The construction of the road from Mondstadt to the new city continued, inch by inch, as the workers, citizens, and travelers pitched in to make Satoshi's dream a reality. Today, however, had an unusual twist in store. Satoshi had expected another regular day of digging, leveling, and paving, but he certainly hadn't expected to find Mondstadt's residents organizing an impromptu roadside festival right in the middle of the construction zone.
It all started with Venti, of course. The bard had been inspired by the spirit of camaraderie and decided it was time to bring some festivity to the hard work. One moment, he was sitting under a tree strumming his lyre; the next, he had disappeared, and by midday, he was back—with a wagon full of decorations, kegs of cider, and some very confused citizens who had agreed to help.
"What's all this?" Satoshi asked, bewildered, as he watched Venti set up colorful flags along the half-built road.
Venti beamed, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "Oh, nothing much! Just thought we could use a little morale boost. What better way to keep the spirit up than a mini roadside festival, right?"
Amber, who had been busy setting up construction cones, stopped to look at Venti. She burst into laughter, her bright eyes full of excitement. "A festival? Here? Venti, you're full of surprises!"
Venti winked. "Why, thank you, Amber! It's not every day you get to party while paving the way to a new future."
Satoshi rubbed his forehead, a smile tugging at his lips. He had long since learned that when Venti was involved, it was better to just go along with it. "Alright, alright. I suppose a little festival won't hurt. But don't let it slow down the work too much, okay?"
---
The transformation of the construction site was almost magical. Colorful banners were strung between trees and construction machinery, tables were set up with food brought in by the citizens of Mondstadt, and Venti had even managed to convince some of the merchants from the previous traffic jam to bring their wares and set up stalls.
Noelle, ever diligent, had taken it upon herself to make sure everything was organized. She moved from table to table, setting out plates and cups, her eyes shining with excitement. "This is going to be so much fun! It's important to take breaks and celebrate our progress, after all."
Klee, who had been helping Amber move some supplies, let out a delighted squeal when she saw the decorations. "Yay! A festival! Dodoco and I love festivals!"
Jean, who had initially looked skeptical, eventually gave in to the festive spirit. She even allowed herself to relax, helping Noelle arrange some flowers on one of the tables. "I suppose this could be good for everyone's morale. We've all been working hard… a little fun could be just what we need."
---
By midday, the festival was in full swing. The workers took turns joining in the festivities, ensuring that progress on the road continued while everyone had a chance to enjoy themselves. Venti, of course, was at the center of it all, playing his lyre and singing songs that had everyone clapping along.
Kaeya had set up a "dart-throwing" game—though, in true Kaeya fashion, it involved ice shards instead of darts. He stood behind the booth, a smug grin on his face as he explained the rules to Diluc, who looked less than impressed.
"Are you sure this is safe, Kaeya?" Diluc asked, eyeing the ice shards.
Kaeya waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, come now, Diluc. It's perfectly safe. Besides, you could use some practice—you know, just in case you need to take up dart-throwing in your spare time."
Diluc sighed, taking a shard and throwing it with surprising precision. It hit the bullseye, shattering into tiny pieces. Kaeya raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "Not bad, brother. Maybe there's hope for you yet."
Nearby, Albedo and Sucrose had set up an alchemical demonstration, drawing a small crowd of curious onlookers. Sucrose was carefully mixing a colorful potion, her brow furrowed in concentration, while Albedo explained the process to the crowd.
"This mixture will create a harmless, colorful burst—a little alchemical fireworks display," Albedo said, his calm demeanor contrasting with the excited expressions of those watching.
Sucrose carefully added the final ingredient, and with a soft *whoosh*, the potion emitted a bright burst of colors that lit up the sky. The crowd cheered, and Sucrose blushed, pushing her glasses up her nose. "I'm glad it worked… it's always a bit nerve-wracking doing these demonstrations."
Albedo smiled, nodding. "You did great, Sucrose. It's all about sharing the wonders of alchemy with others."

Klee, meanwhile, had taken it upon herself to entertain the children who had come with their families to see the construction site. She was leading them in a game of tag, her laughter ringing out across the festival.
"You can't catch me!" Klee called, dodging between the tables with surprising agility. The children chased after her, their giggles filling the air.
Jean watched from a distance, her expression softening as she saw Klee's joy. She turned to Satoshi, who was standing beside her, a content smile on his face.
"This was a good idea, Satoshi," Jean said, her voice warm. "Even if it was Venti's idea to start, you're the one who allowed it. The workers needed this."
Satoshi nodded, his gaze drifting over the festival. "Yeah. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the work and forget why we're doing all of this. Seeing everyone happy like this… it makes it all worth it."
Jean smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We're not just building a road, Satoshi. We're building a community. And this festival is proof of that."
---
As the sun began to set, Venti gathered everyone around for a final song. The workers, citizens, and children all sat down on the grass, their faces lit by the warm glow of the lanterns that had been hung along the road.
Venti strummed his lyre, his voice soft as he began to sing:
*The road we build is more than stone,*
*It's laughter, love, and dreams we own.*
*With friends beside and hearts so true,*
*We'll build a future, bright and new.*
The crowd joined in, their voices blending together in harmony. Satoshi closed his eyes, letting the music wash over him. It was moments like this that reminded him of the importance of what they were doing. They were building something that went beyond infrastructure—they were building a place where people could come together, where laughter and joy could be found even in the midst of hard work.
As the song came to an end, Klee ran up to Satoshi, her eyes wide with excitement. "Satoshi! Can we have more festivals like this when the new city is done? Please?"
Satoshi chuckled, ruffling her hair. "Of course, Klee. We'll have festivals, and picnics, and all kinds of celebrations. This new city is going to be a place for everyone to enjoy."
Klee beamed, hugging Dodoco tightly. "Yay! Dodoco and I can't wait!"
Jean, standing nearby, nodded in agreement. "And we'll all be there, together."

As the stars began to twinkle above, the festival slowly wound down. The workers and citizens packed up their things, the merchants loaded their wares back onto their carts, and the decorations were carefully taken down. The construction site returned to its usual state, but the air was still filled with the warmth of the day's festivities.
Satoshi stood at the edge of the road, looking out at the horizon where the new city would one day stand. He knew that there was still a lot of work ahead, but today had shown him just how much they could accomplish together—not just in building a road, but in building a future that everyone could be proud of.
