So painful were those moments When the earth shook and the seas rose How cheerful life could stand still As though everything was killed All the happiness gone once for all That seemed to me a painful fall Everything I knew wiped away All I could hear was the deafening silence All I could feel was emptiness As if everything was shrouded in darkness All I could hear was my sister crying in madness Adapted from Farah Sherazi's Destruction, Death and Decay.

Chapter 11: Mallos's Death

Raziel realised he had made a rookie mistake. Any attack of higher level than himself would naturally injure him. He should have protected himself with cosmic energy before dashing into the cosmic fire.

Mallos was not about to let an opportunity like this go to waste. He opened his mouth spit out water towards Raziel. In mid-air the water transformed into sharp icicles smashing into a cosmic shield made of cosmic fire created by Raziel.

The shield created by Raziel was destroyed but it withstood the impact of the icicles after all Mallos could only use about twenty per cent of his true strength after been severely injured.

Mallos used his tail as a support and propelled himself towards Raziel. He is a bull shark, naturally he has the stronger physique. He thought it was better to play to his natural advantage.

After Raziel's cosmic shield had been destroyed, he wanted to create a cosmic storm to disorient Mallos so as to create time to launch a proper attack. He was surprised to see Mallos closing the distance between them. Using cosmic storm at such a close distance could lead to dire consequences for himself due to the rudimentary grasp of his powers. He hastily used Gravity Warp to try and increase the gravitational force around Mallos to bring him crashing down the floor.

Mallos smashed right through the Gravity Warp and smashed into Raziel. He sent him hurtling through the sky. Mallos expected Raziel to be incapacitated by the attack and chose not to go after him. His priority is getting back into the sea so he that he can escape after all, there was still a destroyer ship with superhumans of unknown levels watching him. His guess is that there must be a level 3 superhuman on it at least because of the nature of the ship.

Mallos started to do a flipflop movement to make it back into the sea. He was shocked to see that the occupants of the sea and gotten down from the ship and surrounded the island. He discovered there was a space where no one was standing. He assumed the humans didn't have enough people to cover the island. He moved faster but was wondering why no one was coming after him.

Boom! That was the last sound Mallos heard, a shotgun bullet had been released less than a meter from him. He had no idea someone was even there. The bullet took out a chunk of his flesh and left a huge hole in it's body. He crashed into the floor writhing. In his last moments, he saw a woman manifest before his eyes. He could not understand how she had been standing so close to him and he didn't even know she was there.

Commander Carol looked at Mallos who was struggling to keep his eyes on her, "You are too weak to kill a level 1 superhuman, how the fuck would you have noticed me standing next to you?"

Vice-Admiral Rowland commanded the officers to cut off the head of Mallos and bring it onto the ship. He walked over to Raziel and placed a hand on his pulse, "Looks like he's still alive." He asked two officers to bring a stretcher and bring him onto the ship.

When they got on the ship, Vice-Admiral Rowland woke Raziel up, "You're lucky to be alive after taking such a direct hit but I guess the Gravity Warp you developed saved your ass. For the next part, I don't care if you're in pain. You have to keep your eyes open and watch this."

Vice-Admiral Rowland opened a compartment on the ship revealing an object that looked like a blender only that it was about a meter tall. He opened the blender and placed the head of Mallos in it. There was a hole the size of a human fist at the button of the blender. He inserted his right fist into it and summoned his energy which manifested as lightning. The lightning powered up the blender and after about 10 seconds he removed his fist. The head of Mallos had disappeared and all that was left was a blue liquid. Vice-Admiral Rowland took out a bowl and opened a tap on the body of the blender and drained half of the blue liquid in the blender. He brought the bowl to his mouth and drank it all.

Commander Carol took Raziel away from the compartment back up to the deck of the ship. Raziel could not control the nausea he was feeling and vomited. Raziel started to wipe his mouth and asked her, "If it was a level 3 human we killed, is that how he is going to blend the head and drink it?"

Commander Carol wasn't surprised he asked. She looked at him in the eye, "Yes. Whether it's a human or animal, you'll have to blend the head and drink it. There's no escaping it if you want to advance and you have to keep advancing in levels if you want to survive in this world."
