First Meeting of the Athenaeum Club (1)

After finally determining all the noble families that would receive invitations to the first meeting and auction of the Athenaeum Club Victor was finally relieved of this burden. In the next few days, he would let the stewards of the family handle the rest. Many noble families would want to buy low grade cloud steel weapons and even wanted to pay with many different resources.

The stewards of House Di Natale put together a detailed list of resources need and what price they would pay in the transaction. Oberyn and Randyll had to leave shortly after their deal was concluded. Randyll honestly just wanted to leave this place before he would conclude any more deals he would maybe regret in the future and Oberyn had to go back and prepare for the wedding of his sister in the second half of this year.

While some stewards were dealing with the weapon transaction, some were responsible for sending the invitations to all parts of Westeros. They used luxury ships from the Nahohr family to sail to all nine different administrative regions and pick up the representative of the invited noble families.

For some families that Victor wasn't really related to the stewards had backup options, but it was very unlikely that those options ever had to be used. Invitations to this private club would certainly not be declined, as even the transportation was free and already organized. Of course the ships were protected by House Di Natale's personal soldiers.

The day of the first meeting of the Athenaeum Club was set to be on March 1st 280 AC. This would leave enough travel time, even for the noble families of the northern and western regions and would not to be close to the wedding of Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen in the middle of the year.

Victor tried to use this time to make some plans for the upcoming war but every time he tried; he just couldn't make up his mind. His presence and actions over the last few years left to many changes in history and the weapons, armors, and drugs he was going to trade could potentially change a lot. The biggest factor was probably that House Martell was a lot more prepared for a potential war very close to Elia's wedding.

Victor didn't believe for a second that Doran Martell nor Oberyn Martell would just lay the fate of their beloved sister in his hands without taking further measures. This would simply be delusional. Nonetheless, there measures were more on the basis of a large-scale war, but Victor didn't really believe that Dorne could prevent the win of Robert Baratheon and the northern alliance.

But if Dorne really pushes hard for a victory on the battlefield, together with House Tyrell, which was loyal to the throne at the start of the war, the lion of the Westerlands might need to intervene in the war this time. In the timeline without Victor Tywin Lannister simply betrayed the crown and stages the famous Sacking of King's Landing, but this would highly likely not happen this time. But Victor was sure that Tywin Lannister wanted the Targaryen dynasty to fall, especially after the marriage with Cersei Lannister was cruelly rejected.

Overall, the Usurpers' war was going to become a lot bloodier and the casualties would increase immensely, if the prepared Dorne would attack the Stormlands together with the Reach. Furthermore, the relationship between Randyll Tarly and Oberyn Martell certainly improved due to Victor and they would highly likely be in charge of the joint attack on the Stormlands.

In the end Victor simply decided to not bother all that much about the war. It was simply impossible for any fleet to be any threat to his islands on the Stepstones and even less likely a threat to his homebase in Canahs/Lys. He could react quite easily on any changes the war would bring.

His spy agency also gathered a few very capable ravens over the years and is now able to send information from Westeros to the Stepstones and then further to Lys. He would probably support Dorne in the early stage of the war with both weapons and drugs, of course against payments and resources, but in the end he would make sure Robert Baratheon would win, as this would maximize his interest.

In the next month's Victor spent most of his time with his sisters and Ashara Dayne. During all the outings they did together their relationship drew closer and closer, and Victor could feel that Ashara really integrated into his family. Everything went way easier than he expected as he didn't understand just how mature young noble daughters would be in Westeros.

Ashara understood quite quickly that Victor would probably not let her leave again and that he had further plans for the Dayne family. And after Victor's explanation she was very sure that if Victor's prediction wouldn't go horribly wrong her future life path was already set. After she came to this realization, she finally accepted her fate and started to really integrate into the family and Lys as a whole. Nevertheless, she kept a certain distance from Victor until their relationship was set in stone. That's the education she received since childhood.

In this joyful atmosphere the time drew closer to the first meeting and at the end of february the first of the nine noble families reached the newly built resort on Dustspear. Oberyn Martell and Randyll Tarly were the first to arrive and they were very surprised at just how luxurious the resort on Dustspear truly was. Victor decided to rebuild a very famous symbol of the Athenaeum Club of his previous life.

The clubhouse has a Doric portico above which is a statue of the classical goddess of wisdom, Athena, from whom the club derives its name. The bas-relief frieze is a copy of the frieze of the Parthenon in Athens. In general Victor decided to use the greek style of architecture when when building his private club on Dustspear. Combined with the warm ocean climate he truly had a feeling of being on a island of Greece.
