Chapter 1Chapter 1 - Once Upon A Time

A long, long time ago, two races ruled over Earth, humans and monsters. One day, a war broke out. Humans feared that monsters would kill them to get their SOULs. It was a long battle, but in the end, humans won, forcing the monsters deep underground in a mountain to be sealed away from the surface by a magic spell, a spell that could be broken by seven human SOULs.

The surviving monsters have made the mountain their new home, and their kind has lived on for many years. But they held a grudge for humans for sealing them away in the deep depths of the mountain.

Years went by, legends about monsters being sealed away, tales of the mountain that said if anyone dared to climb would never return. That was proven because of a child who climbed the mountain called Mt. Ebott and fell into the kingdom of monsters, only for their body to return without their SOUL and then be taken away from the human village.

Humans have hurt the monsters in war, imprisonment, and the death of the prince of monsterkind, it was enough that it was declared that any human who fell would be killed, and have their SOULs trapped in containers to be used to break the barrier that trapped them deep below.

Even if stories were told about the mountain, humans still decided to climb Mt. Ebott. It was unclear why these humans decided to enter the kingdom that said they would kill them, but it was fortunate for monsters as one by one, they would have seven SOULs to be free. Whenever they were kind or evil, they were still humans with SOULs.

Many years went by, monsters had six human SOULs, they needed one more to break the barrier, one SOUL closer to finally being free. Then one more fell, a boy who had an unknown reason to climb the famed Mt. Ebott, fell in the kingdom of monsters. But unlike those who met their ends, the boy had a SOUL that combined all six SOULs into one word, Determination.

With that kind of SOUL, the boy was able to survive the journey of the Underground, with the power to SAVE, the very thing that kept them alive whenever they died, whenever they needed to go back. It was that power that the boy Frisk was able to befriend the monsters they encountered, never threaten, and never raise a weapon at anyone. They only show them love, compassion, and hope.

Then to the monsters' surprise, the barrier broke. They did not remember how it was possible for the human child to survive, but it didn't matter, they were finally free. Monsterkind was able to go back to the surface and began anew. It was all thanks to the human child that never hurt anyone, Frisk Dreemurr, the one who has the Determination SOUL. The person who is kind to everyone around them, the one who is not in control.

That's right, a thing was controlling Frisk, making their decisions, doing whatever they wanted with Frisk, and wanting to know what happened just by a single choice. To Frisk it was annoying and scary what the thing was doing to them, acting like a puppet with no way to break the strings. See what the thing does when forcing them to do something. Feeling like they never had any real connections or felt empty knowing that no matter what the thing does they will never be their own person.

It has been like that ever since they fell in the Underground, Frisk hoped that once they exited the Underground the thing would disappear, but unfortunately, that was not the case at all. Perhaps that is why they fell into the Underground, maybe it was because the thing had always been there without them realizing it. Even if returning to the surface, the thing is still controlling them.

As if that was not enough, the thing tried to see what would happen if they decided to kill monsters, which led to a sinful route. A genocide route that was aborted because the thing "felt" bad and reset everything. As if the dust on Frisk's clothes had disappeared leaving no evidence that they committed genocide, even if it was by force. Frisk would never forget how tragic, depressing, and disappointed in themselves as they allowed it to happen.

They wonder if someday they'll be free from being someone's puppet, to get the chance to finally be the person they were meant to be. To finally make their own decisions, their own choices, to even finally talk without a thing that makes their choices.

* (The breeze around you is calming your stress, you are filled with Determination.)

If Frisk had the will to let out a small laugh, they would willingly do so. But they can't because they are unable to. It is a wonder how everyone around them was able to understand them without them speaking.

Here they are, in front of a house, looking at a shining star, a star that kept them alive. Frisk saw the menu pop up as it shows…

Frisk LV1 999:99

Toriel's House

❤Save Return

File saved.

The fact it was not Frisk who pressed it, it was the thing. They did not know if they should be relieved that they were home, or feel upset that they spend another day listening to another one of Alphys lectures only for the thing to skip anything she said. Just a few steps to the front door, only for them to turn around and walk away.

Frisk sighs as they figure the thing wanted to do another trip around town just for entertainment. Seriously, as if everything the thing has been doing has been looking around to see anything new that it has not encountered. Really a 18 year-old still acting like they are talkless and unable to react to the simplest of things. Years wasted all because of the thing so many times they had to rip their SOUL out of their body just to get a bit of control back.

Frisk could not help but wish on anything that would get them away from the thing, to finally have a say, to have control of their body and SOUL. Just anywhere, anywhere that they could be in control.

Sure they love staying with Toriel, having wonderful friends like Sans or Papyrus, and having everyone as company, but they wish they could finally be free, just as they free monster kind from their prison.

