Gears smiled, so she thought he was gorgeous and would make an excellent mate. Gears rubbed his hand over his head and froze, could Carina be his second chance mate? Could she want him and love him, could he, her? She had already wormed her way into a small section of his heart, could he let her have the rest?

“You’re dumb as hell. That is what I have been telling you, you fool.”

Jynx huffed out before he walked to the back of Gears’ mind and lay down.

“She didn’t reject me.”

Carina froze in mid-rant.

“What?”

Gears sat up, the blanket falling away showing off hai muscular chest and arms. Carina almost had to catch herself from drooling.

“My mate, she didn’t reject me.”

Gears looked a little lost, sadness overtaking him.

“She passed away.”

Carina gasped and sat on the edge of his bed putting a hand on his leg. Jynx jumped up in excitement, but Gears blocked him out, this was not the time for a horny mutt to act up.
