Chapter 5

“If it’s too much, let me know,” she said softly. Almost unsure of herself.

“It’s…it’s not. At all.” I was able to relax more, knowing that she was nervous as well.

We laid like that for the rest of the night, her soft snores echoing through my room. Occasionally she would shift a little, only to squeeze me tighter.

Waking up the next day, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was still there. Sitting upright, with my head in her lap, fingers playing with my hair, and watching the news. I shifted my weight a little and she looked down at me, smiling. “Hey, sleepyhead.”

“Hey, you.” My smile reflected hers. I hadn’t slept that good in a while. And God, she was even gorgeous first thing in the morning. Maybe more so.

“So, I was thinking we could go get something to eat today. Get to know each other a little more. Show you around,” she asked more than stated.

“Yeah. I would love that. I mean, I would like that. A lot.” I fumbled like an idiot.