After wishing they noticed they were in an alleyway, and to their surprise Alphys was not there, as she would normally be here at this hour. It makes them wonder where she could be at this time. They walked at the end of the alleyway as if it were just a wall in front of them. It makes them wonder why they are here in the first place. If Frisk could open their eyes they would look around, but only the movement of their head would tell where they are looking.

After moving around they stopped at the center as they noticed a red cube, all the time they went to the alleyway they had never seen a cube here before.

* A strange cube is letting out an ominous aura, it would be bad if you touch it.

* Process to touch it anyway?

❤Yes  No

Of course, the thing would want to touch the cube, as any player would want to know what happens if you touch it. Frisk was very sure something bad would happen but like a puppet, their right arm was raised as their hand was close to touching it. They hope it was just a cube stuck on a wall or something that was made by Alphys and left behind. Still, they touch it and…

Nothing… Nothing happened. Huh… So.

* Rumble

* Something is about to happen.

The cube was suddenly letting out bits of smaller cubes. Frisk started to sweat, they tried to move their arm away, only to see that their hand was stuck on the cube. It wasn't working, no matter how hard they tried their hand was stuck. Soon it covered half of their arm as they called for help… But nobody came, no words came out.

Even the thing was trying to escape, or at least doing something, but it was not working. As if the entity itself was fading away. Frisk could feel it as if a huge burden was beginning to lift itself away. Did the wish hear them? Was the cube helping them?

After seeing the cubes make their way to their upper body, Frisk decided to let it play out, whoever or whatever the cube came from, it was freeing them. For the first time in their entire lives, Frisk had the will to let out a small smile.

The red cubes soon cover Frisk entirely as it begins to make one normal cube. Once that was finished, it vanished, leaving no evidence that it was ever there. Taking Frisk somewhere far, far away.

The Synthesis Wizard

In a world where elements lay barren and powerful wizards had abandoned their homeland a millennium ago to explore the multiverse, Sunan found himself reincarnated as a noble scion stripped of his title. This world, once brimming with magic and wonder, had fallen into a desolate state, and wizards had become mere legends. Sunan was acutely aware that after a thousand years, the elements would awaken once more, heralding the return of the wizards and ushering in a new era of prosperity. He understood that his path was clear: he must train diligently to become a wizard himself and survive until this glorious age arrived. “Resources are scarce?” he mused, determination flickering in his eyes. “Then I’ll just have to synthesize them myself.” With that thought, he activated the Synthesis Cube, a device that granted him the ability to combine materials into something new. This Cube was not just a tool; it was a symbol of his potential in this world, reflecting his status as a player in a game he once played. As he set to work, the Cube glowed with possibilities, presenting him with a myriad of options. He had a few basic materials at his disposal, remnants of his previous life and the knowledge he had accumulated from his past experiences in the game. Sunan began experimenting, combining herbs and minerals he had gathered. Each successful synthesis filled him with a sense of accomplishment, inching him closer to his goal of becoming a wizard. Days turned into weeks, and Sunan’s skills improved rapidly. He crafted potions, improved his understanding of magical theories, and honed his mental abilities through intense meditation practices. The Star Ring Meditation, one of the first techniques he mastered, allowed him to tap into the latent mental energy within himself, enhancing his cognitive functions and magical sensitivity. As he progressed, whispers of his endeavors began to circulate among the remaining noble families and the common folk. Some viewed him with suspicion, while others saw potential in the young man who dared to challenge the status quo. Sunan knew he needed allies. He began seeking out individuals who shared his vision—a return to the age of wizards. He discreetly approached the remnants of the nobility, the few who still held some influence, and began to forge connections. His reputation grew cautiously, and with it, the opportunities to gather resources and knowledge. He learned of hidden libraries, ancient texts, and artifacts that could aid in his quest. One fateful day, while exploring a forgotten ruin, he uncovered an ancient tome detailing the rituals of the wizards who had once thrived on this land. The pages contained knowledge that could accelerate his growth, including spells long lost to time. “This is it,” Sunan thought as he carefully transcribed the contents into his own notes. “With this, I can not only learn the spells but also improve my synthesis techniques.” As he delved deeper into the arcane arts, he realized that the key to his ascension lay not just in personal power but in understanding the intricate web of alliances and rivalries that defined noble society. He had to navigate these treacherous waters carefully. In the back of his mind, Sunan always remembered the impending return of the wizards. The time was coming when he would have to reveal his true potential and lead the charge into the new era. With each passing day, he grew stronger, more confident, and increasingly aware of the responsibilities that awaited him. The world was changing, and Sunan was determined to be at the forefront of that change—a wizard in a world that had forgotten what it meant to wield true power.
