Chapter 26: Promotion

Things started changing after the alien attack incident. Kurono's class was sealed, and temporarily unavailable to be used for class session. The only two students that survived from that class also got transferred to another class, which was the class where Izumi got transferred to as a new transfer student.

The two students who survived were Kurono himself and Ryouko Shinozaki. That day, when the alien attacked, Shinozaki didn't come to school because she caught a fever. Thus, she luckily avoided the massacres.

Although they got transferred to another class, the two still become a deskmate. Inside the new class, they can be said to be more familiar to each other, compared to the students in the class. Though, the two still feel some gloominess, especially for Kurono, who have seen the dead bodies of all his classmates.

As the two once again become deskmate, they often talk to each other, and become a good friend. Even when it was time for a class break, the two would often just sat in their seat, and have their own sweet conversation.

Another changes is that Kurono and the other Gantz fighters started to train and improve their fighting capabilities. The sudden alien attack outside of Gantz caused them to feel the sense of lacking in their ability. Thus, Kurono and the others started finding ways to improve themselves.

Every morning, Kurono will do a training session with Sakuraoka, and Kishimoto. These exercise are more on learning and improving martial arts skills. Sakuraoka is already a very proficient martial art practitioner, while Kishimoto is a total beginner in this. Thus, Kurono planned to help Kishimoto gain and improve her fighting abilities.

Kurono become a harsh teacher that teach martial techniques to Kishimoto, in order to improve her fighting prowess. This caused the timid girl to slowly gain her confidence in protecting herself.

Sometimes, Sakuraoka also took turns to spar with Kishimoto, and taught her how to fight. This greatly helped Kishimoto to get used to using martial arts when fighting. Although the training sometimes was not to her liking, Kishimoto still appreciated it. She know that training is for her own good, and she was grateful that there are Kurono and Sakuraoka to teach and guide her in her learning.

Other than training martial arts, Kurono also started to train and get himself familiar with the use of the weapon given by Gantz. He remembered in the comic that Kurono were able to lock and shoot multiple targets at once using the Gantz artillery weapon. So, he started to experience it by himself.

By experimenting on it, Kurono found out that it was true that the gun can lock multiple targets. The X-gun, the X-shotgun, and the Y-gun shared the same function, locking on to multiple targets by pulling the upper trigger.

However, the shooting function for each of the three are a bit different. The X-gun will send out compressed energy that will explode after it get absorbed into the target, though with a delayed time of effect. The X-shotgun capable of shooting the same ammo like the X-gun, but for a longer range, up to one kilometer. As for the Y-gun, it launches a three 'laser-anchor' that connected by laser rope. Once it touched the target will be bound by the laser rope, and the laser anchor will be buried into the ground, fixing the targets in one place.

Other than experimenting the uses himself, Kurono also shared the knowledge to his three teammates. This way the others can also understand the way to use those weapon, and be able to use the weapon effectively.

Today was a school day like usual for Kurono. Sakuraoka volunteered to send him and Kishimoto to their respective school.

"Hei Kurono. I think I won't be able to stay much longer at your house."

"What? Why?" Kurono blanked for a second, for he is so shocked to hear Kishimoto's words.

"Are you tired of staying with us?" asked Sakuraoka, who is driving the car.

"It's not like that. It just that my mother is starting to become suspicious of me staying away from home.

She called and asked me, where have I been staying all this time. She also wanted me to go back home. Otherwise, she will report me to the police station as a missing child. So, I agreed to come back home." explained Kishimoto.

Listening to her caused Kurono to feel sad.

"Don't worry, It's not like I am not going to your house anymore. I will go and stay at your house sometimes."Kishimoto tried to persuade Kurono to not be sad.

"Well, alright. Just promise me that you will drop by sometimes at my place." Kurono sighed, and slowly agreed.

After sometimes, the car arrived to Kurono's school, and he get off of the cars.

*Mission 10: Challenge the boxing club for a fight.

Mission details: Challenge the best fighter in the boxing club, and win the fight.

Rewards: 2 strength stats, 1 free coupon for System Market.*

As soon as Kurono entered the school perimeter, Freya issued a mission for him. This is already the tenth mission that he got from her. To complete the first nine mission, Kurono was asked to challenge the club for Karate, Kendo, Judo, Aikido, Archery, Bojutsu, Sumo, Jujutsu, and Wrestling.

As for his rewards, Kurono accumulated five strength stats for the first five mission, and got 2 strength stats in each of the next mission. So, right now, he already gained a considerable amount of strength stats.

"I should be able to complete the tenth mission easily with my current strength." murmured Kurono. He then decided to check his own stats.

Right now, even without the Gantz suit, Kurono is still twice much more powerful than any average human. That's why he was very sure that he could win the tenth mission.

As expected, during the class break time, Kurono challenged the boxing club, and didn't take long to win against the boxing club captain. After that he walked back to his class while redeeming his rewards.

One free coupon for System Market was then delivered to his store. Seeing the free coupon, it caused Kurono to fall into deep thought.

"Hey Freya, just to confirm, I can use this coupon to buy any one item in the store right?"

