Leaving 1

She was in the kitchen when he walked in looking more handsome than last night.

It was only last night they met and she didn't even know his name.

'Oh gosh' she smacked her forehead in shame.

How could she be that low to kiss a stranger.

He was already close when he saw this scene and was taken aback.

'Is she okay..? what was that about?.' He asked inwardly.

When he stood at a close but save distance she was relieved.

"So. I would like for us to talk about things" he wasn't asking.

"Hmm sure." she nodded.

"Alright then let's go to the living room" he led her.

He knew she had roamed around before ending up at the backyard, yet seeing her curious gaze made him chuckle inwardly.

In the living room the air was stiff because of the silence you could hear the insects.

"Hehehe.. so I'll go first." he couldn't stand the tension any longer.

"If you don't mind me asking, What is your name?" he read her reactions.

She was definitely occupied in her own small world because after he spoke she seemed to have jolted back to life.

"My name Theodore MJ Jones" she replied nonchalantly.

He just stared at her, which made her uncomfortable.

"How about you tell me a bit more" he said casually.

Nodding she continued "I'm an orphan my parents died tragically during a robbery" she said a little distantly while recalling the event.

"I was just 13, so I was likely going to live in the orphanage or the streets but I chose to work as a cook in a restaurant to earn a living, then a beauty salon before I ended up in my current job which is event planning. LTX to be precise."

She felt like she was saying more than she should 'i don't mind though it's not a secret after all' She thought internally.

Silence enveloped them again but it wasn't as stiff as before.

She looked his way. His unreadable face gave nothing away.

"What's your name?" she blurted out the question in her mind without awareness.

He raise a brow before speaking"James" he said like it was enough.

She had an expression saying' okay..?'

"James Martinez" he continued "I'm a lawyer at de Marcus firm" he completed his speech boldly but what caught her off guard was the fact that he was a lawyer and was surely earning enough.

She looked around wondering how he still could own such a place. Yes he was capable with such a profession but still can't shake the feeling that something was off.

He must have read her like an open book.

"This is actually the Martinez mansion," he said.

'His family must be so rich to have a grand house like this'. The name sounded familiar to her.

And just like before he read her openly.

"This was built by my grandfather years back as our family house but maintained over the years" he explained further joining all the pieces together.

She nodded with understanding 'no wonder it feels like a home' she thought 'Wait! What about his family?' she asked inwardly with doubts.

"What about your family?" she managed to ask cautiously not to trigger emotions, just in case.

"Unfortunately my parents died due to a fire outbreak." he said full of emotions.

She felt bad for him 'I guess I was right about triggering the past and failed terribly'.

"I'm sorry" she said with a low voice, feeling guilty.

"It's all good," he replied weakly.

This made her less anxious especially after finding out they had similar experience though it wasn't the same stories but what they felt was definitely the same because it ended tragically.

After a while she decided to ask more further.

"So what about your grandparents?." She was a bit cautious not to repeat the same mistake.

His face brightened up "Oh my grandparents are perfectly okay though they've been out of the country for far too long." he said with annoyance.

She was glad she was able to lighten his mood.

She smiled with satisfaction "I'm glad, outside the country." she wanted to ask but just made it a statement instead.

"Yeah for three years now." he said with a sad tone.

"You must miss them." she said with a smile. 'At least he had someone to depend on' she thought sadly.

"Hmm." he hummed "So have you eaten anything since morning?." He was looking at her now.

"Umm N-No" she stuttered 'Does he care that much?.'

"I'm sorry." he was looking sad "Let me make you something to eat."

"So what would you like to eat." He was now standing looking all tall and mighty.

Thinking for a while "well Egg white omelette, Spinach, Cheese and Avocado." She said with dreamy eyes.

"Alright then, wait for me." He left after that.
