Chapter 27

Ragnarok

The vehicles of the National Gendarmerie parked in front of the barracks of the same force with jurisdiction in Carcassonne. The first to descend was Captain Michel Dupont of the National Police with a warrant in his hand. The gendarmes guarded at the door, who knew the captain, did not know whether to resist or make the military salute. The newcomers burst into Captain Maysonet's office, and as Dupont read the arrest and search warrant, the gendarmes who accompanied him proceeded to pack computers, cell phones, and gather folders and papers in the office. Some of them continued with the seizures in the other offices of the delegation before the astonished look of the local gendarmes, the civil employees and the people who were circumstantially in the building doing paperwork.
