Gene System

Blake is a young man who has had to suffer through devastation over and over again losing more than just an arm. With no power of his own he could barely stand a chance against others or even be deemed useful by the military. All he can do is accept his sister's help bitterly knowing he can't return it to the same effect. After a series of events a meeting with near death shocks him to his very core changing his life forever. Awakening a hidden element buried deep within his genetic code. The Gene System, an advanced complex genetic technology used to expand and improve the overall potential and direction of evolution for the user's genetic code naturally mapping out and directing where the user should go with the growth they obtain. Not much else is known, only that few on every planet are given one through unknown means. The current state of the world is racked with unbridled chaos as the military fruitless attempts to stop the atrocities committed by the organisation known as the Gene hunters. Seeking to steal and splice any genetic data they can get their hands on by whatever psychotic means whether it be dissection, slow harvesting or cloning ethics are not a concern. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by the gene hunters including Blake's family. Some are never seen again, just used as cows for genetic harvesting over and over again until they dried up never to see their families again. Changes have begun to sprout in the background of earth leading to more and more mysterious events occurring, genetic powers becoming stronger, animals becoming mutated and evolving faster than normal generational lines. All the while in the background an unknown force beyond human comprehension lurks just beyond the veil waiting patiently for the time to run out and indulge in his planet level feast devouring all life in sight. Blake will give his all to overcome these brutal circumstances by whatever means. No matter the pain, suffering or loss he will continue to go forward no matter the cost. Failure isn't a devastation but a stepping stone in his larger goal. In his pursuit to build his strength he wont forget where he came from guarding the weak as someone who grew from that. Seeing the lack of care or acknowledgement to the majority viewed as weak in the military disdain makes him step up as the leader needed to change the structure of this world for the better. In the weak there is strength which Blake knows all too well. His reason to go forward is to become the man he wants to be. The only thing that truly terrifies is the idea of letting it all go, giving up and betraying himself and his potential.

A frizzy lock of orange cascades down an unconscious girl. A forceful breeze enters her ward. A well mannered man starts to stride in, without a concern for anyone else. His demeanor indicating the gravity of his presence,

"Kiara" Worry washes over him. "Just what did you get into this time, was it one of those punks or a hunter". Anger mixes into the well of forming anxiety. Seeing the IV and his daughter's condition puts him on high alert.

"Sorry Sir, We were just about to send off a message informing you of her condition" The frazzled nurse tries to interject his worry.

"Not swift enough" Scoffing at the incompetence. His only concern was his daughters well being, not the staff.

Wiping away at the blood streaking out her nose. Relief fills him. Focus starts becoming sharper and he finally asks what happened.

"Her bloody nose is a result of overuse of her power". Chiming in trying to appease the important presence before her.

"I know that already, What caused this"! Wiping away a few forming droplets of blood from his own nose. His tone becomes more direct.

"She appeared at our entrance with a boy on her back, he was in critical condition. It's a miracle he even managed to survive".

"If she didn't bring him here, he would have been too far gone to bring back". Delivering the news, a sense of gratitude for his daughter is seen in the nurse.

"Not many would do that". She finishes catching him up on what they know happened, finally leaving the two alone.

"You poor girl, you've been through too much. What made you willing to go this far". Pondering on his daughter's actions he pulls up a chair to her bed. Kissing her forehead whilst he waits for her to awaken.

Awareness finally creeping its way back in, a protective figure fills her view. Guarding her from any anxiety. "Dad, you wont believe it". A joyous expression is seen through her lethargic state.

"I'm already struggling, why did you push yourself this hard Kiara". Worry over the oncoming understanding fills his mind. Just what could have happened.

"I made a friend and I didn't want to let him down". A smile forms on her face, breaking through the stains of her bloody nose.

"I see, I'm glad Kiara" Her fathers worry vanishes seeing his daughter's happiness. Memories flood through him, a similar situation forming in his mind reminding him of his journey so far.

"Have each others back".

3 days later

A nightmare floods Blakes unconscious mind. Remembrance of the past, force feeding its way into him.

