Victor arrived at the port of Dustspear in early July 279 AC. He was guarded by roughly 100 elite soldiers and 10 warships that would be protected and ready to sail at any time. But honestly, he was not afraid of any danger at this point, or he wouldn't take the slightest risk. His relationship with House Martell and Dorne was not bad. There were extensive trade connections with Dorne over the years. There was also no point in Dorne attacking the young heir of House Di Natale as they would face relentless counterattacks by Emilio Di Natale and Amando Di Natale. And if they dared to trample on the honor of the nobles by attacking a winning party, they invited to make peace talks there would be an overwhelming amount of shame on House Martell and Dorne. For the Dornish who take their honor and indomitability as their most important feature this would be unacceptable. Therefore, Victor was not only not in danger but would be extremely well protected by the nobles of Dorne. Let's not forget about his friendly relationship with Oberyn. The Red Viper would never allow a friend, without insanely large conflict of interest with House Martell, to be treated badly once visiting him at his home in Sunspear.
Sunspear is a walled settlement, protected by three massive Winding Walls, encircling one another, and containing miles of narrow alleys, hidden courts, and noisy bazaars. The Threefold Gate, where the gates are lined up one behind the other, avoids the labyrinth, instead allowing straight passage on a brick path to the Old Palace.
One of Sunspear's chief structures is the original stronghold of House Martell, the Sandship, which is a large, ugly, dun-colored building that looks like a dromond. Over time, towers in Rhoynish fashion sprung up around the keep. Two other chief structures are the tall and slender Spear Tower and the great, domed Tower of the Sun. The Spear Tower is a hundred and a half feet high and can house noble prisoners; In the Tower of the Sun, the high seats of the Prince of Dorne can be found: two twin seats, one with the Martell spear inlaid in gold upon its back, the other bearing the blazing Rhoynish sun. These two towers are the first things visitors see when they arrive at Sunspear, whether by land or by sea.
The closest thing to a true city that the Dornishmen have, the shadow city is no more than a queer, dusty town. Built against a wall of Sunspear, the shadow city spreads westwards. Closest to Sunspear's walls, mud-brick shops and windowless hovels can be found. Stables, inns, wine sinks and pillow houses are found west of those, with walls of their own. More hovels have been built against those walls, which in has led to the city becoming a labyrinth of narrow alleys, homes, and bazaars.
Around 400 BC, the three Winding Walls were raised, running through the shadow city, forming a defensive curtain. Only the Threefold Gate provides a straight path to the Old Palace, allowing visitors to pass all three of the Winding Walls directly, without having to pass through the labyrinth of the shadow city. If need be, these gates can be heavily defended.
When the warships of Lys arrived at the port of Sunspear many people were already waiting. No matter how good or bad the relationship with House Di Natale were, nobody could deny the excellence of the well-known little genius born into this noble family. After the recent events there is probably no one waiting at this port not knowing the name Victor Di Natale. Oberyn was at the forefront waiting for the arrival of his friend, with whom just over a year ago he had a large conflict with. He thought everything would go well once he returned and that he didn't need to bow his head to the little boy on the large ship in front of him. But reality showed him how insignificant he still was. After gaining knowledge about the incoming marriage of his older sister Elia he tried to stop it on several occasions, but apart from looks of disgust and disdain he didn't get any recognition at all. Even his older brother Doran thought his behavior was ridiculous. Even the hand of the king Tywin Lannister desperately wanted his only daughter Cersei to marry Raeghar Targaryen, why should the daughter of house Martell decline such an honor. They would only earn endless ridicule and suppression from the Iron Throne if they truly followed the words of Oberyn. To be fair at this point no one really expected the Usurpers' war to truly break out. Even though the current king was getting increasingly more difficult to deal with, his heir Raeghar was still up to the standard for most nobles. At worst the current king would have to step down sooner, but nobody really expected a change of dynasty now.
But Oberyn was sure that Victor thought otherwise. He already expected this engagement more than a year ago and furthermore thought it was extremely dangerous for his sister Elia and not even in the best interest of House Martell. After everything that happened in the last few months Oberyn's trust in Victor's judgement only continued to improve. He needed to have a good talk with his friend.
But before that he needed to execute the welcoming ceremony flawlessly as he presented the face of Dorne and Martell now. Afterwards they needed to participate in a large banquet in honor of House Di Natale, hopefully without too much trouble from the losing side. After the welcome banquet he would have time to invite Victor to his private residence. He was already quite curious how Victor would deal with the three little devils waiting for him at his residence.
