Chapter 17: Accident

Angel's POV:

"Marcus what do you think of this?" I asked, holding up a tank top. He looked at me and frowned. "My baby is not wearing that." He said. "Oh come on. Keisha would LOVE this." I said, looking at the shirt. "Yeah and all the guys would LOVE staring at her tits." He said. I glared at him. "What, you mad you'll some competition?" I asked, playfully. He mocked me. We were out and about talking while Keisha and Lucky was at my parent's house. It was a nice house. Keisha wanted Lucky to vouch for Marcus so Dad wouldn't be so hard on him. Then again, I don't know no Dad who isn't protective over his daughter. I looked at Marcus. He did look a bit upset. "Marcus what's up?" I asked, curiously.

He looked at me. "What do you mean?" He asked. "Your not your usual happy, joking self." I said. He sighed. "Yeah something has been bothering me." He said. "What is it?" I asked. He looked at something behind me. I turned around but didn't see anyone I knew. "What's wrong?" I asked. He shook his head. "Nothing. Come on." He said, as he pulled me out the store. We went down the escalator and over to the door. "Hold on. I gotta pee." I said, as I went to the bathroom. I looked under the stalls and found one empty. I did my business and came out. I paused when I heard angry muttering on the other side. "Elizabeth you have no right to talking about her. You don't know her." Marcus said. Who is he talking to? "Lucky chose her, not you bitch." He said.

"Fine Marcus. Be like that. I hope something bad happens to you and that bitch." Said a voice. Then I heard footsteps leaving. I walked out and looked around for Marcus. I saw him by the doors, looking pissed. "Hey what happened?" I asked, walking up to him. "Hmm? What are you talking about?" He asked. "There was someone here. You were just arguing with them." I said. "Oh. Yeah. Um, don't worry about it." He said. "Marcus bro, talk to me. We're friends aren't we?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah Angel." He said. "Then who was that?" I asked. He sighed. "An old enemy whose back in town." He said. "Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked. He shook his head. "Come on. I'm hungry." He said. We walked out the mall and over to the parking lot.

Marcus started the car and drove off. I glanced at him time to time. He's really been changing a lot lately since Keisha cheated on him. He's unsure of people right now. It's understandable he's not as trusting as he used to be. "Oh look. There's McDonald's. We could eat there." Marcus said. "Okay." I said. Then I gasped. My vision blurred and I saw nothing but white. "Angel?" Marcus called. He called out to me. His voice grew further and further away. Then I saw it. Me and Marcus crashing into another car. The car flipped over and into a building. Marcus covering me with his body, protecting me. I looked down at him and he was a bloody mess. "ANGEL!!!" Marcus screamed. Then I snapped out of it.

I gasped. "Marcus, stop the car." I said. "What? Why?" Be asked. "We're gonna get into an accident." I said. "What? Angel I never been in an accident before." He said. "Marcus please just stop the car." I said. "Okay." He said. He pressed on the brakes but nothing happened. He did it again and nothing happened. "What the fuck? What the hell is wrong with my brakes yo?!" Marcus said. "Marcus!! Car!!" I cried. He looked up and tried to swerve the car but it was too late. We slammed into the car and the car flipped over and over. I screamed out in pain. Marcus undid his seatbelt and covered me with his body. The car flipped and flipped before halting. It crashed into the side of a building.

I laid there still, not sure of what to do. Pain shot through my body, stinging my right arm and leg. I felt pain in my back. I looked up. "Marcus? Marcus? Please tell me your okay." I said. I looked over at him. He was motionless. His eyes closed. His clothes bloody from the accident. I screamed. "MARCUS?! Marcus get up!!!" I yelled. I crawled over to him. Some people helped moved the car off of us. They pulled me and him out. "Someone call 911!!" Someone yelled. I crawled over to Marcus and held his head. "Marcus please wake up!!" I cried. I pulled out my phone and called Keisha. "Aye yo Angel. What's up?" She asked. "Keisha we have a problem." I said. I began to explain the situation but I was talking too fast.

"Whoa whoa Angel. Calm down and talk slowly." She said. "Me and Marcus was just in a car accident. He's hurt really badly." I said. I heard the phone dropped on the other side of the line. "Keisha what happened?" I heard Meghan asked. "Angel, where are y'all?" She asked. Her voice in a panic. "Near McDonald's." I said. I heard ambulances and police cars in the distance. "Keisha please hurry." I said. I hung up and looked at Marcus. Keisha and them got here fast, before the police cars and ambulances. "Marcus!!!" Keisha and Lucky cried. "Oh my baby!!" Mama cried. "Angel!!!" Kacey yelled. They all ran over to us. "Ma'am I need you to back up." A police officer said. "That's my baby." Mama said. "Marcus!! Oh my baby!!!" Marcus's Mom, Julienne, cried. "Hey Reggie. What are you doing here?" A police officer asked. "That's my son." The man cried.

