99 Chapter 96

Bahamut remained expressionless among them, but deep inside, he felt a sense of satisfaction at the unfolding events. Having Jon as part of the Targaryen family was a step closer to his vision of a united realm. Moreover, Bahamut contemplated the prospect of forming a marriage alliance with House Stark after the war if everything went according to plan.

The people of Winterfell, witnessing the interaction between the once-considered bastard and royalty, were stunned, finding it hard to believe. Bahamut, for a bit of mischief, employed magic to spread rumors among the commoners about Jon's true identity. Soon, the entire Winterfell came to know Jon as Prince Aemon of House Targaryen. The revelation created shockwaves throughout the Stark household, with some struggling to accept the newfound information.

As the rumors spread, the implications for Jon Snow became apparent. Robb Stark, in particular, supported the claim, finding himself inclined to believe the truth. Catelyn Stark, burdened by guilt for having previously condemned an innocent child due to her jealousy of his mother, now found herself yearning for Jon's forgiveness. The revelation had a similar effect on others, inspiring a mix of fear, guilt, and speechlessness among those who had mistreated Jon.

Rhaenys, finding Jon an easy target for her playful teasing compared to the more immune Aegon, refused to let go of him. Her curiosity was piqued by the wildling girl, Yigritte, who had managed to tame a shy dragon. As Jon introduced Yigritte to Rhaenys, he soon regretted it, as the two women ganged up on him in jest.

In the midst of their banter, Aithusa, appearing seemingly out of nowhere, joined the group. The dragon, about the size of a calf, had sensed Jon and Yigritte's presence and decided to join the play. Rhaenys, stunned by the unexpected appearance of Aithusa, found the dragon to be different, reminiscent of Bahamut but notably cute. Approaching Aithusa cautiously, she discovered that the dragon seemed unfazed by her presence.

However, Aithusa's playfulness soon became apparent, and Rhaenys realized it was time to leave the dragon's company. Later, Jon enlightened her about Aithusa's connection to Bahamut, confirming that the dragon shared a similar level of intelligence. Rhaenys, frustrated at Aegon for not keeping her informed about the events that unfolded during her absence, couldn't help but curse him for leaving her in the dark.

While the men gathered inside the hall to share a meal, Bahamut chose to remain outside, observing as wildlings and commoners alike came together to break bread. His leisurely stroll around Winterfell led him to Bran, who was fixated on the old tower where he had once fallen. Summer, Bran's loyal companion, sensed Bahamut's presence and alerted Bran to his arrival. Greeting the dragon with a smile, Bran's calm demeanor mirrored Bahamut's.

As they stood together, Bahamut's gaze shifted towards the Wall, and he asked Bran about the changes in his fate. In response, Bran simply looked to the sky and acknowledged, "A lot." The silence between them lingered before Bahamut posed another question, inquiring, "Do the green men exist now?" Bran's brief but affirmative reply, "They do," was sufficient to confirm that Bahamut's future plans could proceed.

Following this exchange, Bran and Bahamut shared a unique experience, witnessing a future where the Night King, accompanied by dragons, wights, and the Night Queen, approached the Wall only to find it mysteriously empty. Once the vision concluded, both men glanced at each other, sharing a knowing smile. Bran hadn't anticipated that Bahamut possessed a similar power to glimpse into the future.

Before parting ways, Bahamut, with a simple statement, conveyed his intentions: "Inform your father while I welcome our guest." With that, he walked away, leaving Bran to contemplate.

Without any delay, Bahamut soared into the sky, unleashing a mighty roar that resonated within and beyond the walls of Winterfell. Transforming into a dragon, he enveloped himself in black flames, creating a spectacle that captivated the eyes of all who witnessed it. For those fortunate enough to witness the scene, it was a breathtaking display of power and majesty. As Bahamut flew with unmatched speed, a rush of madness, a primal instinct that lay dormant for a long time, surged within him, igniting the flames of his draconic nature.
