CHAPTER 27

Alina head back to her father's house after she got off work for the day.

"Dad, I want to tell you something actually" Alina said as she joined her dad and the sitting room.

"Go ahead, dear"

Alina hesitated as she thought hard on how to present her statement.

"What is it Alina? Did something happen at the hospital? Why are you soundly hesitating?" Sam asked as he glanced at her and Alina swallowed hard.

"Dad, I agreed to be Nolan's girlfriend" Alina said swiftly with her eyes closed.

Sam kept mute for some minutes and Alina opened one of her eyes to see his reaction.

He boost into laughter after the silence and Alina opened her eyes, shocked by her father's reaction.

"Dad, why are you laughing? I'm actually serious this time around" Alina said slowly.

"It's a good thing you finally got yourself a boyfriend. I was beginning to get worried for you my dear. You've got all the wonderful qualities but you had no man in your life. You made a good choice as well" Sam said with a smile and Alina hugged him tight.

"Thank you dad. For the being the best father in the world. I thought you would scold me for getting a boyfriend and having the nerve to tell you about it. Thank you dad" Alina said in his arms.

"Why would I scold you for doing something good? Having a boyfriend isn't a bad thing and you know I've always been in support of all your decisions as long as it will make you happy. You always made the right decisions and that's why I supported you in all of it. Nolan isn't a bad guy, I knew it from the very day he visited. I noticed he had a thing for you but you were too dense to notice. Do you like him? What do you like about him?" Sam asked curiously as he caressed Alina's hair.

"He always looks out for me even when I didn't ask for him. For the past few days he showed me a different side of him and it all seems perfect to me. I like him because he loves me" Alina said with a smile.

A beep came on her phone.

She picked it up from the table. It's a text message from Nolan.

~"Did you manage to tell your dad about us? Have you started packing for our trip? I can't wait to see you tomorrow Alina. I don't think I will be able to wait till tomorrow before I see you, should I just come over? Uncle took off the CCTV camera in my room" ~

Alina smiled after reading it and she didn't reply.

"Dad, I've got something else to say to you" Alina cleared her throat.

"Yes, what is it?"

"Dad, I've been offered a month off but in exchange I will have to nurse Nolan for the month because of his injury and that means I will be staying with him" Alina said slowly.

"Injury? What injury? Is it serious? It must be serious that's why you were given a month. How did it happen? How come you didn't tell me about it?" Sam complained.

Alina's phone kept on buzzing with messages but she ignored it.

"I had no opportunity to share something like that to you and I didn't want you to worry yourself. Nolan was attacked few days ago but he's getting better now" Alina explained and Sam exhaled sharply.

"That's a relief but who attacked him? Shouldn't it be reported to the police?" Sam asked.

"That wouldn't be necessary dad. Nolan took care of everything, although I don't know much details about the accident" Alina said and their doorbell rang.

"Who's here this late at night?" Alina questioned about to stand up but Sam held her hand.

"Don't worry, I will get it. Who would be here so late at night? It might be dangerous so stay back" Sam said and head to the door.

Sam watched the doorbell camera.

"What's he doing here at this time?" Sam uttered before unlocking the gate.

Nolan came inside and Sam was standing right next to the door.

"Greetings father" Nolan greeted with a bow and Alina turned around, she was shocked to the bone when she saw Nolan.

"Nolan are you okay? What are you doing here so late at night? Is it safe for you to go out in your condition?" Sam threw in.

"I'm fine sir. I only dropped by. I had no idea it was getting so late already" Nolan lied and Sam smirked.

"Come in" Sam said and he removed his shoes then put on the house slippers.

They both walked to the sitting room.

"Nolan, what are you doing here?" Alina asked in shock.

Nolan fakes a smile as he gave her signal with his eyes.

"He said, he was only dropping by and he had no idea it was getting late already" Sam answered and Alina laughed.

"What's funny?" Nolan asked as they both stared at Alina.

"Dad, since Nolan's here. I will make a proper introduction. Dad, meet my boyfriend Nolan" Alina said calmly and Nolan began to sweat nervously.

"Is that so?" Sam asked staring at Nolan.

"Yes father. I promise to always be by your daughter's side and do everything in my power to make sure, she never sheds a single tears because of me" Nolan said with a bow and he felt pains on his stomach but he didn't raise his head up.

"Aren't you sick? Is it safe for you to bow like that?" Sam teased and Nolan raised his head up immediately.

"Keep your promise and don't forget what you just said right now. I won't spare you if you happen to go against your promise. It's getting late already, we should all go to bed" Sam announced as he stood up.

"Okay, dad. Good night to the both of you" Alina smiled.

"Nolan, you're sleeping with me in my room so come with me" Sam said.

"But dad, we've got a guest room. Wouldn't it be uncomfortable for you to share your bed with someone else?" Alina asked worriedly.

