Chapter 12

The outside of the window was a wide schoolyard, being a few meters away from the gate, with trees and plants that serve as a mini-park and garden on the sides, and was currently being infested with numerous Akumas.

"Is it possible for you to get rid of them in one shot if they were all gathered in one place?" Yuji asked Gin.

"hmmm, I can decrease their numbers greatly, but I can't promise to exterminate them all in one shot," said Gin.

"That might be enough," said Yuji.

"wait!" a random student suddenly talked, "didn't you hear what he said earlier? it would just attract more Akumas, Right!?"

"We're not planning on staying here anyway," said Yuji, "It should just be enough to create an opening for a run,"

"I see... that's quite a plan," said Gin.

"Where are we even supposed to go?" said another random student.

"The extraction point assigned to us, was at the center of the city, which shouldn't be too far from here," said Gin.

"How are we supposed to get there? isn't the whole city dangerous right now?"

"Since it might be too difficult to go in a big group, how about we divide into smaller groups and run for a checkpoint," said Yuji.

"What do you mean?" a random person asked.

"We need to be in a smaller group where all the members can match each other's pace," said Yuji, "that would give lesser chances for us to attract a horde,"

"So, we all separate into groups and make our way to the center?" Said Gin

"We should all still help each other and not stay too far away if possible, and if we encounter some Akuma's on the way... then we'll just have to deal with it," said Yuji.

"That's..." a random person said as if they don't agree.

"That sounds good enough for me," said Gin, "We don't have much time, it's all we got, we need to go,".

As he said that, Yuji went to the window and asked Gin for a hand grenade.

"we'll use it to gather them in one place, what's the direction we're going?" Yuji asked.

"We're going right after we leave the gate," Gin said, as he hands a hand grenade to Yuji.

Yuji opened the window silently and threw the hand grenade on the far right, outside the building.

BOOM*

An explosion occurred on the far left attracting all the Akumas scattered everywhere.

"Alright!" said Yuji, as Gin jumped right out of the window and quickly ran to the Center of the field, he pulls out a syringe, rolled up his sleeve, and injected himself.

Gin's eyes glowed bright yellow, as he pulls out a lighter from his pocket. He turned on the lighter, as its fire burns furiously strong, unlike a normal lighter.

"So he can also strengthen fires!" Said Jaspher.

Then, Gin raised his right hand, as the wild flames from the lighter gathered to go inside of his glove.

"That glove is a specialized weapon!?" Yuji said.

"Yes," the soldier answered, "his gloves contain and produces gas inside, and if he puts his flames inside, it converts to an explosion once it releases on his palm,".

"Wait, he's going to make an explosion from that distance? how is that going to reach the Akumas?" Ryan asked.

"Look,"

Everyone looked at Gin.

They were surprised as they saw him holding a ball of fire, which keeps increasing its size by the second.

"Once he activates the gloves, he focuses all the material into a single shape, and makes a ball of fire, once it touches something, depending on its size, it will cause an explosion," said the soldier.

"Then we have to go now!" Yuji said, "Everyone stick to your groups! people who can inject themselves, do it now!"

After Yuji said that, Ryan handed the case containing Syringes with amplifiers to Yuji, as he takes one and Injects himself.

Layla, Elizabeth, and Jaspher then injected themselves as they follow Yuji and Ryan, going out the window.

"Dang! look at the size of that thing!" said Jaspher, running towards the gate.

The ball of fire was already at a size bigger than their bodies, as Gin holds it up high,".

As Yuji and the others passes Gin, some Akuma's noticed a brim of light, coming from behind them.

The Akuma's which saw the light, turned around and started running towards Gin.

As the other students passes Gin, he threw the large ball of fire at the Akumas, causing a massive explosion, wiping out all the Akuma's on the certain area.

Gin and the other soldiers then ran with the students, towards the outside of the school.

