Chapter 16: Bleak Falls Barrow Part 1

Just before exiting the building she grabbed a thick fur cloak and tossed it over my shoulders.

"It's quite cold up there, and that Thief could only be heading for one place on that mountain, an old Nordic structure by the name of Bleak Falls Barrow, no one knows what's in there and no one had gone exploring the place in ages, who knows what you will find up there," She informed me as she led me out the town.

As we crossed a bridge and began climbing the mountain she showed me the path that led up to the 'Nordic Tomb' she spoke off and parted ways with me and headed back to town.

She also warned me that they have seen sightings of a few bandits coming up and down the mountain every few days and that they would be up there when I arrive.

I then spent two hours climbing up a dirt path that leads up the mountain and found that it was getting colder and colder with every minute that passed as I climbed.

Although the fur cloak was warming me up a bit, it wasn't really protecting me from all the cold, especially my face and hands, luckily it did wrap around my body and had a hood so my body was somewhat warm.

I was quite jealous that, apparently, Nords were naturally resistant to the cold, I was informed by Ralof on this and he said this was why most of their soldiers didn't wear greaves, gloves, or thick warm clothing because the cold weather of Skyrim barely bothered them.

He said that researchers found that their Cold Resistance went from 10% all the way to an astounding 50% with special Nords, and here's the kicker, this resistance also grants them resistance towards Ice and Cold Magic!

Seriously, how absurd is that!

Ralof even told me that every single race had some kind of buff or ability to them!

He told me that the Elves were natural mages that had an affinity for magic with the Dark Elves being resistant to heat rather than cold like the Nords and even had the same percentages as the Nords when it comes to their heat resistance.

Although I would love to continue talking about the races I learned about with the little time I spent with Ralof, I soon reached the end of the path and found myself in a blizzard!

Shivering through the blizzard I continued on forward and was surprised to find that the Blizzard soon cleared up, revealing an old tomb in the mountain.

The structure was covered with snow and I could see some figures walking around the structure!

These must be the bandits she talked about, there are not too many up there, just three.

Although, from the looks of it, two of them have bows...

Well at least I have had some practice with the bow, I am still terrible though, but I can get my arrows somewhat near the target.

Pulling the bow out from my inventory I snuck towards the nordic ruin and knocked an arrow.

Taking a deep breath, I rose the bow and took aim before letting go of the arrow.

I watched as the arrow silently flew through the air before accurately striking one of the men with a bow in the head!

It appears my aim was blessed

And even better, neither of the other two bandits heard a thing as the man fell from the structure to the ground below.

Knowing that my luck wouldn't be so good the next shot, I put away the bow and snuck as close as I could to the two other men by climbing the stairs up the ruin before charging at the man with the bow on his back.

He quickly reacted as he pulled out an iron dagger and attempted to defend himself, but with a shield bash and a thrust of my sword he died.

Feeling my entire body grow cold, I dodged to the side as Danger Sense activated, allowing me to dodge the lethal axe swing of the last bandit's large great ax.

"Damned bastard!" the bandit cursed as he attempted to lift the heavy weapon, but I dashed forward and cut into his hand with my sword, making him drop the axe onto the ground.

Ignoring the man's loud screams I ran my sword through his chest.

Sheathing my sword, I looted their bodies of valuables and consumables and placed them into my inventory.

I got some food, some Septims, and two quivers with around 30 iron arrows.

I also found that one of them was using a better bow than the plain wooden one I had available to me, and I promptly switched it out.

With that done, I approached the giant round doors of the nordic tomb, hopefully, I will not have to go too far inside to find the thief and will be able to return before nightfall.
