Gilgamesh Untold

As time passes, and Ages come and go, history holds firm as the reminder of humanity's story. Stories are passed down, immortalized, and never forgotten. One such story has stood the test of time, and is considered the very first, oldest story ever told... 'Though this history shall soon be forgotten, the Epic of Gilgamesh shall live on forever in my memory, as a sign of who I once was and the sacrifices I had to make.' 'I have learned many things, and have seen even more. I have lived fulfilling lives and accomplished great things. That story has long ended, but my story still remains unwritten!' 'So now, I write my own story! A story of the things unknown to all! The story of Gilgamesh, untold!' *Inspired by the Ancient Mesopotamian 'Epic of Gilgamesh,' and Based off of the work of iKissTurtles (Who I am working with to publish this fantastic take on the age-old character).*

Terrible Oversight

'Gilgamesh. The 'Great King.' I even heard them refer to him as, "He who knows the ways and learned all things," the fools. No mortal mind is beyond mine- I cannot be beaten in a contest of intelligence.'

'I have seen through him completely; he is not as shrewd as he once was. He probably thinks that he can overcome our manipulation somehow, but it won't matter. Heaven's Edict may be absolute, but that absolution is its weakest point.'

'If a god must exist that is tethered to one or more worlds, then no god should be limited in the amount of worlds they are tethered to. However, a world that is currently being governed by a god or godhead may not become tethered to any other gods.'

'Therein lies Gilgamesh's downfall. I will crush his easygoing spirit and force him to struggle with all his might. Then, once he has pushed himself beyond the limits of his physical and spiritual prowess, I will send in the first of the gods we have chosen. In such a state, Gilgamesh will be left with very little in the way of options.'

'In fact, he will be left with only one.'

|Enki's Thoughts As He Plots In The World Beyond Heaven's Door|

"Are you ready, Seha?" Curled up into a ball, atop the very same mountain that Gilgamesh had left her, Seha Helal Barakat jumped in fright.

At the sound of his voice, she recalled all the torturous thoughts that had been repeatedly playing in her head. With dispirited eyes, she rose up slowly and looked at him, no more defiance in her eyes. There was only silent surrender.

"Yes..." she said weakly, getting onto her feet.

"This is likely the last time you will see this world. Anything you want to say to it? You had so much to say to me last time."

Taunting her was only fun if she gave a reaction, but there was no reaction from her this time.

Gilgamesh frowned and started walking toward her, about to put things in place. However, she truly did have some final words.

"I hope that, once Gilgamesh is gone, you can prosper once again."

Hearing this, he sneered. "In the near future, this world will prosper because of me."

"I doubt that very much."

"You'll see soon enough, now prepare yourself."

"For?" Seha asked, sounding both deadpan and curious, but her expression did not change.

"Your spirit may be minuscule compared to a god's, but you do still possess a powerful spirit. I cannot risk them discovering that before I'm ready to make use of it."

Seha sighed, and in her soliloquy she voiced her opinions on the matter.

"That's all I am, is it? An object. A tool to be used. How laughable I now am."

Gilgamesh ignored her, and placed a hand on her chest, not caring about how he may or may not be fondling her. With a thought, his powerful spirit overpowered her own and started to commandeer its power. It would be unusual for a regular mortal to possess such a powerful spirit, but not Gilgamesh. Even if he took every drop of power from her spirit and assimilated it, it would barely be like a drop of water in the ocean.

No one would notice that.

"There. You shouldn't feel any weaker, and that's cause you aren't. Now then, let's go."

With that, Gilgamesh teleported away from the Northlands and back to Dramaour City.

He wanted the last faces he saw before he left to be his family's.

...

"Mother, Father, this is it."

Angelica and Logan both took deep breaths. They walked out onto the veranda to meet him, and only then did they notice Seha.

"Oh, hello there," Angelica said, unsure of who this person was.

Logan's eyes widened. He had never seen such a foxy, yet somehow also mature and graceful, woman. He took a short moment to collect himself, then praised Gilgamesh in his heart for having such a woman with him- and at such a small age also.

"Greetings, fair lady," Logan said, winning him a glance from Angelica.

