Gene System

Blake is a young man who has had to suffer through devastation over and over again losing more than just an arm. With no power of his own he could barely stand a chance against others or even be deemed useful by the military. All he can do is accept his sister's help bitterly knowing he can't return it to the same effect. After a series of events a meeting with near death shocks him to his very core changing his life forever. Awakening a hidden element buried deep within his genetic code. The Gene System, an advanced complex genetic technology used to expand and improve the overall potential and direction of evolution for the user's genetic code naturally mapping out and directing where the user should go with the growth they obtain. Not much else is known, only that few on every planet are given one through unknown means. The current state of the world is racked with unbridled chaos as the military fruitless attempts to stop the atrocities committed by the organisation known as the Gene hunters. Seeking to steal and splice any genetic data they can get their hands on by whatever psychotic means whether it be dissection, slow harvesting or cloning ethics are not a concern. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by the gene hunters including Blake's family. Some are never seen again, just used as cows for genetic harvesting over and over again until they dried up never to see their families again. Changes have begun to sprout in the background of earth leading to more and more mysterious events occurring, genetic powers becoming stronger, animals becoming mutated and evolving faster than normal generational lines. All the while in the background an unknown force beyond human comprehension lurks just beyond the veil waiting patiently for the time to run out and indulge in his planet level feast devouring all life in sight. Blake will give his all to overcome these brutal circumstances by whatever means. No matter the pain, suffering or loss he will continue to go forward no matter the cost. Failure isn't a devastation but a stepping stone in his larger goal. In his pursuit to build his strength he wont forget where he came from guarding the weak as someone who grew from that. Seeing the lack of care or acknowledgement to the majority viewed as weak in the military disdain makes him step up as the leader needed to change the structure of this world for the better. In the weak there is strength which Blake knows all too well. His reason to go forward is to become the man he wants to be. The only thing that truly terrifies is the idea of letting it all go, giving up and betraying himself and his potential.

After hours of reading through the journal, Blake is left with a longing for the past as his dads bright smile imprints itself into his mind once again.

"I miss you dad, I don't think that will ever change". Drawing the cigarette in as hard as he can, smoke gets into his eyes.

"Guess that's your way of telling me not to wallow". A melancholic smile forms on his face. Finally getting to the end of the journal. He's met with something entirely out of his expectations.

An address he's never seen before, trying to pinpoint it in his mind he comes up with nothing. Following the momentum of his curiosity he decides to enter it into the planetary net.

After digging through droves of misinformation, he finally gets a solid lead. A vacant run down. Generator building. "Why is this what you were hiding? Surely there's more to it". Letting his interest take the forefront of his mind.

Clothes and shoes are chucked on before he can even second guess himself. Tiptoeing his way down the stairs in a methodical manner. Praying they don't creak like usual.

Lady luck seems to be giving him favor as he manages to quietly descend the stairs without causing a creak. Catching sight of his sister, out cold in front of the tv. The effects of the stress the whole ordeal caused makes itself clear as day to Blake.

Opening the door with the utmost care, the door handle glides through the slot without a noise. "I'll be back soon sis". Trying to suppress his own guilt.

Pulling out a pouch, his trusty keepups are brought out. Attaching them with precision, a rush starts to permeate throughout him, exhaling in the process. "I'm in the mood for a challenge".

Kicking his toes on the ground, humming is heard from the soles of his feet. Becoming an odd comfort for him now. Almost feeling naked without it.

"First stop, Smokes" Getting his priorities straight, he starts to shoot off throughout the silent night humming following him throughout.

A rapid silver trails along the empty roads. Finally getting into his groove. Blasts of wind hit him in the face as he makes his way throughout the city, bringing his mind a sense of ease and comfort as scenery blows by him.

Making his first stop, a vending machine comes into view. A variety of items come on the screen. Essentials to luxuries. The symbol of a star catching Blakes eye. "Too many coincidences i swear dad" Brushing the muck of the symbol it shines bright.

Tapping away, he gets his usual energy drink and a pack of smokes. To his dismay his funds are starting to dwindle. Immediately his selection of items shootout and are caught in a bag.

Grabbing the bag in a hurry and stuffing it away in his pack, hums dominate the air as he's gone with a flash of silver behind him. "Lets see where it was again". His watch projects a screen through his intense speed, showing a clear route towards the address.

Downing his energy drink he crushes the can, storing it away into his pack. Gaining his momentum again. Silver streaks its way throughout the quiet city. The occasional hover car drifting by in the air. 24/7 transport baffled by the boy speeding by this late no less.

Skating his way through the wet concrete, the humm becomes louder. Drifting his way round corners. His cockiness starts to get the better of him as the sight of a pole starts approaching fast.

Immediately his body reacts faster than his mind, sidestepping the pole he continues his momentum by scraping his feet against a stone wall. Sparks shoot off from the friction.

"Just what was that". His body surprised him more than it should. "Didn't The system say something about dexterity, is that the cause". His swirling thoughts flood into his mind, the vision of the world bleeds away as the daydream has him lost.

Before he knows it his feet are coming to a stop seeing the effervescent greenery fluttering its way into the artificial city. The usual comfort it brings Blake isn't there however.

An instinct is felt throughout his core. "Someone's lurking here"

In response to this forming worry, a warm bright sensation is felt. "Don't worry brother, I have your back. Lets see what secrets are waiting to be uncovered" The chirper voice enters his mind calming his oncoming nerves,

"I'll be counting on you Zeus". Clenching his fist he walks back into another unknown. Moonlight guiding him throughout the forest. Following the map projected in front of him, he deactivated his keepups.

"Best keep a low profile for this". His instincts sending shivers down his spine, hairs standing up.

"I know something is here. But what"? Curiosity and worry loom over his mind at the possible threat. Making his way deeper into the forest, his destination is not far now a couple hundred feet.

"Brother. You weren't wrong, there is someone here and there communicating. Through electrical signals no less". A mischievous smile etches itself into the image of Zeus in his mind. "Want to listen in"?

"Is that even a question, Zeus". Anticipation fills him over the endless possibilities this could lead to.

Guiding the waves of electromagnetic signals into his brother's body, Zeus turns Blakes body akin to a radio receiver. Picking up anything in the vicinity "Alright you should be able to pick up on it now".

"Someone's entered our territory, should I take care of it". A gruff voice starts to permeate its way through Blakes mind as if a second set of thoughts were ringing in his mind.

"Eliminate the intruder, we can't let anyone know we're here. We're keeping a low profile. I know there's something more to that generator facility". Stern adamance is heard buzzing throughout Blakes mind. Followed by a familiar translucent screen.

The figure stands up straight on his tree branch, a black cloak clings to him like a shadow. Pulsating, an orb shines in the middle of his uniform. On his sleeve a clear symbol makes itself known. A broken DNA strand.