*You are correct host. So, please think carefully, and use it wisely.*

"Alright. Thanks for the advice."

Kurono then browsed the System Market. After a while, his gaze fall onto an item. This item intrigued him the most. At the same time, he also get a very dangerous feeling about it. After struggling on his decision for a moment, he finally bought the item.

'I hope I don't have to use this ever. But, I still wanted to see just once the mushroom impact of this thing. Though, hopefully I don't mistakenly clicked on it and used it here in this place. It will really be the end of the world if I did that.' spoke the excited Kurono, silently.

"So Freya, do you have more mission for me?" asked Kurono.

*Sorry host. As a replacement, I'm only allowed to give ten mission to you. Now that you already completed it all, I will be called back. However, there will be another girl System Entity that will replace me.*

"So early? You only have been with me for a couple of days."

*Well, that's the rule, host. Anyway, thank you for completing all my mission. I will be off then. As for my replacement, she should be coming to you tomorrow."

After that, Freya left Kurono happily. She managed to complete her task very quickly, compared the other Entity that got tasked to temporarily replace Kurono's main System Entities.

After Freya left, Kurono started to feel bored. The class is not really fun. Moreover, the Izumi guy keep staring at him, making him feel uncomfortable. The students in the new class is not really enthusiastic to talk with him.

"Are you feeling bored?" asked Shinozaki when she saw Kurono was laying his head on the table.

"Kind of. Everything changed, and the class is still as boring as ever."

"Well, cannot agree more to that. Hei, why don't we just go hangout somewhere else?"

"Huh? Where to?"

"You know. Just go out and play. Or we can go do what you did, challenging any combat oriented school club."

"Uh, did you stalk me doing those challenges?"

"... I'm just curious of you activity. But you are really strong. You managed to defeat all those strong fighter in those club. I really admire you."

"Thanks I guess. But, I already decided to stop challenging anymore fighting club. I feel a bit tired to do that."

The two keep chatting that it irritates the teacher who is doing the lecture. Annoyed, he threw a book at Kurono.

Kurono instinctively caught the book. As soon as he caught the book, he frowned. He was reminded of his death in the previous life. He looked at the teacher and said, "Hey, don't just go throwing book to someone. Are you trying to kill me?"

The class turned silence!

This guy dare to scold the teacher? Everyone in the class found this boy very interesting.

"Kurono! How dare you scold your own teacher. Are you no longer interested in learning in this school? Do you think I don't have the power to expel you out of school?"

"Expell? That's sounds good to me. Well, do whatever you want, Mr. Takura." answered Kurono. He then stood up and started going out of class."

"Punk! Where do you think you are going?"

"Going for a walk. Well, just take it as if you are punishing me for interrupting your lecture. See ya."

Kurono then left. Shinozaki looked at the guy interestingly. She smiled, and decided to follow him.

"You. Where I you going?" the teacher frowned when he saw another student was walking out of the class.

"I'm going to the toilet." replied Shinozaki. Saying so, she happily run and followed Kurono, causing the teacher to feel anger sprouting in his heart.

Another guy stood up and calmly walked away. That guy is Shion Izumi.

"Hey, Izumi. Why are you leaving?" the teacher frowned to see the best student in the class was leaving his lecture.

"Sorry Mr. Takura. I have something to do in the library." said Izumi, still walking and not looking at the teacher.

After that many of the students started to stand up and leave the class.

"What are you guys doing?"

"I'm going to toilet."

"Me too."

"I...I am going to infirmary. I think I've got some headache."

"Me too."

"Me three."

"I'm going home."

Everyone gave some nonsense excuse just to go out of the class.

"Arghh! Fine! Go out all of you. I don't care anymore." Mr. Takura was feeling vexed that his tears is almost coming out.

While Kurono walked out of his class, he was thinking of some kind of training. He was thinking of training the psychokinesis skill that were used by the two people who will enter the Gantz Room in the future.

"I already increased my intelligence by adding some basic stats in it, and my mind frame should be better than those two who can use the Psychokinesis ability. I should be able to learn those ability, right?"

*Host, you are correct. You should be able to learn those skill easily.*

"Huh!? Freya, why are you here? I thought you said that you are going back."

*I already did. And now I'm here again. Can you guess why?*

"What is with the guessing game? Just tell me what is happening."

*Hehehe. I was promoted because I successfully gave out ten mission, and all mission was completed within a short time. Now, I'm officially your System Entity.*

"That also can happen? Congrats then. By the way, what will happen to Rose, and her pending mission?"

*She will have to work harder to find new host. As for her given mission, it will still valid. If the host completed it, you still can get the respective rewards.*

"...I see."

*Okay, forget about her. I got new mission for you. It's my official mission for you as your System Entity. So, it will be a first mission once again.

Mission 1: Fight Daizaemon Kaze, the Bajiquan expert.

Mission details: Defeat Daizaemon Kaze using Bajiquan technique.

Rewards: 3 Dexterity stats.*

"Huh!? Kaze? Is it already the time he come to this school to find and fight strong fighters?"
