Chronicles: How I Became Who I am - Part 1

Stuck as a female, Tem sat on the floor between the giants, holding a stiff look. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do here," she thought.

She was watched over like a prey in hawk's view. "Bubble girl, please tell your name..." Gogo wondered, clapping his palms together.

"Hm? Well, I have two names. Which would you like to hear?" Gogo leaned in closer, his big jaw nearly touching Tem's face. "Two names? How?"

"Well, I kind of have two characteristics for myself. One of which you see now and the other you got scared earlier about." Gogo's curiosity began to rise exponentially as he didn't understand.

"I don't mind." Tem sighed and then introduced herself. "The characteristic name you see in front of you was given by one of my friends, and decided to call it "Tem". Second one is my birth name, given to me by my parents, Timothy, but I am usually called Tim."

Gogo grew more and more enthusiastic the longer he revolved around Tem. "Um... Do humans fight?" the question caught Tem by surprise and titled her head to the side. "Well, yeah, some of us do, but not all."

"You do? That's so cool! Mommy used to tell me that small people like you do magic." Tem reached for the back of her head and smiled kindly, a bit embarrassed.

"Yup, but some people also can't do magic. You see, the 'magic' your mom's been talking about is actually called a 'Spiritual Talent' or a 'Special Ability', but only those who developed such abilities are able to do magic."

"Ooh! Does that mean you shoot fire from mouth like dragons?" Tem crossed her arms in front of her chest and cocked her head to the side.

"Well, I guess there's definitely people out there who can do that. I have some similiarites when it comes to fire breathing, but I don't breathe fire - I tend to create it from my 'Spiritual Aura' - the main core that lets us use these talents."

Gogo's big eyes opened wide. Talking to Tem really pumped him up to excitement that made him bounce on his bottom. "Ooh, ooh! Show me, show me!"

"Okay, I'll show it to you, but promise me not to get scared and make your mom attack me. Can you do that?" Gogo hesitated for a moment, then agreed. "Okie." Tem hopped up to her feet and stretched her limbs first.

"Now, what I'll do next will feel a bit warm from this range, but don't worry it won't harm you in any way, promise." Gogo nodded to agree then waited impatiently.

He watched Tem move her right hand in front of her, pointing her palm up at the ceiling and then slowly create an orange flame from the tip that calmly waved around.

"See, it's just like a dragon's fire breath, but smaller. No worries, though, I can increase its size if I want, but I don't need to do it because it could be dangerous."

"Wow!" called Gogo and gently reached forward. "Can I touch it," he questioned and prepared to poke the flame. "No, absolutely not!" Tem instantly shut her palm for the flames to slowly slip between her joints and then disperse into air. "I told you it could be dangerous. It's very hot and could burn your skin if you're not careful."

Gogo became a tad bit upset, but moved his big arm away. "Dangerous? How can you touch it?" Tem slowly circled her whole body with her arm, then gently shaped it into a ring of fire.

"My body grew used to the temperature, so it doesn't burn me, but yours didn't, so it would do just that." Tem explained, "Remember how I told you that we developed our abilities? Well, developing our abiliities also requires us to develop our body to a point where we're free to use our ability to its fullest potential."

"Do you think I can develop ability too?" Tem's eyes fixed onto Gogo's. As she paused for a moment, she looked at the ground and leaned her hand close to her chin. "Let me think. I'm pretty sure you could. You may be bigger than us, but you still have a powerful aura sealed beneath your skin. I'm sure if you trained long enough, you could develop an ability of your own. It would take some time, though."

"Really?! That cool! Tell me, tell me! What would my ability look like?" Tem chuckled, innocently and pressed her palm on her right hip.

"I'm sorry, but I don't know. You see, when you develop an ability, it requires lots of concentration and imagination. If you build them up, you'll virtually be able to connect them with your aura, but it would require a lot of patience to make any progress. The abilities that we develop are from our mind, so other people wouldn't be able to know a type of ability you possess."

"From my mind? Does that mean I could create toys out of rocks?" Tem agreed in an instant. "Yup! There's no limits to what your ability could become. It's purely created from your imagination. For example, you could grow wings, run super fast or jump real high, or you could develop an ability similar to mine where you form your aura into elemental substenances."

"I could make fire like you?"

"Mhm! You could do just that if your imagination involved about burning stuff down. Although, my ability wasn't made because of my imagination, it was mostly done because of the emotion that I suffered back then.

"When one of my friends disappeared from the world, all I could feel was anger and sadness. Then, out of nowhere, I was able to release fire through each of my limbs! If I recall, that was probably the cruelest day of my life that I've ever experienced, but nowadays I've gotten used to it and left the past behind."

She explained, quickly questioned by Gogo. "I want to know." Tem shivered for a moment, then slowly lost her enthuisiasm. "Okay... I'm pretty sure that's the day before I met Ayuka properly. I guess I can tell you, this is how it went..."

~ Tim ran through the raining streets, unable to find out that Ayuka had followed him. She made sure to keep hidden as possible until she noticed Tim sprint around the corner into an alleyway, calling out, "Myles!" then came to a dead end.

In front of him stood Giovanni in confrontation with a demon. He was sweating and holding a sword in his arms; its tip pointed forward. "You cruel creature, let go of that kid!" he shouted, stepping closer.

Demon's tongue had been longer than snake's. He held Myles tightly in front of him with a massive grin. His whole body was skinless, it looked as if it only had bloody flesh, no clothes, no proper organs. "Pa-ra-ra-ra-ra," he laughed. "Why should I? I haven't had a good snak for days ever since I came to your world!"

Giovanni stood still, his arms trembling as he couldn't budge or the demon's claws would slice through Myles's chest. The poor kid had been screaming out, calling Tim's name.