"Blake you have to go, you can't stay here" A grim expression forms on the boy's face. Limbs sliced and blood pouring everywhere. His body constantly reforming healing any wound made.

"This is the truth Blake, you are deadweight right now. If you don't go we'll both die" Another arm forms over the stump just created. A vicious clash continues fourth between the boy and the hunters.

"Don't make me say it again Blake, you already know how much this hurts. GO". The boy charges into the fray of the oncoming hunters. A smile forms in the face of death.

"WHILE I DRAW BREATH I WONT ALLOW THEM TO HURT YOU!" The finality of his statement breaks Blake apart.

"DAMIEN!"

The nightmare is shattered, as Blakes mind is thrust into the waking world. Recoiling from the anticipated pain. He realizes it's gone, only leaving the marks of the aftermath.

Burns, splits and torn up muscle all had been restored. Clenching and unclenching his hand he realizes all the pain had dissipated entirely. "What kind of meds are they giving me"?

"I really wasn't dreaming this up" Confusion kicked up in his mind, the familiar screen hovering in front of his vision waiting for him to give a command. Tapping his finger on the race tab, information starts to pop up.

[Energized Human: Dormant genes were incorporated into you, the energy your body received finally awakening them. Full racial line is unknown]

The seamlessness of the screens make Blake continue to question his current reality. "Does it mean the lightning I got struck with? How did I even get this system"? Flashes of the doorway form in his mind, memories of the space he entered make themselves known.

Looking over one thing in particular Blakes world is ringing through his mind upon the revelation. "I have a power"? Silence fills the room as he checks the translucent screen over and over again confirming it's not a dream like many of the past.

Hope starts to enter his mind. Already running through future scenarios where he can do something. "I…..I actually have one". Disbelief and elation fills his being over the prospect of this change.

"Forward". Clenching his fist at this realization. Green static starts to spark off of him. Bringing with it a sense of pain and comfort. "WHAT THE HELL". Breaking through his motivational moment, he recoils his hand back from the sudden pain. His body begins Buzzing and zapping now, static courses down his legs and up his arms.

Finally coming to a close at the Centre point of his chest. The static culminates together like a forming planet until it zaps outward. A familiar tiny being is seen, his ecstatic smile and buzzful vibe making itself known.

"Brother"! Elation comes over the being, travelling up the coursing energy in Blakes body he settles on his shoulder. Looking at him with glee.

"It was all real". Blakes mind now accepts its new reality upon seeing Zeus. His creation burned into Blakes very core. He could never forget him now. Looking over at his newfound tiny brother. "Looks like you've kept the same form from before, I'm glad you weren't just a dream". A smile is seen, as he gives Zeus a noogie.

"Stop, that tickles brother"! Rolling and buzzing on the floor Zeus's infectious laughter fills the room. Zapping away on his brother's shoulder escaping the onslaught of noogies.

Inspecting Blake's whole form. Zeus becomes confused in the process. "I didn't expect this to be your form, you're missing something". A childlike innocence can be felt from Zeus rubbing his chin and looking over his brother.

"I lost my left arm a while back, I had to give it up". Melancholy fills his voice, quickly looking for his cigarette holder. Relief washes over him finding it along with his possessions in the room. Flicking the tab open he finds his emergency cigarette stored in the top of the holder.

"Of course no lighter, why am I not surprised". Rubbing his temple now Blake tries to ease his disorientation.

Zap. A crackling sound is heard from the cigarette in his lips. Drawing from it out of habit, smoke forms in his mouth soothing his frenzied mind.

"I had a feeling that might help, Brother". A cheerful smile is seen on Zeus's face. Sparking with delight.

"One more thing, a gift I think might help you" Surging into Blakes chest now, Zeus flows throughout the currents of his bio energy. Finding his way to the stump now.

Gathering all of Blakes bio energy he can control, he begins to send it to Blakes left stump. After minutes of this, Blake just assumes he wasn't meant to know until. Chime.
