Joy Parker's gaze withdrew from Samuel Johnson, and as she rubbed her still aching neck and was about to turn toward the bathroom, she heard Samuel Johnson suddenly roar, "Get down!"
"Bang!"
Joy hadn't had time to react when the man knocked her to the ground, and a bullet whizzed over her head, burying itself fiercely into the wall.
The shot missed, and there was no follow-up gunfire. Amidst an indescribable heaviness, Joy was unsettled, gasping for air violently.
Samuel Johnson rolled from the ground to a spot out of view from the window before standing up again.
His arm had been grazed by the impact with the floor; he looked at the abrasion and murmured a soft "Tsk."
Joy stood up from the ground, still immersed in the shock of the event, unable to fully regain her composure.
If Samuel hadn't pushed her down, that bullet would have hit her squarely between the eyes.