"What are you worried about exactly? You told me about your relationship, I accepted. You should allow me have a good time with Nolan just like we did the other time he visited and there's nothing wrong with sharing" Sam said with a smile.

Nolan stared at Alina with puppy eyes as he signalled her to safe him.

"Alright dad. Dad please take care of him on my behalf" Alina said and ran to her room.

Sam turned to Nolan.

"You weren't this scared of me when you visited the last time so what changed?"

ARIA'S APARTMENT.....

Aria applied some lotions on her face while she was on call with Alina.

"So what did dad say? I know dad is super cool so he wouldn't have a problem with you staying with Nolan but we all know what this break is all for" Aria teased over the phone.

"What do you mean? It's not a bad idea to have a great time once in a while"

"Now I see the reason why girls like wealthy men. Lina, you should be grateful to Nolan for having a generous uncle. Who gives a month off to a permanent employee? Aren't you luckiest? Lina you just hit a jackpot" Aria said excitedly.

"You sound even more excited than I am. I thought you never liked him, you kept on calling him jerky professor. Did your perspective on him change?" Alina asked curiously.

"I guess a little. Since he maned up to tell you how he feels and with the help of his injury, I guess I have no choice but to go easy on him. He's now my best friend's boyfriend" Aria said with a smile.

"Thanks Ria for going easy on him. Ria how about we use this opportunity to hang out as well. Do you have much on your plate right now?" Alina asked.

"I've got lots of shows and shoots to attend to but why did you ask?"

"Since Nolan and I are going on a trip, I thought of going with you as well. Ever since you arrived we haven't catched up and had mad fun like old times" Alina said calmly.

"Who cares about the piled up schedule? I can postpone them all. Opportunities like this doesn't always come by so easily. I can take a week off"

"That would be amazing, Ria. Thank you" Alina said excitedly.

"So where are we traveling to? Any country or seaside in mind?" Aria asked.

"No I idea yet but pack your bags. We're leaving tomorrow. I'm pretty sure Nolan has it all planned out. He refused to share it with me"

"He's being secretive huh! Don't worry Lina, I will speak to my manager and sort things out with my schedule. This trip will be super fun, can't wait Lina" Aria said excitedly.

NEXT MORNING....

In front of Sam's house. Nolan's car is parked in front of the house as he helped Alina with her luggage.

"Alina, have some fun and don't forget to shake off all the stress about work and Nolan don't rush things okay" Sam advised.

"Dad, what are you saying? What are we rushing?" Alina blushed looking away and Sam laughed.

"She usually gets shy she thinks of naughty things" Sam laughed.

"Dad!" Alina called out and got into the car.

"Father, please take care of yourself and I will take care of Alina as well so don't worry. I won't let any harm come to her, be rest assured" Nolan said politely.

"Take care of yourself as well, although I know that's exactly what Alina will be doing. Stay out of trouble. You should go ahead now before the traffic gets hectic" Sam said.

"Bye father" Nolan said and got into the car.

Alina waved at him.

"Dad, don't think much about it okay. I'm not leaving you just yet, I'm not getting married or leaving for my husband's house so please don't wear that look on your face" Alina said with a smile.

"What are you saying? I would have loved it if you were actually leaving for your husband's house for good. You know that's one of my biggest goals" Sam said and Alina pouted as she waved at him then the driver drove off.

Nolan's phone started ringing.

"Yes, Lilian. What happened? Why do you sound so down?" Nolan asked worriedly over the phone and Alina looked at him.

Why's she calling him this early? Alina groaned in her head.

"Baby, can we meet up right now? I need to tell you something very important" Lilian said at the over end.

"Is it something very important? Because I'm currently in the midst of something" Nolan said.

"Yes, Nolan. I'm at your apartment right now"

"On my way" Nolan said and hung up the call.

"Sir, please drop by at my apartment" Nolan said to his driver.

Alina looked at him curiously as she hoped on hearing an explanation from Nolan.

"Was that Lilian?" Alina asked.

"Yes, she said she has something important to tell me. She sounded down over the phone. I'm hoping it's nothing that serious" Nolan said concerned.

"Is she inside your apartment or she's waiting for you outside?" Alina asked as she held her heart on her palms.

Nolan stared at her as he noticed the insecurity in Alina's voice.

"She's inside my apartment. Don't worry much about it, I bought the apartment from her and I haven't been able to change the password ever since and that's why she still has the password but since I've got our privacy to protect now, I will change the password. She can't come in without your permission from now on" Nolan said softly as he wrapped his arms around Alina's shoulders.

Alina smiled secretly.

"What kind of relationship do you share with her?"

"She's my best friend's ex girlfriend and she's my friend as well" Nolan said.

"Why would you make friends with your best friend's ex girlfriend?" Alina asked curiously.

"Because I know she had feelings for me" Nolan said without an expression and Alina looked at him a bit confused as she failed to read his expression.
