Getting a job

Victoria was thinking about the world she lived in, while she wasn't the most knowledgeable in her previous world, she did pay attention to events and technology there.

Suffice to say, she wasn't in her original world by a long shot, technology here seemed to progress in really strange ways, being a lot better than in her other world, but just enough to be noticeable but still within the realm of possibilities.

The entertainment industry was a bit more distinct, TV shows were still airing, movies and music were still pretty good, and even the realm of animation got some nice things due to being respected not only as entertainment but as art.

This puzzled her a bit, but in a good way, she always welcome positivity and actual good careers if they were for sake of her entertainment.

Not everything was good though.

There was a lack of a crucial—some might say even fundamental—type of entertainment in this world that simply made her mad and unfocused.

Videogames simply weren't here.

"Miss, we are already here"

"Thanks for the ride"

Paying the taxi driver, she absentminded walk towards her destination, a simply looking office building with no one inside.

Truthfully, the place she choose to work for wasn't known, it was created only a few days ago, and she was the first person to be interviewed for the position of programmer.

Victoria had the notion that whatever company she got into, it would be at least decently prosperous since it had a decent CEO.

Mia Montesdeoca was the CEO, she was a classmate of her when she studied in a programmer course, as one of only three women in the classroom and known as a cold face beauty with her own ambitions.

What Victoria didn't know, was that Mia was actually pretty spoiled and sentimental, the only reason she looked cold was that she lacked communications skills of any kind due to being spoiled and homeschooled.

Normally this would mean that being the CEO of such a young company would be detrimental to said company, but it was actually meant to be a lesson of sorts for her.

Her father deemed it necessary for her to learn to at least talk to people in a business manner. So he set up a company for her to lead.

Even if it failed, it would be a learning experience for her.

"So why are you here?"

Hearing the flat tone of Mia, Victoria grinned, she always liked the cold beauty but never really confessed, due to sheer laziness. She simply feels the need to go for all the trouble it would bring.

Now if Mia was the one pursuing and tolerating her though…

"I came here to be hired as a programmer"

"I can see that, but do you have other ulterior motives"

Victoria raised an eyebrow at the question, it was a bit on the nose so she decided to play along.

"Yes, I want to make money to support my hobby of not dying of hunger"

"…"

"And maybe buying some novels? I quite like those"

"…"

Mia just stared at Victoria's stupid grin, her confidence emanating out of seemingly nowhere with a slight blush, she really didn't expect this idiot to show up out of nowhere.

Victoria did have great qualifications, if a bit outdated by today's standards, it was good, especially since she did have a bit of that mythical 'old programmer magic', capable of squeezing the optimization out of garbage hardware.

And she really couldn't just reject her, every other interview was a disappointment, the interviewees were wary of her due to her young appearance and weird questions.

Mia had to grit her teeth through the cringe the interviewees showed, she really did believe that knowing the hobbies of the employees was crucial for this endeavor…

Moreover, she couldn't reject Victoria's genuinely kind smile now could she?

"I see, you can start working here next week"

With a nod, Mia started walking back to her office to wait if anyone else would come for said interviews.

"Um? Can I come here tomorrow?"

Mia stopped for a moment before answering without looking back.

"Sure, if you want to sit in front of a computer doing nothing"

.

.

.

"You actually came"

"Yup, hot and ready to work!"

"I don't think that's how the saying goes"

Victoria simply walked onto a free computer and sat down like it was the most normal thing in the world and…did nothing.

[Yup, I'm the greatest worker in the world]

While Victoria nodded to herself Mia sighed, deeply, to try and alleviate the headache that Victoria was causing her, she was paying the idiot to stay here doing nothing. Well, even she didn't know what she was doing.

Her company was supposed to make software…

Of what kind? She had no idea. Mia was a bit confused about what to do at the moment, normally at this point, she was supposed to get a series of tasks to complete and she would do them to the best of her abilities.

But now SHE was the one supposed to make said task.

Well, Mia supposed that inspiration would come eventually to her, in the meantime, she would slowly and patiently wait for more employees.

Now if only she knew what to do with Victoria…

Mia simply stared at Victoria, who upon noticing her smiled and waved from her computer. Mia simply nodded and continued to wait.

There are only two employees at the moment, Victoria and the receptionist. Mia hoped to get at least 20 people to start… something.
