Victor Di Natale

My name is Victor Di Natale.

I once died and yet, I am alive to tell the story of the Di Natale family. Today is my birthday. 18 years of age. Finally, an adult again.

In my first life I was a chemist working in a large pharmaceutical company in Germany. My life was not special. A typical german working class, maybe a bit more fortunate than others. But I used too much time at work, to the point where I was living in the laboratory.

My death was as unspectacular as my life. But there really is no point wasting too much time on my past life. Apart from a lot of knowledge on pharmaceuticals I gained nothing of value.

But somehow death was not the end for me. Not that I did anything special to deserve this new adventure, I am certainly grateful to whatever magical power made it possible.

I was confused at first. I couldn't control my thoughts and was imprisoned in a body I couldn't really use at first. Most of the time I was in a trance or sleeping. After a few days. or even weeks, who knows, my thoughts slowly became clearer, and I started to notice my surroundings.

Most of the time I was in the loving hands of a gentle woman. I couldn't really see her all that clear at first and I didn't understand a word she said. Slowly my brain capacity increased and my body got stronger. My thoughts became clearer, and my memories started to surface. I was confused. Very confused.

A middle-aged uncle turns into a small child and is being fed by the breasts of a woman, while not being able to even control his bathroom time. The first months were like a fever dream.

I suppose it took me roughly three months to start crawling in my room and slowly explore this new world. In hindsight this was the first time my extraordinary physical talents showed, as most infants start crawling at around 5-10 months of age.

I managed to recognize more people. My father, a rather brute and muscular man. We had a rather strange relationship as he tried to be extremely careful while touching me with his calloused hands.

I really didn't understand how the relationship between my mother, a gentle and refined woman, and my brute of a warrior father was functioning, at first.

Even though my mother seemed to love me very much, it paled in comparison to my grandparents. They seemed to want to catch the stars for me, especially my grandmother. She honestly looked more like a sister to my mother, than her elder. Those were my first impressions and clues to the type of world I was reborn into. A patriarchic world, where woman took care of the children and seemed to give birth at a very young age. The men seemed like warriors and the women seemed like refined ladys. On top of that we had many servants, most of them maids. All seemed very well behaved and had beautiful appearances.

During my first year in this new world, I had the idea of being reborn in a noble family during the Middle Ages. The only real doubt I had was the language. For the love of God, I couldn't even slightly recognize it. I had to learn a completely unfamiliar language by scratch. I was suspicious. I was never a language genius, but I could at least recognize the different European languages. But nothing was like the language of my family. I slowly started to become suspicious of the world I was born into. If something as miraculous as rebirth is possible... why not in an entirely different world?

My thoughts seemed to become reality when I overheard a conversation between my father and my grandpa. They were talking about a mad king. A Targaryen.

That was the moment I realized what the miracle of rebirth got me into. A world of deceptions. A world of cruel wars. A world of iron and blood. A world where you become a chess player or a chess piece. A world where your family can turn to dust in a heartbeat. A world of ice and fire.

My little heart was beating fast, and I couldn't control my emotions. I cried for the whole night, as my small body couldn't control my emotions. Why would a grown man cry so much?

The answer is simple. I loved my new life. I loved my family. The love they gave me fulfilled my heart and let me become a part of the Di Natale family, even though I felt like an alien at first.

But the knowledge of the world of Westeros and what future would be awaiting filled me with fear and panic. I didn't know where I was. If my family lived in Westeros, there was a real chance of participating in a cruel and relentless war. A war with what might be dragons or white walkers.

My family was deeply worried about me. I was an extremely smart and self-reliant child. Who would have guessed. as a grown man with a mature soul.

The next day I regained my composure. I asked my family, in the broken language I learned, if my father would go to war for the mad king. My family was very surprised, as they wouldn't expect such a question from a small toddler. My father explained very carefully, but firmly, that my family was not going to fight for the Targaryens. My grandfather fled to the middle of the ocean to escape wars and raise his family in peace, not for us to rejoin a fight for power that we managed to escape.

I was very glad. You cannot imagine. Even though my grandfather was very entangled he agreed in the end. My life returned to peace, but my questions slowly became more. At least I got many answers as I slowly grew up.

A few weeks later I finally got the answer to the location of my family. A surprisingly pleasant answer. We were living in the middle of the ocean, far from the wars of Westeros and Essos. Far from ice and fire.

Our estate was in Lys. The free state in the southwest of Essos. In the city of wine and pleasure.

After knowing his place of birth and the current timeline, 270 AC, Victor felt relieved. He will be able to grow up with his family slowly and safely, as the situation will slowly deteriorate in Westeros. The 270s AC will be quite eventful in Westeros.
