Chapter 17

Diana's P. O. V

"Mi Amor... Makela"he said and my heart sank almost immediately after he said that to me. I got off his laps, almost loosing my balance and falling down due to shock.

"It's funny....I've loved her for years... years....but...she can't be mine"he said, this side of Pablo hurt, it hurt more than anything Michael could ever do to me.

I could feel my heart being stabbed a million times by flaming knives.

I backed away from him, and pushed the door open. I ran out feeling like shit, definitely my first ever heartbreak. And worst of all, I can't even get myself to cry. I can feel all the emotions all the hurt inside....I want to express it so badly but I just can't.

I run till my legs can't move anymore, I fall on the sidewalk, I can hear people murmur, I can feel their harsh stare on me. But I couldn't care less. I touched my cheeks, but it was dry, no tear had escaped my eye.

I stayed there for God knows how long, till a car horn pulled me out of my daze.

I looked at the car, it was rich and exotic, very expensive. It kept on horning, I stop up, and walked up to the car.

The passenger's seat window rolled down, the inside was incredibly advanced and smelled nice.

The first thing I noticed is the sharp blue eyes the owner has. He stared at me strictly and I got very intimidated and self-conscious.

"Don't you go to Hall of Fame Academy?"he asked judging from my uniform.

"Yes Sir"I said, he eyed me again and I placed my hands over my chest region. "Get in"he said.

I was stunned by his sentence, and almost lost it. "Excuse me?"I asked, "my kids go there, get in, you're already late"he said.

I looked at his fingers, no wedding ring, I couldn't be too sure of his sincerity.

"I'll just walk sir"I said and turned to leave, "I said get in, You must know my kids they're popular"he said.

"Don't let me intimidate you"he added and opened the door, I stared at the opened seat, then sat on it.

"Thank you"I said while fastening my seatbelt, still not sure who his kids were though, but I had a rough guess.

He drove off, I felt uneasy, the car was very silent, he didn't turn the radio on and I was scared to turn it on.

"What was a girl your age doing on the sidewalk?"he asked addressing the elephant in the room.

I didn't think it wise to babble my problems to a stranger, especially not this silly one. I just looked at the road, pretending I didn't hear him.

"I have a daughter"he said, trying to make me warm up to him I think. "It's just...I like someone and he doesn't like me back sir"I said and felt extremely nervous.

"Aren't you too young to have a boyfriend?"he asked, "I don't have one...sir"I said in my defence.

"Don't, you should have priorities instead, your studies that should be your focus"he said and took a familiar turn.

"I don't know why kids these days don't realize what's truly important"he said under his breath, and I felt like trash. I really did. But he was right, even if he was being a bitch about it.

"Does your daughter have a boyfriend?"I asked out of curiosity, he glanced at me then focused back on the road.

"No...I don't know"he said the other part with sincerity, awakening my curiosity.

"Why is that sir?"I asked, we were getting closer to my school and I wouldn't be so late. This guy must be my guardian angel.

"I can't waste my time, I have work, that's my priority"he said.

"I don't know why parents these days don't realize what's truly important"I found myself muttering to myself. He stopped the car, fear gripping me immediately.

"You have some nerve saying that to my face, am not the one found Laying on the sidewalk under the sun"he said. Striking a nerve. But it was a harsh truth.

"You're right"I said, and the awkward silence continued, I wondered if he'd ever drive the car or if we'd just stay like this.

"What's your name?"

"Diana, Diana Netwood"I said, he seemed astonished to hear my name, for some odd reason, he broke into a smirk. He started the car and we were off again, my mind was in bits and pieces all over the car.

"Boys in high school all want one thing from girls"he said and I placed my hands over my ears, no way was I going to get a sex speech from a guy I don't know.

"And it's your job to know how to play your cards right"he said. "Once you do, the game will be in your control"he added and parked outside my school. I opened the door and stood outside the car, about to leave.

"Thank you sir"I said, he started the engine, I turned to leave, but turned and looked at him.

"What's your name sir?"I asked, "Xander"he said. "Girls my age all want just one thing from their fathers"I said. I wanted just one thing from my father, the man who wasn't around.

"You just need to know how to play your cards right"I said and winked at him before turning to leave.

He drove off in top speed away from the school gate as if he was avoiding someone. I gripped my bag tighter and walked into the school.

"That's her..."

"She even showed up today.... shameless..."

"Such a slut...."

I heard these murmurs from different directions, my heart skipped a beat in fear. What was going on? Why were people pointing at me? All eyes were on me all of a sudden.

Thankfully the bell rang!

People flocked to their classes, slamming their lockers and moving in pairs.

Michael's team ran out of the boys locker room, to their first period. I heard coach said first and last class are mandatory to stay on the team.

I looked around for Michael, but he wasn't with them, West also wasn't with them. I took a bold step and walked into the boys locker room once all the jocks were out of sight.

Fortunately, they all left for class, leaving their captain all by himself, sitting down, looking like a fucking mess. Did I actually disturb his beauty sleep?.

"Get outta town! Did I actually ruin your beauty sleep?"I teased, trying to lighten up the mood. But I did not expect the next line of action from Michael.

He stood up and In seconds we were against his locker, why do I get this feeling of de ja vû.

"Hey! So is this another self defense exercise?"I asked, once I was in control of my senses again.

"Why?"he asked, in a somewhat whisper, his tone wasn't like something he's used on me before. It wasn't arrogant, annoying, angry...it almost sounded, heartbroken.

"I don't...."

"Don't fucking lie to me!"he said getting frustrated, my heart started pounding, I suddenly felt very nervous.

"What's gotten into you? What's wrong?"I asked staring at him, he looked like he was about to rip me in two.

"You couldn't just fall...you just had to have it your way"he said under his breath, puzzling me. "Michael...what...did"he cut me off by saying something under his breath. Something I did not catch.

He let go of me, I held my wrists, and headed towards him, I stood in front of him, not willing to let him go.

"Don't make me feel any worse than I already do okay. Just fucking tell me why you're so damn upset"I said trying not to snap at him.

"Move"was all he said back atm me, but I wasn't going to give him what he wanted. "No! Not till you tell me the reason"I said, determined to get the truth out of him. Even if I had to get pinned against his locker again!

He opened his mouth to say something, but just shoved me aside, I fell down, but he just walked away from me, without looking back.

"Did I just get dumped?"