He came over to Marcus. "Oh my baby!!! Please God no." Julienne cried. "Angel, are you okay?" Bryan asked. I looked at the Magic Council. "I'm in pain." I said. An ambulance pulled up. They picked me and Marcus up and took us to the hospital. I was in such shock that Marcus risked his life for mine. It's been hours before everyone could come in my room. First person I seen was Lucky. "Hey Angel. How ya feeling?" Dad asked. "Better but worse at the same time." I said. "Why?" Lucky asked. I sighed. "Marcus protected me throughout the crash. He saved me." I said. I broke down. "And I couldn't do anything. I had a vision in the car and I didn't do anything." I said. "Angel, it all happened so fast. There's no way you could've done something." Kacey said.

"Marcus did. I'm a UniHybrid and I did nothing." I said. "Maybe your reflexes aren't up to speed. Your stressed out." Alma said. I shook my head and stood up. "Where are you going?" Lucky asked. "To see Marcus." I said. "Angel you can't leave." Kacey said. "I just want to see him." I cried. "Angel, later. Right now, you need to rest baby." Mama said. I broke down crying. It's been another hour before everyone had to leave. I've been in the hospital for three days before I was released. I didn't have too many injuries so I was free to go. Couldn't say the same for Marcus. Keisha and I visited him every day til he was able to come home. Keisha, Lucky, and I were gonna take care of him until he was able to do things on his own.

At first, he didn't mind but now we were getting on his nerves. "It's just the bathroom. I'll be fine." He said, angrily. "Sure I can't help you?" Lucky asked. Marcus glared at him. "I'm fine." He said, as he hopped towards the bathroom. He slammed the door shut. I looked at Keisha. She didn't look like herself. She looked at me and shook her head. "What?" I asked, curiously. "I just don't get it." She said. "Get what?" Lucky asked. "Angel you know I love you dearly. Your my little sister and I love you to death. But....I just don't understand how Marcus could protect you during the crash." She said. I gasped. "Keisha!!" Lucky said. "Keisha the crash wasn't my fault. You sound like you were would be happier had I been the one to take all the damage." I said.

"I didn't say that exactly." She said. "But you were implying it." I said. She stared at me. I scoffed. "So you would actually have me be the one whose hurt really bad than your mate? Look Keisha I care about Marcus just as much as you do, but I did tell or ask him to protect me during that crash!!" I yelled. "You said you had a vision of it right?" She asked. I nodded. "Okay then. How long was it before you guys crashed?" She asked, crossing her arms. "Keisha that's enough." Marcus said. We turned to see him coming out the bathroom. "Keisha I protected Angel cause I knew Lucky would've been hurt had he found out HIS mate was the one who got hurt. I also protected Angel cause I didn't want her hurt." He said.

"She's a fucking UniHybrid." Keisha said. "She's been in our world for almost a year. That's not enough time for her to fully develop her quick response reflexes." He said. "Wow. I can't believe my own sister wants me hurt than her own mate." I said. I walked out the Marcus's room and out the door. I transformed into a wolf and ran off. Wow. My own fucking sister. Just calm down. Calm down? My sister just admitted she wanted me injured instead of Marcus. Try to see things from her perspective. If that was Lucky and Keisha in the car, I would care more for Keisha than Lucky. She's my sister. I ran to Light Lake and dove in the water. I took off swimming.

I was so angry at Keisha. I swam for what felt like hours. I surfaced back at Light Lake. I was in an underwater cave. I sighed and looked around. I took deep breaths and calmed myself down. She's just looking out for her mate. She's just looking out for her mate. I took a deep breath and dove back under. I swam back to the lake to find Lucky sitting on the banks. He looked at me then stood up. "There you are. God you swim fast." He said. I swam to the shore and dried off. "What are you doing here?" I asked. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed me. "I wanted to check on you." He said. I blushed and looked away. He grabbed my face and turned me towards him. "Don't do that." He said. "Do what?" I asked, curiously.

