Chapter 16 End of School

They all head to the entrance of the school. The line of cars is as long as the eye can see and it goes all around the block. They all just start walking down the sidewalk. Luckily phones all have GPS tracking so they know which cars are their parents.

Marconi slowly starts to split up from his acquaintances as they get into their cars. Finally Marconi leaves and meets his dad. They drive home.

"So champ", Marconi's dad says "how was school?".

"It was great." Marconi responds, "it's just a bit different. But classes were like any other first day of school. Everyone gave out syllabuses and grading systems".

"Well your mom's going to tell you school is expensive so work hard. I just want you to have fun, make some friends 'kay".

"Thanks Dad", Marconi is inwardly happy, "So what's for dinner?" Marconi asks.

"Chinese food", his dad responds, "mom's cooking so the food may be a bit inedible. "

(AN: slightly worried people will be upset with this with this).

"Oof", Marconi remarks.

"It's your mother and she's really trying. I'll get you a meal before we head home so we don't go to bed hungry. Don't forget to try to eat, it'll make her sad if you don't", Marconi's dad advises.

"I know dad, but can you at least keep a straight face. You make her just as sad as I do", Marconi jabs back.

"This coming from the kid who takes small bites out of his food and doesn't finish. At least I finish the plate, although I get indigestion. I'm surprised I haven't got any food poisoning. Anyway here's Mr. Lee's get what you want here."

Marconi orders a bowl of tomato beef noodle soup, while his dad orders a simple spicy yang chun mian. Like to co-conspirators they eat it in the car and try to be as careful as possible to not leave any evidence. Half an hour later they get back home.
