An open book was on the side with a drawing of an ugly green monster and the words, "Gnome, TakeASpearHit".

TakeASpearHit opened his eyes and sat up. While he was lying down, walls were built around him and a ceiling constructed above him. There were other Gnomes, Goblins, and Houndhead Men lying in the house. The ceiling had a small hole and a ladder attached to it so that they could access the second floor.
