Ghost God's Possession

I had been wandering for hours.

Following the System's instructions, I found myself deep inside the lush forest.

'You did say that there were monsters in this forest, right?'

I complained to the System.

[Answer: Positive, the forest is full of monsters, the host is advised to be a little bit more patient]

'Full of monsters? I haven't even seen a single fly.'

Just as I was starting to doubt the System, I heard a sound.

It was a wet, squishy sound, like someone stepping on mud.

With anticipation, I floated my ghost body towards the source of the noise and after a few minutes, I found myself in a small meadow.

After looking around, I finally found the origin of the squishy sound.

A small basketball sized blob made out of blue jelly-like substance was bouncing around in the center of the field.

'Finally, a living being. I have never seen anything like that before. System, what kind of creature is that?'

[Answer: To inspect something, it is advised that the host uses the command "Inspect"]

'Inspect?'

After thinking about the command word, a blue glowing screen materialized in front of me and started to hover in front of my face.

On the screen were a bunch of strange looking icons and symbols.

'What do these symbols mean?'

[Answer: My apologies, it looks like the host does not understand the local language]

[Translating "Aurora Runes" to the host's native language.. ]

[Translation completed]

The unknown symbols started to change into familiar words and after a few moments I could read what was written on the screen.

'Well, that's pretty useful.'

I thought while reading the words on the screen.

'So it's something called a Slime, the health status is self-explanatory, but I have never heard of this mana thing before?'

[Answer: Mana is a type of energy that is unique to this world. Mana allows both, humans and monsters, to cast magic and achieve supernatural feats.]

'Supernatural feats you say.. But why does it only have 6 of that mana?'

[Answer: Each species has a different way to gather mana, Slimes use their Mana Absorption skill to sponge it up from their surroundings. Usually, the speed at which the Slimes suck up mana is really slow and they use it up faster than they can gather it.]

'That makes sense, so can that Slime use mana to do something cool? Like a big explosion?'

[Answer: Slimes mainly use their mana on their Gel Body skill, which gives them the ability to move and reshape at will. Only on rare occasions can Slimes grow to a level where they can cast magic spells]

'I see. These skill things seem pretty useful, is there any way I can get some skills of my own?'

[Answer: The host is already in possession of a skill, it is advised to use the Inspect function on your own body by using the command "Status"]

I repeated the command word with curiosity.

I started reading the letters on the screen.

'Wow, my mana pool is way bigger than the Slime's, 140 times bigger to be exact. Why is that the case?'

[Answer: The host is a spirit type monster. Spirit type monsters are known to have large mana pools in exchange for their physical forms]

'Okay, got it. Then what about my skill, Ghost God's Possession? The SSS+ in front of it looks very promising, but I can't really tell what it does?'

[Answer: It is advised to use the Inspect function on the skill by using the command "Inspect"]

'So you can use the inspect function on the inspect function? This is getting a little bit too confusing for me.'

I scratched my ghost head with a stupid look on my face and focused on the screen again.

'Inspect'

I said in my thoughts while looking at the mysterious skill.

I looked at the skill's description in total shock.

'Body possession, skill robbing, 100% success chance. This is incredible.'

I was in total awe, It almost seemed too good to be true.

'Hmm, why do I have a bad feeling about this though?'

'I wonder if this would solve my worries?'

'Inspect'

I attempted to use the inspect function for a third time.

'YOU SERIOUSLY COULDN'T TELL ME THAT IN THE FIRST INSPECTION SCREEN?!'

I was enraged. To find out that I would lose my soul when I took any damage in the possessed body is completely game-changing.

'Are you telling me that I will lose my soul when an ant bites my leg?!'

[...]

The system didn't answer me.

I suddenly remembered what it said about my emotional levels and how they might affect my soul, so I calmed down a little bit.

Still, I was not completely calm. I mean, who would be?

To find this insane condition I had to inspect the inspect function while inspecting the inspect function.

Seriously, who designed this System?

Why didn't you just put all of the information on the first inspect screen??

After calming down for a little bit and clearing my head, a scary thought appeared in my head.

'N-no way right..?'

With my ghost eyes trembling, I looked at the skill screen again and...

'Inspect'

[...]

[...]

[ERROR! There is nothing to inspect here]

'Phew! It looks like there are no more surprises at least.'

I sighed a sigh of relief and started to think about the skill.

'I knew it was too good to be true.. But to be honest, even with the soul extinction risk, isn't this skill still too overpowered?'

I thought about the best way to utilize the skill for a while and then made up my mind.

'Since I can't do anything else in this ghost body, I guess I'm forced to use this skill sooner or later, huh?'

After making sure that there were no living beings, other than the Slime, in a 2km radius, I approached the small blue blob of jelly and after a deep breath..

'System, cast Ghost God's Possession on that Slime.'