"You must be the parents of 'the Gilgamesh.' I am Seha Helal Barakat."

Angelica and Logan immediately came to the realization and gasped collectively.

"The Mother Superior!?"

"You're still alive!?"

Their questions differed, but their surprise was the same nonetheless.

"Yes, and yes." Seha did not say much, but she at least answered their questions.

Gilgamesh then brought their attention back to his departure, and they shared their goodbyes. After a final hug, Logan stared deep into Gilgamesh's eyes and sighed.

"Do not forget your promise."

Gilgamesh nodded, "I will not forget, nor will I break it."

"Remember to brush your teeth, Gil," Angelica said, sounding stern.

"And remember what we taught you- and make sure you spread the clothes out evenly when you're drying them," Lara and some of the other staff were all there now, reminding Gilgamesh of the things they had taught him.

"Don't neglect your practice. There's always more to learn," Maxwell smiled, giving Gilgamesh a thumbs up.

By now, they all knew the truth about Gilgamesh, and knew that he was about to leave the very world they were in. It was a hard thing to grasp, but they were still able to accept the reality. Each and every one of them were glad that they decided to work for House Dramaour.

"Goodbye, everyone."

In a blink, Gilgamesh and Seha were gone.

The very instant that they arrived in the void of outer space, just beyond the atmosphere of the world, that tremendous light stretching infinitely through space arrived. From it came three spiritual manifestations.

They were Ishtar, Nanna and Enki.

"This is it, Gilgamesh," Nanna said coldly.

"Who is that with you? A woman? Tch! Of course it is. Even as a child you're still a lecher, Gilgamesh." Ishtar folded her arms and spat, but her vision seemed to be lingering on Seha instead of Gilgamesh.

"It does not matter. This mortal will not survive the spatial transmission, Gilgamesh. Do you plan to waste some of your spirit protecting her?" Enki asked this, but he did not really care. His only goal was simply to prove to Gilgamesh that he was superior to him in terms of intellect.

If questioning Gilgamesh's actions was what he thought would work, then that was exactly what he would do.

"I will do what I must." Gilgamesh flew forward with his spirit, and dragged Seha with him. With so much of his spirit enveloping her, it would seem as though he was protecting her from the harsh environment of outer space.

This was not the case, but three unsuspecting gods would have no reason to doubt it. Their downfall came in knowing Gilgamesh to have been quite a womanizer for a time. They would simply see it as him letting himself loose a little, something Gilgamesh was known to do.

"Prepare yourselves then." Enki and the others willed it to happen, and the matchless light encompassed both Gilgamesh and Seha. This was how the gods would force him to be sent away without knowing where he would end up.

This light stemmed from beyond Heaven's Door; it was beyond what the current Gilgamesh would be able to overpower, especially with his sealed spirit.

"This light represents the Spirit of Heaven, its actions cannot be determined by anyone but The Divine Ruler himself. As it shines upon you, it enacts the laws by which all of existence are governed."

Seha heard these things and, for the first time today, her expression truly changed. Now, when she looked at the three spiritual beings, there was reverence in her eyes as well as recollection.

She had seen these three before, in the sky, standing beside the Face of Heaven.

"I already know the terms of the wager. You may send us wherever you wish."

Gilgamesh said these words not for any of the gods present, but to Anu himself. Their explanation made it clear that Anu's spirit was with them, meaning it was no different than him manifesting himself there.

The light grew brighter, and immediately started to pull them all away.

Then, Gilgamesh felt something tug at his heart. Time slowed to a speed so sluggish it was as if frozen, and the entirety of the universe, save for the planet behind him, faded from view.

Looking around him, Gilgamesh saw nothing unusual. The three glowing gods, the flowing light, and the woman at his side. However, as he looked closer, he saw a wide grin on Enki's face.

He recognized this grin- in fact, he had seen this exact grin before, right before something disgustingly underhanded had been done.

Gilgamesh searched his memories, finding that the person who had shown this grin was none other than ...himself.

Immediately, his racing heart pained, but Time regained its composure as the universe returned to its previous state.