"Look away from me. It makes me feel like I did something wrong." He said. I smiled. "It's not you. It's Keisha." I said. He threw me over his back and walked away. "Lucky!! I can walk." I said. He ignored me. "Keisha feels bad for what she said. She seems to say whatever she feels in the heat of the moment." He said. "I know. She needs to kill that habit. Its what gets her in trouble with people." I said. "Angel are you sure your really okay?" He asked. "Uh yeah." I said. He set me down on the ground. "Are you sure? Cause I seen the way that car was and how it was all banged up." He said. "Lucky I'm fine. I just wish Marcus didn't protect me." I said. He looked confused.

"Why?" He asked. "Because. Now I feel like I owe him for what he did. I gotta repay him in some way." I said. Lucky stopped in his tracks. I looked at him. He looked pissed. "How do you wanna repay him?" He asked, quietly. I could tell from his body language and tone that he was jealous. I grabbed his hand and kissed him. "I don't know yet but I got to." I said. We transformed and went back to town. We went to McDonald's and ate. Lucky barely ate his food. He said he wasn't hungry but I wasn't convinced. I looked at him but he told me the same thing. "Angel, I'm not really hungry." He said. "Lucky this is me your talking to sweetie." I said. He sighed. "Okay. I'm just really worried about you and Marcus." He said.

"I'm fine. We both are. Well, Marcus will be when he heals." I said. I looked outside the window and at the site of our crash. I shook my head. "Hey Lucky." I said. He looked at me. "Do you and Marcus have enemies?" I asked, curiously. He stared at me before nodding. "Everyone does. They're called haters." He said. I chuckled. "Not those types of enemies." I said. "Oh. Then no. Not that I know of." He said. He paused and narrowed his eyes. "Why?" He asked. "Cause, the day of the crash, me and Marcus were at the mall. We were leaving when I had to use the bathroom. I came back out and Marcus was arguing with someone. He sounded really angry. He said your name. Something about you choosing me over someone else." I said.

He stared at me. "Do you know who it was? Their name. What they look like." He said. I tried to think but I couldn't think of it. I shook my head. "I don't exactly remember. Something about a Beth? Maybe her name was Beth. I smelled cinnamon when I came out the bathroom." I said. His eyes twitched when I said cinnamon. He shook his head. "I'll talk to Marcus." He said. "Is there anything I should know?" I asked. He smiled and shook his head. "Nah love. It's probably another ex of Marcus tryna worm her way back in our lives." He said. "Our?" I repeated. "Yeah me and Marcus kinda shared exes." He said, awkwardly. I was in disgust. I got up and left. He chased after me. "Oh come on Angel. It was in the past. I've moved on. I've matured since then." He said.

I didn't stop. I keep walking. He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. I yelled. "LUCKY!!! Put me down. I don't like being picked up!!!" I said. "Oh well." He said. "Lucky if you don't let me go, I'll scream." I said. He laughed. "Is that your version of a threat?" He asked. He asked for it. Let it rip. I screamed as loud as I could. He took off running towards the woods. He set me down on the ground and glared at me. "You childish for that." He said. "You wouldn't let me go." I said. I transformed into a wolf and ran off. Lucky transformed and flew after me. I upped my speed. Then I was lifted off the ground. I roared and tried to but Lucky but he was swerving through the air. He dropped me when we reached my house. I transformed and glared at him.

"Your an ass Lucky!!!!" I shouted. He landed and smiled at me. "I love you too Angel!!" He yelled before flying off. I sighed and walked inside the house. Alma looked at me. "Lovers quarrel?" She said, smirking. I blushed and ran upstairs. I ran to my room and found Keisha sitting there. She looked at me. Her face was red and swollen. "Have you been crying?" I asked, sitting next to her. She nodded. "Yes. Angel I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it." She said. "I know. You were just looking out for your mate." I said. She hugged me. "I can't help it. Mates are everything to a magical being." She said. I nodded. "I know. I care a lot about Lucky but not enough to want him more safe than you." I said.

She smiled. "Yeah I shouldn't have said that. That wasn't right and that was not me." She said. "I know. It's all good though. Wanna sleep in my room with me?" I asked. She nodded. She went and made popcorn then came back and watched Bad Girls Club with me. She told me how VH1 were gonna make a remake of it. I told her it would be terrible because they script everything. Bad Girls Club was so original and want scripted when it was on Oxygen. Yeah the producers were schemers and shitty but at least they didn't script everything the girls did. We fell asleep when season eleven was half done. I didn't really care for that season, considering all the girls jumped everyone. It was whack. I woke up to Keisha allaying on my chest, sleeping. I felt something heavy on me. I looked to my right and seen Trey sleep on me.

I smiled and dozed off. God it's good to be home.
