Between Mates

/"Where do you think you're going?/" A velvety voice said behind me, before I felt two huge arms hug me from behind, engulfing my whole being, /"You're not thinking of stopping the fight, are you?/"

/"Maybe?/" I whispered, sounding out of breath.

And damn, is it new year already? These sparks are better than the fireworks even at the fourth of July.

Immediately stiffening at his touch, I felt Alastor put his chin on top of my head while he tried to soothe my arms by rubbing it with his hands. As if that would actually calm me down and not get my wolf all woozy and hormonal and illogical.

I could practically hear my wolf wanting to get pregnant there and then!

/"I don't think you should. It's a thing between mates that you shouldn't try to meddle in,/" he whispered.

I tried to crane my head to the side to look at him, but my head only went as far as seeing his shoulders, /"You know?/"
