The proving ground was considered dangerous, but it was extremely rare for it to be this dangerous.
Usually, only a couple of people, especially in the outer region, would die, while the inner region was considered the most deadly, that is why the strongest were only allowed to enter it.
But what happens inside the tempering ground was not in the control of the sect. It was a sacred place that was found by the founding elder; only minuscule changes and adaptations were made since then.
All of the outer region disciples have exited right now. Right now, all of the elders already have either started celebrating or already went away into their own district to rest.
But the elders right now were still all looking at the gate and at the formation, eagerly waiting for the most promising disciples still to return. They were the disciples that went into the inner region and were even more in danger.
