Vol.2 Ch.3: The Story of Battle of Alnus Hill

A week before the Battle of Italica is the day when the Saderan Empire declared war on the Grand Germania Empire, during that time Germania has been unified under the flag of Preussen, Baden-Wruttenburg, Bayern, Osterreich, and Letzebuerg after a devastating war with Empire Francais a year ago. The empire grew rapidly with huge modernization on living standard, food supply, and public service. Under the rule of Kaiserin Victoria Louise Arthur Von Hohenzollern, the empire lived in peace, until a new threat just spread the whole nation.

[Imperial Parliament, Berlium, 5 days before the Battle of Alnus Hill]

"Order! Order!" John Bartosz, Head Speaker of the Imperial Parliament addressing the house and kingdom representatives to silence as the section starts.

"Order! The section now begins! Your Imperial Majesty, Lords, house and kingdom representatives, today we are gathered here to discuss the matter of the Saderan Empire's declaration of war. Each member can debate and ask her majesty the empress questions. Your majesty."

Victoria makes her way to the front stage and begins her statement, "Lords, representatives from Germania. A day ago, we received this paper, a paper statement of war declaration on us."She holds the paper in the air as the audience cries out in surprise. Then one of the lords stands up to ask a question.

"Your majesty," speaking from the audience is Lord Mald Kalive, a tiger clan, lord representative of Baden-Wruttenburg. "I am afraid that there is a serious problem we need to tackle. Referring to the geographic location of my state is above one of the vessel kingdoms of Saderan Empire, the Kingdom of Elbe. Consider my state has the most demi-human population, if the Saderan sends the Elben to attack us as their first move, they might loot everything including my people to slavery!"

The parliament is in full agreement as John Bartosz keeps the section in order.

Then Fen Erdoun, a High Elf, kingdom representative of Bayern speaks up, "I agree with Lord Kalive as same for my people." He coughs a bit and continues, "My people have been haunt by the Saderans for decades. We managed to immigrate to Muich as our new peaceful home and kingdom, however, they sent spies and kidnapped our princess and sold her as a slave years ago. How can we ensure my people still save away from those scavengers?"

Now the whole hall is full of discussion and debate, Victoria raises her hand as the crowd falls in silence. "I have seen slavery in Saderan Empire with my own eyes," she continues. "Brutal, violence, and harassment all over their lands. Is that what we call 'slavery rights'? NO! THAT IS TYRANNICAL!" The hall fills with shouts of agreement.

"They thought that humans are the most superior race in the world, I think not! I have made promises to every one of you, your people, your countries, and I swore an oath to protect all of you under my power and our grand empire!" Victoria said her speech with tears. "As Daughter of Ciri, I have the task to maintain this land, this continent with full equal rights for all races. This empire under my rule has been achieved what my people want. But for that empire, I could not leave my eyes on them!"

Then suddenly, some members of the audience stood up and shouted, "We must fight back!" "We can't hide ourselves and our own tribes!" Then follow up with all the lords and representatives, they declare themselves to war.

"This is what makes us unite in Germania, our people spirits in their inner hearts!" The audience cheered on Victoria's speech. "Then we shall show them who we are!"

[Frontline Fortress, Alnus Hill, a day before the Battle]

After two days of travel from the land of Bayern to Alnus Hill, the Imperial Germania Army is rushing the construction of their fortress. While settling all war machines, Victoria is discussing with Moltke about the defence lines with a view from another hill.

"Machine guns pit within the first line along the infantry divisions would be more effective to hold the line," stated Moltke. "With our current Maschinengewehr A08 can sweep the land, enemy's shields won't block the bullet penetration so easily." Victoria nodded, "What about light motors? Our heavy artillery cannot shoot this close to the first line of trenches."

"We can arrange that," he replied.

[Far from the fortress]

Meanwhile far away from the fortress, two demi-humans and a human, who are recon soldiers from the Jäger-Batl.Fürst Bismarck (Pommersches) Nr.2 riding on a motorcycle with a sidecar to patrol around for investigating any enemy movements.

