Doubts

When the gate is activated, the human body experiences an energy surge that enhances the physical body and grants the person abilities unique to his gate. The criteria that determine the type of gate that one gets is unknown but there are suspicions as to why some receive powerful gates from the moment they appear here and why some receive gates that are pitiful.

Outside the room, a conversation is heard between Mr. Klaus, the old man that created the thoughts of doubts about Kiva in the other villagers that were present in Leo's room, and Samael, a younger man who seemed to be in his thirties.

"Are you sure about what you are saying, Mr. Klaus? Kiva is one of the strongest soldiers in the fighting force and everyone knows that she is loyal to the village and has its welfare and development at heart. If she says that Leo has the characteristics of a wielder of a powerful gate, then she might actually be right. Every member of the fighting force has weak gates and only got stronger by evolving their gates, and we all know how risky that is. If our village was to gain a powerful MENZHU, our village could finally change for the better, all the other villages might finally start to respect us as one of the superior villages and we could gain the benefits of being one. We just have to believe in Kiva's judgment."

Mr. Klaus gave out a malicious laugh.

"The only reason you are talking like this is because you didn't see the so-called Leo. I might even be stronger than him. Kiva must be up to something if she thinks that she can pass him off as a Menzhu. Or doesn't she know that the truth will still get out once we find out the type of gate he possesses?"

"I don't know about you Mr. Klaus but I appeared here when I was just a teenager, and I have lived in this poor village ever since without any hopes of getting a better life. I choose to believe in her and in Leo."

Mr. Klaus's doubts almost looked like he didn't want the village to get better. But just what would he gain if the village remained poor.

Meanwhile, in another house, some distance from the one that Leo was in was 3 girls, with two lying on the bed in a seductive manner while the third sat on the edge. They were all beautiful and were around the same age or younger than Kiva. They discussed the possibility of Leo's power actually being the real deal and this excited them.

"Just imagine the changes that we would experience once his strength is confirmed, strong men and women from other villages would attempt to relocate here and gain the favor of a new Menzhu and at the same time increase the power of our fighting force."

"Listen here Kate, you are missing the big point here. When we gain the recognition of the other villages, then I could grab myself a big strong man, that could protect me and provide me with everything I desire. Come to think of it, Leo is quite tall and handsome, he might be a bit tiny but I'm sure that with a little meat, he could become the man of my dreams. A man with a strong body and a powerful gate. And combined with my beauty, would make us a powerful couple."

The third girl sitting on the edge was quiet and collected. She sat down with her back turned to the other girls and was seriously thinking about something.

[KICK]

Olivia, the girl obsessed with finding a strong man landed a soft kick on the girl sitting at the edge.

"Hey Gwen, what are you thinking about. Aren't you happy about the changes we are about to experience in the village?"

The kick startled Gwendolyn since she was totally immersed in her thoughts. She turned around with a mean look to glare at Olivia.

"Now why did you do that Oli? You know I get scared easily. Next time just tap me instead."

"Ok Ok. So tell us."

The girls changed their positions and brought their heads closer to Gwen as if getting ready to gossip.

"So tell us. What do you think about me dating Leo?"

"Why are you always thinking about men, I think the welfare of the village is more important than your love life."

"Shut up Kate. I'll ask for your opinion when I need it, thank you very much. So Gwen, what do you think."

Gwen watched them for a short while before letting out a sigh.

"I hope I'm wrong about this and I mean really wrong, but I don't that Leo is a Menzhu, I don't even think that he's strong."

This shocked Olivia and Kate. They quickly got angry with Gwen and demanded to know why she would say something as ridiculous as that. Gwen went on to explain her encounter with him and how he demanded to know her name and the fact that he was very friendly with her.

"Is that all Gwen? That's what made you come to the conclusion of him being weak?"

They both began laughing hysterically at Gwen.

"Oh wow, Gwen. Does it mean that you never dated anyone before appearing in this world? That's how all men behave towards beautiful women. Don't scare us like that."

Gwen never thought of Leo's friendly attitude towards her as a sign of him flirting with her, but then again, she had never really been asked out by anyone because back when she was on Earth, she always went out with her friends that were far more beautiful than her, so naturally, guys always went for her friends and the few that approached her were rude and acted like she was lucky to have been approached by them since she was not that beautiful, at least when compared to her friends.

"Could that really be why he was so nice to me?"

"Definitely. But don't think for a second that I would let you snatch him away from me."

Gwen couldn't help but blush at the thought of Leo being attracted to her. But deep down she knew that he wasn't nice to her because he liked her, but because that was just who he was and someone with a personality like that always ended up being weak.