As Yuji and the others made it to the outside of the school, they were lucky to not spot any Akuma's near, yet that fact did not give them any reason to feel relieved, knowing that the massive explosion will attract not just nearby but distant Akumas as well.

The buildings that surrounded the school were already abandoned and seemed destroyed, or had a rush of panic to get out.

"what are we going to do now?" said Ryan, as they stopped by a corner of a building.

"We start to be careful," said Yuji

"We don't have much time," said Gin, as he crouched down behind Yuji, along with the other students, crouched behind them from a distance.

Yuji took a peek at the corner, seeing a few Akumas walking around randomly on the street.

"There's only about six Akumas there," said Yuji, "Each group needs to take down one and start running forward,"

"Among you students, there is only five groups," said Gin, "but if you include us, we can take three of them in an instant,".

"Alright, then we'll take one, were in the front after all," said Yuji.

"We got the one on the left!" Yuji shouted, as he and Gin run towards the Akumas with their groups.

"Someone takes down the two in the middle!" said Gin.

They each took down the Akumas instantly, and continued to run towards the road leading to the center of the city, which was still distant from their location.

As they run, Gin and the other three soldiers, positioned themselves at front.

"Just keep running, we'll take care of the front!" Gin said.

While running, they stumble upon several Akumas on the way, but did not cause them any trouble.

"Hey, Yuji," Ryan said as they run, following Gin, "earlier you said, your ability is useless, though I thought you had no ability?"

"It's pretty useless, so I don't bother correcting anyone," Yuji replied.

"So, what is this ability?" Elizabeth asked.

"When I inject myself, my immune system gets boosted, when I was sick, I tried injecting myself, and I was cured in an instant," said Yuji, "now that I think about it... I never got the same sickness twice,"

Ryan nodded.

"You probably thought, what would happen if I got infected by an Akuma huh?" said Yuji.

Everyone's face says, as if that's exactly what they were thinking.

"People die almost instantly when they get infected, and turn soon after," said Yuji, "I'd rather not know the answer,".

Everyone faced forward and continued to focus on running.

They stopped once again at a corner where there was a turning point, going left and right.

"Where to?" Yuji asked.

"Both ways lead to the same spot either way," said Gin, "we just have to take a lucky guess,".

"Where is Erina's group most likely to go across?" Yuji asked.

"Huh?" Gin questioned.

"I mean where would they likely come from?" said Yuji, "You said they were going to a completely different route,".

"Now that I think about it, they're probably on the left side," said Gin.

"Then let's go left," said Yuji.

Gin smirked and agreed.

And so, they ran to the left then continued to move forward.

After a few moments.

As they were running, they did not find any Akuma's on the road.

Everyone seemed relieved, finding no Akuma's, except for Yuji and Gin, who both have anxious faces.

"What's the matter kid?" Gin said, "you're face seem pretty tensed, aren't you glad there's no Akuma's here?"

"There are dead bodies though..." said Yuji.

"So, you noticed," said Gin, "do you actually know..."

"It's fifty-fifty isn't it?" said Yuji, "in this kind of situation, either were really lucky or very unlucky," he said with a tensed face.

"What do you mean?" Elizabeth asked.

"In this situation, where there are dead bodies and no regular Akuma's to be found, it's either some sort of situation happens where people died or got killed as the thing that killed them continue to move forward, or..."

"Or?" said Layla.

"Or a strong crazy Akuma, that kills even other Akumas is currently running around," said Yuji.

"A.K.A a wild high class Akuma, one of the most troublesome of all," said Gin.

Suddenly, a body came flying down from a building window, three floors above the ground, falls right in front of them.

Shocking everyone, a few people saw the body on the ground that fell from the building. As they looked closely at the body, Yuji's body trembled with nervousness, as he noticed that the body that fell from the building was not human, it was an Akuma.

With that realization, Yuji and Gin did not hesitate to shout "MOVE!", as they run further away from the body, with the other students backing down.

Running back, an unknown entity came crashing down the ground, from the same window the Akuma on the ground came from.
