Brother Fu from me? Why did you marry him? I'd rather he liked men than be with you!"
"You're delusional if you think that just because I married him, it would've been different for you. Even if I wasn't his wife, the Fu family would still never choose someone as despicable as you," Gu Yining retorted, her voice sharp and cutting.
Her words ruthlessly crushed whatever last shred of hope Tang Tiantian had. If Tang Tiantian had been a capable and honorable person, maybe there would have been a real competition between them. But sadly, she was just an arrogant woman relying on petty tricks.
"No matter how despicable I am, I could never be worse than you! You must've schemed for a long time to climb into Brother Fu's bed. At least I'm better than a woman who sells her body like you!" Tang Tiantian spat out her venomous words, her anger completely unchecked.
Slap!
The sound of a crisp slap rang out, striking Tang Tiantian's fair face.
Gu Yining stood frozen in shock. She hadn't even raised her hand—Fu Hanyan had slapped her first.
"Brother Fu… you hit me?" Tang Tiantian's eyes filled with disbelief. She had been spoiled her entire life and never once had someone dared to lay a hand on her.
Up until now, Fu Hanyan had always treated her with indifference, cold and distant but never violent. This slap shattered that distance, along with any illusions she had left.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she whimpered, "It hurts… Brother Fu, how could you hit me? All because of this woman? I'm going to tell Grandpa!"
Fu Hanyan calmly retracted his hand, his expression unmoved. "Go ahead. But a woman who tries to poison his grandson has no place in the Fu family. You can leave now."
Gu Yining watched Fu Hanyan's cold, ruthless demeanor and couldn't help but feel uneasy. If he could be so heartless to a girl who had grown up in the Fu family, what would he do to her if she ever crossed him? Would he show her the same merciless treatment? Perhaps worse—an end so brutal she wouldn't even have a body left to bury.
The thought sent chills down her spine, and cold sweat started to form on her forehead. Fu Hanyan, with his calculating and cruel nature, was definitely not someone to be trifled with.
Tang Tiantian sobbed, clutching her burning cheek as she hurriedly fled from the Fu family mansion. The bags she had brought with her that morning had barely been unpacked, and it seemed they wouldn't be needed after all.
Fu Hanyan, without a trace of pity, ordered, "Someone, throw her things out of the mansion. From now on, she is not allowed to set foot in this place again."
After issuing his command, he turned and, clutching his stomach in discomfort, headed back to his bed. The rest of the people in the room quietly dispersed, sensing that their presence was no longer required.
Gu Yining hesitated, thinking about reaching out to help him. But she stopped herself. Fu Hanyan was a proud man—this situation must have embarrassed him deeply. After all, as the eldest son of the prestigious Fu family, being reduced to a man suffering from food poisoning because of a scheming woman would only invite ridicule if word got out.
Without saying anything, Gu Yining went to the medicinal room to gather herbs she had prepared earlier to help nourish his body and soothe his stomach. She even planned to brew the medicine herself.
Just as she was about to leave the room, Fu Hanyan called out to her, "Wait a moment."
