A Contract

No it couldn't get any worse. A moment later I heard the bell ring, I walked to the door with heavy steps upon reaching there I forgot to check the peephole to see who it was, I just opened the door.

"Good day ma'am. Are you Theodore MJ Jones?" I looked up to see who asked that silly question.

I was stunned when I saw a man probably twenty four years of age, dressed in a business suit, his hair was dressed back and he had a professional look. I was sure I haven't met him before so why was he looking for me?.

"Yes. how can I help you?" I said, eyeing him.

He smiled professionally but it was sexy especially with his dimples. But I couldn't care less.

"I am Eric Lewis. Mr James assistant and manager, I was told by sir James to give you some papers that require your signature." he simply stated.

"Oh..." I said with understanding but then my head snapped back looking at him in shock.

It did get worse or even worster if such a word even existed.

"Please this way sir" I moved for him to step inside. I closed the door and he followed me to the living room.

I motioned for him to sit "do you want something to drink" I wasn't trying to gain his favor, nope I was just being nice. Well maybe just a bit of his favor, not much just a little bit, yeah that was it...a little bit.

I finally convinced myself that I need his favor and I pray to get it because right now his stern

The look is discouraging. He didn't even blink before refusing my offer which was nerve wracking

"I'm sure you already know why I'm here but let me make it more understanding" he was straight down to business.

He brought out a file from his briefcase "these are the papers and it all stated there the reasons and responsibilities your

signature holds" he gave me the papers to take a look while he continued.

"It's more like a contract since we don't know the exact amount you'll be paying." He said and it got my attention. I haven't really thought about it but thinking now made me realize that I'm currently jobless so how can I possibly pay my debt. Gosh I felt devastated.

"In those papers it all stated the kind of contract and why." Even though I was curious as hell I still let him finish, I mean what's the rush?.

"Mr James wanted to know your qualification so we could proceed with the arrangements" he said.

"I told your boss that I have worked as a cook before, so I'm definitely sure I can be of help especially with the fact that he does not have a cook" I said with pride.

He nodded thoughtfully "I guess that could work, yet if you don't mind I would still like to know you educational background though I know it's not needed" he said looking at me intensely.

"I wanted to be a fashion designer in school but I dropped out of college halfway because I wasn't financially stable" I lowered my head in shame.

"Hmm I see . So how old are you?" he said and I looked up only to see curious brown eyes.

"I'm nineteen years old," I answered.

He gazed moved to the papers "so what do you say Miss Theodore"

I didn't know either so I was quiet.

"If I have the time I would need to think about it first" I didn't want to make any haste decision.

"Well Miss Theodore you do have the time but I would like for you to think about the situation first" he said.

"Okay but can I keep the papers for the signing after I am done thinking"

"Sure but I hope you consider my advice" and with that he stood up and straightened his suit jacket, taking his briefcase while passing me a smile and a nod before walking out.

I arranged the papers, taking them to my room and inside my locker before heading to the kitchen.