Gilgamesh.

Was.

Afraid.

His eyes went wild, and his spirit grew unsteady as he attempted to search the void for something he had missed. His mind revisited every word he had spoken, every possibility he had considered, every eventually he had prepared for.

There was nothing. What could he have missed?

However, as he was deep thought, a voice spoke words into the void that sickened him. Hearing this voice, all were confused but Enki, who turned his head back to the planet they had long left behind.

What had that voice said?

"The connection is severed, Lord Enki. I have now claimed the godless world."

Enki's laughter seemed to fill the endless expanse of space as Gilgamesh fear solidified into a lump that got stuck in his throat. He could not even speak as he realized what had come to pass.

He had overlooked something so crucial. He, who had scoured the cracks in Heaven's Edict, finding ways to exploit it in order to aid his battle against the gods, had missed this detail.

Regret filled him, but his spirit would not tolerate it. Gilgamesh did not regret. He would not allow himself to.

The heavenly light warped; the speed of their transmission was about to increase.

There was very little time.

Gilgamesh grabbed Seha's arm, and instantly drew the attention of the three gods with them. He did not expect to have to use her spirit this soon, but it did not matter.

A god had been sent to claim the world his parents were on. There was nothing he wouldn't do in order to get back to them.

He needed them safe.

Without delay, and as the heavenly light grew ever brighter, Gilgamesh poured out every ounce of power his spirit could possibly give him in its weakened state.

"ENKI!!!"

Gilgamesh's rage itself took form as an explosion rocked the stability of space. The three gods reacted swiftly, pouring their spirits out without measure in an attempt to lock Gilgamesh down.

As the constriction of space approached, tightened around Gilgmesh like hands around his throat, he roared.

"Recreate Magic!"

The darkness of outer space fled as matchless red light appeared. Gilgamesh had recreated Anu's 'Infinity Exposure,' desperate to escape their clutches.

"Hahaha! Scared, are you? Good!" Enki's maniacal laughter only worsened the pain in Gilgamesh's heart. At this point, it was not simply necessary for him to make it back to his parents.

It was the only thing that mattered to Gilgamesh now. Nothing else was more important.

He fueled the magic with every fibre of his being, but it was not enough.

The three gods banded together, and resisted with an equally powerful counter-spell.

"Null-Void Domain," they spoke in unison, creating a barrier around themselves that consisted of the Essence of Nothingness, the perfect counter to Infinity.

Gilgamesh grit his teeth, but as fast as he thought of new options, he would realize that they wouldn't work. The more he thought, the less options he had.

Finally, he arrived at the only choice he had left.

In Gilgamesh's heart, he became sorrowful and apologetic. Enki could feel the change in Gilgamesh, and realized that his plan was coming to fruition. Gilgamesh would make the choice he expected him to make, and they would win the war in an instant.

Enki, however, had also overlooked something.

There were, indeed, very lottle options. In fact, there were only two. Gilgamesh could choose to sacrifice the power of his spirit to try to kill them, which Enki was prepared for, or he could try to break free of the heavenly light.

Whatever he chose would result in his spirit being damaged, following which they could easily overcome him and take him to Heaven's Door.

Yet, Seha was still present.

Realizing this, Gilgamesh knew that he would cause severe damage to himself. He became apologetic, because he did not wish to break his promise to his Father.

Unfortunately, he had to. Their lives were much too important.

Instantly, Gilgamesh emptied himself of all his spirit's power, instantly causing him to attain a golden glow, like the three gods around him.

Enki smirked and prepared for either of the two possibilities he expected, but instead his eyes widened in disbelief.

Gilgamesh, who was still holding Seha's hand, summoned all his power to break free of the spatial constriction.

Then, much to the confusion of the gods, he tossed Seha out of the heavenly light with all his power, sending her shooting through space at an insane speed.

While the gods were trying to figure out why he would have done this, Gilgamesh raised his hand and showed them his middle finger, smirking all the while.

His perception, thanks to him overdrawing the power of his spirit, had grown to far larger radius than before.

So, he locked onto Seha's spirit with his own, and vanished from the eyes of the gods.
