Chapter 14: Weekend escapade

Well today was the day they had been waiting for . Lean and Debra woke up to the promise of adventure , hopefully an exciting weekend..the sun was peeking through their bedroom window, casting golden rays on tangled sheets.

"Are you awake " Debra asked while looking up on the bed . Well they had slept in Lean's room ,but the other on the bed and the other on the floor .

" Barely slept because of the excitement" Lean said looking in Debra's direction with her glowing eyes that made Debra fall in love with her all over again.

They exchanged knowing glances the kind that said, "Today, we escape."

" Let's get ready then , I'm giving you an hour to pack and get ready ,we will eat on the way" Debra said looking serious , she knew how lean could be .

" Fine ...I won't take long"

Debra leaned on the vintage convertible -a present from her late grandfather, its leather seats still new and smelling like fresh paint , she had always wanted to drive it with someone she truly loves in it , and today was the day .

Well Lean being Lean she finished after a whole two hours ...it was just a two day holiday , Debra could not get it , why did she need such a big suitcase .

Debra was really a man stuck in a woman's body, she had a backpack of clothes, a picnic basket with all kinds of fruits and goodies , a map to make this whole drive adventurous and each other ofcourse...

They drove with the wind in their hair, as the radio played nostalgic tunes. The road stretched ahead -an invitation to explore. Lean was busy on her phone taking videos and munching on the goods, while Debra traced her fingers along the dashboard.

" You haven't told me where we are going".. Lean said while switching off her phone.

" I dont know " Debra replied without looking at Lean

" Okay is this about earlier , I just had a lot of clothes I wanted to wear during this trip , I'm sorry for taking 2 hours ..."

" Whatever I'll never understand women , I'm one but can never be like some of you " Debra said

" Obviously you're a man , only those three days of the month humble you" Lean mused fighting the urge to laugh

" Ohh is it , keep playing " Debra chuckled. Well as long as it's Lean who said it ...she didn't mind .

After driving for two hours ,they finally arrived at the beautiful barns in crow lake . It was a place known for having scary yet romantic barns ,which almost look abandoned on the outside but beautiful and classy inside .

After settling in,they made their way to a roadside ice cream stand. Lean ordered a double scoop of mint chocolate chip, while Debra chose a strawberry swirl. They sat on a bench, sharing the ice cream and laughter. As the sun kissed their cheeks, and for a moment, time stood still . This was just perfect.

Debra had to wait for Lean to change again for the third time as they were heading to the lake.

They followed a winding path, trees whispering secrets. The hidden lake awaited-a mirror reflecting azure skies. Without wasting time Lean dipped her toes, and Debra was forced to capture the moment on her vintage camera.

" I hope you took proper pictures" lean said with her body hidden in the water.

" Am I being paid ...so you will post them as they are" with that Debra put the camera down getting into the cold lake water.

Lean was really having a great time, she was now in her fourth attire for the day, while Debra was in the second...

They were now in a secluded restaurant, with dim lights and lit candles on the table as they sipped their cocktails, Lean settled for a Strawberry daiquiri,while Debra chose a Hurricane cocktail,as they waited for their dishes to be prepared.

" Thank you for bringing me here , I know how expensive this place is " Lean said with grateful eyes.

" You're worth it, and please don't thank me ..I'm not running a charity on you ,I'm doing all this because of love , and I just wanted to spend this time alone with you" Debra said while her fingers traced lean's fingers .

" Glad to hear that... , does Clarissa know we're here"

" Did you have to bring her up?" Debra said trying not to look annoyed.

" Well I have to Incase she gets here and caused drama"

" I'm sure she knows , our fathers are planning an arranged marriage for us , which is something I won't comply to because apparently Clarissa's family is broke ,deep in debts " Debra explained as she sipped on her hurricane.

" So you found out" Lean said with a smirk on her face.

" You knew and still said nothing to me? "

" It was none of my business, what's important is that you now know "

" You're unbelievable" ...

" So after dinner, we can go to our room and lie down right" Debra said hiding every emotion, smile and affection.

" You nasty , I'm not gonna answer that " Lean said shying away,making Debra laugh ...

"We shall see" ...
