< Daeryn Black POV (OC) >
Listening to the shouts of pain brought by my strong wife constantly brings trembles to my heart, especially when the blood started flowing and wouldn't stop, I knew this may be the last I see of her.
I had to stay strong in appearances to ease her, but every time I looked at her face full of agony and confusion, I almost couldn't stop myself from starting to smash things in the room to calm my anger.
I was unable to actually do anything, and that has distraught me dearly.
I can only pace myself across the room at times, other than being by the side of my wife holding her warm hands, I can see that she still tries to act tough, like she always has. So I can only do my best to silently comfort her.
I never thought I could have met someone as beautiful and charming as Olyssia, although she was the handmaiden to Princess Elia, she was also her cousin and a strong warrior too.
I actually met Olyssia through fighting, I was on the training grounds on my own after being recognized by my father the King, and that's where I saw Olyssia.
After taking off her maid garb clothing and into a soft leather battle outfit, I would watch as she danced nimbly with a spear far better than any other soldier I had seen up till now.
Grabbing my sword and shield I make my way towards her, hearing the spear imprint against the wooden dummies I can't help but feel pity for all those future enemies.
A majority of those stabs were towards… well… let's just put it, if they survive they may not want to anymore. Not everyone can become a spider.
"Excuse me M'Lady, that's some fancy battle skills you got the-"
I spoke with a clear distinctive teasing voice, but it was soon cut short due to a spear shaft swinging right in front of my face, interrupting my speech. The beautiful wielder was breathing softly with a heroic look on her face.
I slowly moved backwards to show I meant no harm, after-all, I never did mean any. She looked at me in confusion, up, down, left to right. Thinking back to it now, she was totally checking me out. I had to wait a whole year before realizing she may have truly loved me, but the more I think now, the more I believe she fell in love with me at first sight.
"Ahhh"
Turning my head out of the memories I still see my wife in dear pain and more blood starts to tumble out, I start to really get anxious at this point.
"What are you doing, help her! Give her more milk of the poppy dammit" Saying these words in a calm but angry tone.
Although I know these maesters know what they are doing, I couldn't help but want to say something. At least that can comfort me enough to actually feel like I did something instead of brooding here, unable to help my wife.
The more angsty I feel, the more my face and hands start to move around quickly, until I'm stopped by a warm touch of hands once again.
Looking up to meet Olyssa's eyes, she looks at me with a calm, lovingly reassuring smile.
Controlling my breathing, I start to think, past the blood smell and possible loss of my wife from giving birth, I am still very excited to see my new child, I will not treat him as a bastard and I will care for and love him. I will make sure of that.
With unwavering conviction and thoughts, I already decided how I would treat my future child, boy or girl. They will be able to live the life they want and get to choose what they want.
The door creaks open and turning my head I see Grand Maester Pycelle coming inside followed by the Princess.
She smiles at me gently and looks at my wife with sad and caring eyes. I watch as Pycelle scans my wife, and I start to feel a bit nauseous.
I don't know when it started, but I had never liked this man, Pycelle. He seemed like he was always up to something.
As I was about to approach Pycelle to ask what brought him here, he interrupted me first.
"Daeryn Black, you are hereby summoned by his Majesty the King Aerys, Second of his Name, to make haste towards the throne room of utmost importance, he has a job for you" being told this by a slow talker was excruciating, but eventually he got to the point, my father wants to see me?
I have not talked to him much, I could always still see the undisguised disdain he has for me, I don't think he ever really saw me as his son, but more of a substitute for his own Rhaegar, and even that was probably only for the first couple of days.
I have to wonder if he had any fatherly-son relationship left in his mind.
Nonetheless, I acknowledged hearing this from Pycelle, overlooking the room with two maesters and now three counting Pycelle, the Princess and her children with her and about nine guards.
Six of them are here to escort and protect Princess Elia and her children, while the remaining three are from me.
They were my battle-hardened buddies, and only then can I trust anyone near my wife while I was not present.
"Blake, Croody, and Raymar, I will leave my wife in your hands, I will be back shortly."
"Ser!"
"Hmmm"
"Aye, don't worry, Daeryn, your wife and child are safe with m- us."
Blake, Croody and Raymar in that order responded to my plea. Blake and Crooby were met down by the flea docks as port workers.
They were strong and agile enough to get their work done faster than anyone else, so with that idea in mind, I took them out for some hunting and sparing.
We quickly grew into friends, seemingly easy. This was not because it was forced, but due to them being very honest in personality, especially Croody who barely talks but is very nice.
Then we have Raymar, he looks a lot different from the other two, how should I put it… he looks more noble, and that's just what he is.
Raymar is a Lannister that was cast out of Casterly Rock a year ago, and we ended up becoming friends after an assassination attempt failed. Their target was me, they were from the Baratheon house.
Raymar took an arrow for me and I thought he was going to die, but the gods did not take him, and he was left alive with major injuries and needed to recuperate.
Afterwards it can be said we became friends through this, and also why I trust him with my wife and child.
Waking up from my reminisces, I once again go to my wife, I kiss her on the forehead as the taste of sweat touches my lips. In distress, I slowly caressed her cheek and with strong eyes and a strong voice.
"Olyssia darling, I will go see my father now. You must stay strong for me, okay…" I start to choke, "Do not go towards the gods, no matter how hard it gets, you must promise me this, okay?" My eyes start to cloud a bit, knowing how painful she is, but I am also selfish, and I don't want her to die after giving birth or worse before, I want her to fight with all her might.
"Hmm"
Barely an audible whisper but with her slight nodding I know she heard me and will try her best.
I slowly get up, taking one last glance before quickly making my leave for the Red Keep throne room.
Approaching the Throne Room, I see Jaimie Lannister doing his duty as the Kingsguard protecting the throne room where his King resides.
Although he should be beside the King at all times, knowing my Father now, he probably had done this for another reason.
"Jaimie" I nod my head towards the youngest Kingsguard
"Daeryn" He politely nods back to me.
"I was told that my father wants to see me, can you let me in" Although I could have just walked in knowingly, as Jaimie must be aware of my presence.
I still give my respect to these dutiful Kingsguard, it's more of a polite gesture for Jaimie to allow me access.
"Yes" Jaimie moves aside to let me enter the throne room.
Stepping into the low vision throne room, I see my father sitting on his throne with a cruel grin across his lips. It's as if my father has seen some great victory and is about to get revenge. As I quickly approach the foot of the throne, I do a proper noble bow.
"Father, you called for m-"
The sound of a goblet smashing into the side of my face, with wine spilling onto the floor, from my head.
Feeling a sense of anger rising, I was about to angrily scold, but held back, only to hear.
"Father, heh, I don't want another sound out of you, I have a task for you. Go bring the pyromancer to my throne room now, and go open those damn bloody gates for the Lannister army to come in to defend against those treasonous usurpers." After a short pause he sits in a more comfortable position, following with "Now begone from my sight."
Those cold unfeeling words left me feeling emptiness, I hesitantly looked up to my father who was clearly looking a lot older, his skin around his eyes looked a different shade, almost like a crazy person.
No, that's just what he was, a crazy person.
My father will truly go mad if this continues. I don't think I truly have ever understood my father at all until now, but now I feel it might be too late.
I had a feeling this encounter at the gate might not go exactly how my father pictures it. I have always trusted my hunch.
The last time it went off was at my assassination attempt. It was just weird that it never really went away, even after Raymar took the arrow for me.
Introduced to Madara's Native Father. A Bastard, but still has all that pure royal bloodline soothing in his veins.
