So painful were those moments When the earth shook and the seas rose How cheerful life could stand still As though everything was killed All the happiness gone once for all That seemed to me a painful fall Everything I knew wiped away All I could hear was the deafening silence All I could feel was emptiness As if everything was shrouded in darkness All I could hear was my sister crying in madness Adapted from Farah Sherazi's Destruction, Death and Decay.

Chapter 8: Slave Contract

Commander Carol watched on as the bat form of Vivian flew away. She made no attempt to stop her. Raziel had woken up at some point, he looked at Commander Carol and asked, "Why did you not try to stop her from escaping?" Commander Carol looked amused, "It's because I wanted her to escape in the first place. Now, what am I going to do about you?" Raziel answered with a shrug, "You could let me escape too." Commander Carol laughed and said, "What am I going to tell my boss, that I let two level 1 superhuman escape from me?" Raziel trying to stop the bleeding on his leg said, "Miracles do happen." Commander Carol looked over to the destroyer ship and said, "Seems like the battle over there is done and that Vampire seems to have escaped."

Commander Carol picked up Raziel and put him on her motorboat. She started the engine and drove it back to the destroyer ship. On the way back to the destroyer ship, Raziel asked Commander Carol, "What are you going to say happened to the other level 1 on our boat?" Commander Carol just shrugged her shoulders. After getting to the ship, they both climbed up the rope ladders at the side of the ship. Vice-Admiral Rowland asked with an angry face, "What took you so long to capture two weak superhumans? If you had gotten back early, we could have killed Jack here today." Commander Carol replied with a smile on her face, "Sorry boss, I thought you could handle him alone." Lightning flashed across Vice-Admiral Rowland's eyes, he spoke with a menacing tone saying, "Be careful." Vice-Admiral looked at Raziel and said, "You took only one person alive, I've told you to stop killing all the prisoners and leaving only one alive." Commander Carol shrugged and said, "I'm trying to build my reputation, when I kill all the prisoners and leave only one alive to tell the story, it'll make people fear me more. He is a cosmic manipulator. What are we going to do with him? Are we handing him over to the government or you need him?"

Vice-Admiral Rowland gave Raziel a very nasty look. Fear gripped Raziel. He thought about the rumors of how some old men like younger boys. He definitely would prefer to die than suffer such a fate. Vice-Admiral Rowland could guess what Raziel was thinking, walked to him with a scowl on his face and gave him a kick that sent crashing into a wall. Commander Carol burst into a fit of laughter, she said, "The Vice-Admiral certainly does not swing that way though I admit you have a wide imagination."

Vice-Admiral Rowland opened one of the drawers on his desk and pulled out a scroll, he grabbed a knife from his desk and pierced Raziel's hand with the knife. Vice-Admiral then placed Raziel's hand on the scroll, he then proceeded to stab his own hands with the knife and also place it on the other side of the scroll. The Vice-Admiral then summoned lightning and used it to destroy the scroll. Raziel suddenly felt an urge to submit himself to Vice-Admiral Rowland and tried to resist it. The Vice-Admiral looked happy and said, "That is a precious slave scroll I used on you. You're my slave now. This slave scroll is produced by the government and even a Vice-Admiral like me has only received two from the government. I've used up my quota already. The idiot I used the first scroll on tried to betray me but he died. The slave scroll is like a contract, the contract holds the master to zero standards but if you the slave attempt to betray your master, you'll suffer the consequences." Vice Admiral sat on a chair and took measure of the damage his battle had caused, he said to Raziel, "There are three ways for you to break this slave contract. The first method is naturally in the event of my death. The second method is if I break the slave contract myself and the third method is if you become stronger than me, you can break the slave contract."

Raziel with despair on his face, "Why are you telling me this? It's not like there is hope in any of those methods."

Vice-Admiral Rowland curled up the corners of his mouth and then said, "The first method is impossible. I'm going to be a god so I definitely can't die. If you please me, I might release you so the second method is possible. As for the third method, we will see how it goes."