After an hour patrol, they rest near a river with forests behind. Carl Reeds, a male Oberjager (Corporal in Jager Regiments) is surveying the surrounding territories from a small bumpy hill, but with his two colleagues are playing in the river stream with their boots off.

"Seriously Sergeant, why are you ladies are playing around while I am doing my job?" Carl is moaning as he continues to survey the landscape.

While complaining, Sergeant Duli, a female warrior bunny from Baden-Wurttemburg replied, "Come on Carl, you don't need to be worry all the time as you know I am more awareness than you."

Climbing up to the streamside with Gefreiter (Private) Luna, also a female warrior bunny but from Preussen said, "We know our surroundings so don't need to be our bodyguard all the time."

"As long as I am a bunny like you with long ears, right?" Carl is imitating as a bunny as the girls laugh.

At night, about 45 minutes later, looking from the site they spot an army camp 150 yards away.

With a binocular on, Carl reports to Duli, "That purple flag must be the Kingdom of Elbe, and I see five figures entering into a big tent."

"Do you recognize those figures?" Asked Duli while Luna picked up something with her ears. "They are the kings of the vessel kingdoms from the Saderan Empire, they are discussing the coming tactics for a morning raid tomorrow."

Carl whistles, "Wow, your tribe can hear and see such a distance far away."

Duli punches his head with a helmet on, "Shut up! Or I kick your crouch if you mess up the intelligence."

As Luna listens, Duli notes down everything into her notebook. "So the kingdoms are acting as offensive tomorrow morning with a total 100,000 men they have, but they will send 10,000 for the first wave led by two kingdoms."

After Luna is done hearing, she adds in, "They also joke that we have such a small army to face them."

"Idiotic scavengers," replied Carl. "Soon they will know our might."

Suddenly, Duli picks up an arrow and ties it up with a paper scroll, then holds up the bow and shoots an arrow in a long-range. "That would do. Let's go, our job is done."

While returning to their transport, Luna asks her. "Why do you do that for the Sergeant?" She smiled, "It's a secret." They ride on and return to their way to the fortress.

The next early morning, two kingdoms with their combined army march towards Alnus Hill. King Duran, ruler of Elbe leaves his tent and looks up into the sky from the camp. "So it is time we join them in battle," he said and a messenger comes just in time to inform him.

"My lord, the two kingdoms almost arrive at Alnus Hill for assault." (who is talking?)

"Great, and the Imperial Army?" As Duran asks. T

The messenger replied, "I'm afraid that there is none a single imperial troop has been seen nor spotted on the hills."

"What did you say?!" the king's eyes widen.

"Where is the imperial army?" One of the kings on horseback asks his subordinate. "I have no idea, sir." "They couldn't be..."

With inexpectation, the Imperial Germania Army is already in defence position as they wait for the enemies to enter their kill zone.

From the command post at the third defence line, Victoria is looking through an artillery periscope binocular.

"What are your orders, your majesty? Should our infantries attack in range?" One of her staff generals asked.

"No no, there is no need for them to attack today, let them rest as the artillery do their job," Victoria replies.

Then Colonel Georg Bruchmuller, head officer of the Imperial Germania Artillery asked, "So you want a full salvo of shells to shatter those enemies, your majesty?"

Walking away from the binocular, Victoria turns to him, "Yes, fire at them until their bones are crushed to dust."

After the two kingdom armies arrive, several whistling sounds can be heard from the sky. As they look up, multiple explosions erupt between the army as they are vaporizing everyone instantly.

King Duran looks from a hill behind with his widened eyes, he can't believe what he saw. Two kingdom armies are gone, without any survivors. The allied kingdom's first offensive with approximate 10,000 deaths.

Later at noon, the rest of the kingdoms continued to join forces in the second attempt but were crushed by such overpowered artillery fires with decent bombs dropped from biplanes from the Imperial Germania Air Force.

The allied kingdom's second offensive is a total failure, with approximately 40,000 deaths. Even though they tried a night assault on the fortress, they were still defeated with heavy losses, the whole army evaporated into the abyss.

And so, the war continues to rage on as the Saderan Empire has stepped onto a griffon's tail.
