Both Tian Jun and Tian Meiying kept bowing, making me feel a little awkward. "Raise your heads already..." I gave in, and immediately both of them raised their heads. Tian Jun looked a little unhappy, while Tian Meiying beamed. "What are you two here for?" I bluntly questioned.
Tian Meiying stepped forward with a smile, "I am close to becoming a high human, in other words, level 100, and once the news of there being a beast in the monster tide came, I rushed here. Jun here was a little worried, so he joined me. Initially, I only planned to kill the beast and leave, but seeing the players, adventurers, and guards work, I stayed to watch," she explained. I was a little surprised by her openness, but my title of The Strongest Player wasn't a joke, so this was understandable. Her face became a little downcast.
"I can understand why you may think that we are here to take credit. Us nobles stepping into the battlefield would certainly influence the masses to think that we were the ones who led the annihilation of the monster tide," her tone was a little down and a little sad as well.
A fat lie... girl, I live in a high society that had its foundation built on a pile of lies. Your attempt to lie to me is pretty pathetic. Haa, I really want to call her out, but messing with a noble family is more annoying, so I will let this slide.
I could see Tian Jun's eyes squint, and I could see the discomfort in him. "I see, but unfortunately, I still can't let you kill the beast," I directly rejected even before either one could ask about the beast.
This game of little politics and manipulation was an everyday game for me, so I knew where she was going with this. If Tian Jun was the one to ask, I might have considered it to study his character, but since Tian Meiying was the one to act as the spokesperson for both of them, I had to play it off.
Tian Meiying was a clear manipulator; I didn't need to know much about her. But Tian Jun was another matter. He is clearly more honest about his emotions and can't hide them well enough, but that isn't enough to determine his character.
Tian Meiying smiled softly and stepped in front of me, puffing out her chest, her E cup nearly touching me... a light seduction? Trying to influence me... I already deal with Eleis who tempts me on a daily basis, a little of this is not doing anything.
"How about this, we cooperate to kill the beast? From the spell earlier, you should have drained your mana, so it would be better if we fight it together~!" she cheerily said.
"Sigh... fine," I acted like I gave in, making her beam, but this was way better than them knowing that I am not a mage... my status effect is also running out, I got 8 minutes. It should be enough to deal with the beast with their help, but not sure about dealing with them after... what a pinch.
"Let's go before the beast recovers," I hurried them, but Tian Jun only stood there while Tian Meiying walked ahead. She turned to me as if asking if I was coming or not.
I glanced at Tian Jun and walked ahead. Tian Meiying threw a light glare at Tian Jun and, without wasting time, started to sprint towards the beast. What a pity, if Tian Jun had tagged along, I might have learned a thing or two about him... But oh well, Tian Meiying and Tian Jun both being at odds is better than nothing, I guess.
I sprinted and used my skill Quickstep at every step, closing the distance between Tian Meiying and surpassing her quite easily. But Tian Meiying wasn't slow; she sped up and matched my pace. I slowed down a bit, letting her match pace.
On our way, I couldn't help but look at her dress, which had a light blue hue, almost invisible to the naked eye surrounding her. Her clothes were enchanted... I should also get my armor enchanted or have hieroglyphics engraved, it would really help.
I made a mental note and continued to sprint toward the hilltop where the horror beast had been standing before falling back.
---omniscient pov---
Two minutes. It took Tian Meiying and Ken two minutes to reach the hilltop. They were about 14 km away from the city.
Covering a distance of 14 km in 2 minutes was incredible, but considering the use of Quickstep by Ken and Tian Meiying's clothes being enchanted, it was reasonable... kind of.
Looking down the hilltop, the horror beast GrimDark was present down there, inside a pond. "Well, this is bad..." Ken mumbled as he stared at the beast that was soaked in the pond that was turning green.
The Toxic Tempest collapsed on it, making all the poison stick to it, and now the pond took away the poison from its body. "Toxic Tempest, it's a spell that uses a poison that slows the function of the body. Common monsters below level 50 would die very fast upon contact with the poison, but for stronger monsters, it would slowly kill them by slowing down organ function. And for beasts, it would do nothing except cause irritation throughout the body," Ken described the spell he used and its effects out loud.
Tian Meiying narrowed her eyes as she processed the information Ken gave out. "Going into the pond is a no-go while the beast won't come out until the poison stops irritating it," Ken analyzed.
"Unfortunately, I am a swordswoman. I have nothing that can harm the beast if it's in the pond... unless I go in," Tian Meiying hesitantly muttered the last part as she looked at Ken. 'I should have brought a set of clothes...' she regretfully thought as she looked at the nearly green pond. "Sigh... I am not immune to poison, so I am of no help here," she directly informed, not beating around the bush.
"I am not immune as well, and water fights aren't my thing..." Ken helplessly informed.
Tian Meiying took a deep breath. "Might I know if you have any detoxifying spells? And a drying spell?" she asked and looked away.
Ken looked at her, confused, but then a thought clicked in his mind. "I have both spells, but I don't think you should be going into the pond. As far as I am aware, noble ladies aren't supposed to reveal their bodies to anyone except for their partner. The dress you are wearing will become transparent if wet..." Ken stated, making Tian Meiying's face a little red.
She looked at the beast with a little desperation in her eyes but not so much that she would jump in. "Well... I wouldn't mind having you as my partner..." she muttered under her breath. 'Having the Strongest Player would really benefit the Tian family... maybe I should,' she thought to this point and stepped in front of Ken, who had already guessed her thought and had a deadpan face.
"No..." Ken rejected even before she asked, making her dumbfounded. "I will use a spell to force it out, and you deal with it," Ken made a solution on the spot. "Not the best solution, but it works," he stated and summoned the Book of Records. 'A spell...' he commanded in his mind, and the pages flipped to 504. "You should get ready to strike it down," he advised as he walked a bit down the hill.
Tian Meiying pursed her lips as she glared at Ken's back. "I am willingly offering myself up here..." she hatefully murmured to herself. "Sigh..." she sighed and headed down the hill as well, going around for extra measure so that the beast wouldn't be aware of any incoming attacks from her.