"Silence, brat!" Screamed the demon and roared into Myles's ears, who shifted to quietness in an instant. His face had been covered with tears, until his view soon met up with Tim's body running out from around the corner.

"Myles!" he spotted the horrible confrontation in front. Tim's eyes opened wide as they met a horrendous creature standing not far away from him, but he still shared a brave face.

"Let go of him, you monster! He hasn't done anything to deserve this!" Tim shouted. Giovanni immediately turned around and felt astonished. He couldn't believe that Tim could see him. "You can see me, kid?"

Tim looked straight into him and tensed his eyes. "Of course I can! I can also see you holding that sharp edge! If you're here, why don't you use it already and cut that ugly creatures?!"

"Kid, you don't understand. Killing a demon of this grade is not easy. It cannot kill this creature in one cut. It would require much more than just a simple jab."

Tim's eyes locked back onto the demon and quickly spread his arms and legs. His black unzipped jacket swayed behind his back in the storm. "Then I'll kill it myself!" recklessly he rushed ahead.

"Kid are you insane?! You'll get yourself killed!" but Tim's mind had been fixed on one task at hand and the demon in front just laughed out loud, then slashed his claw forward.

"You could be a delicious meal for me, human!" demon screamed and laugh maniacally. Tim's eyes opened in shock as he soon prepared to be wounded. But just in that moment, a silhouette of a man crossed his path and instead they were the one cut.

Tim saw the blood burst out from Giovanni's stomach who defended Tim to live another day. "Wha'-" Giovanni's body collapsed to his knees from the wound he suffered. He reached for it and then felt the warm red liquid slip between his joints down his wrist and arm.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Tim screamed and immediately reached for Giovanni's shoulders. "You're... so... pathetic, kid... I-I told you to... stay away from him... but you still attacked... r-recklessly... You're ignorant, truly ignorant."

"Huh?! Hey! You're the one who jumped in front of me! Come on, I'll get you to a doctor in the moment I take down this creature. Please, just hold on."

Giovanni laughed besides the pain he exerted. Ayuka still hidden behind the corner of the street. She was stressed and sweated under the soaking rainfall. "This kid is insane..." she claimed.

"Look at me..." claimed Giovanni, "Protecting a stupid kid... funny, that is... Y-You really want to kill this demon, huh? I-I suppose... you could... have... the potential to wield a 'Spiritual Blade', ha-ha..."

"What the hell are you talking about?! You're losing sanity, of course I want to help!" Tim shouted and then slowls watched Giovanni crawl back to lean his back on the wall.

"T-Then tell me... w-what's your name, kid?" Tim looked at him nervously, while seeing the demon laughing, waiting to strike with a glimpse of his eyes.

"It's Timothy... Miyazaki Timothy..." he answered, "I see. Then, Miyazaki Timothy... are you willing to risk your life to protect that kid?"

"He's my friend! I can't let him be devoured by that beast! I'd do anything for him to come back home safely."

"Very well... I can see you're full of determination, Timothy. Then, would you accept this sword as a gift? However, if you do, you would require to stab yourself with it. If the sword sees your as a worthy person to be in its possession it will enhance you to become a 'Spiritual Duelist', and won't kill or wound you. Are you willing to go that far?"

Tim hesitated for a moment and barely believed a word, but then he looked at Myles's tears and quickly become serious; determined to save him. "Y-Yeah, I'll do it. I want to safe him. I promised to keep him safe!"

One final chuckled reached out from Giovanni's mouth and in the next moment, he extended his arm ahead. "Then... Become the newest 'Spiritual Duelist' and the defender of Planet Earth, Miyazaki Timothy!"

Tim hesitated no more and reached out for the sword's blade. "I understand. I'll make sure to protect the people in need of assistance." Immediately, Tim stabbed the sharp blade through his stomach and in an instant he felt a horrendous shockwave blast throughout his body.

Ayuka's and demon's eyes opened wide. In that instant, Tim's whole body unleashed a shock through the underground veins and vibrated out in an explosive pressure. It curved up a thunderous hurricane that boomed through the area, lifting up a wide cloud of steam.

The sudden pule that burst out from his body rammed the corners of the houses and reached Ayuka's body. Her clothes waved in the whirlwind and she felt her feet slipping back on the ground as she covered her face with her arm.

Then in the following moment, she spotted a glimpse of a black sword carving through the steam and sweeping to the side which tossed the steam to the side and swirled around Tim's confident pose.

Giovanni smiled as it revealed Tim's brand new potential. His clothes swayed in the wind as his electro blue eyes rayed out and brightened the demon's visuals. It screamed, "What the hell are you kid?!" and then became terrified, seeing that Tim reached for the sword's handle with his second hand.

"I guess I didn't introduce myself yet to you. I'm, Miyazaki Tim!" ~

"And that's how I became who I am now. Pretty sick, am I right?" Gogo's excitement reached a climax as he couldn't stop clapping. "So cool! I want to know more, more! I want to know that girl!"

"Huh? You mean, Ayuka? I guess it couldn't really hurt to tell you about her. To be honest, I don't know what happened by my memories are still somewhat messy. I'm pretty sure she was supposed to be my wife until this 'Black Storm' incident occurred."

"Your wife? Ooh, tell me more, please!" Tem reached for her chin again and began to think.

"I suppose. I just remember a brief description, but I prefer to keep silent before things would become weird. We kind of ended up getting thrown through a massive time shift, but we still haven't found a proper cure to return back home."

"Cool! More, more! I want to know about wife!"

Tem chuckled and whirled on the floor to transform back into a boy. Finally Gogo became relaxed around him and then continued to patiently listen to him.

"Let's start..."

To be continued...
