Chapter 7: New Life

The days that followed Li Yang's showdown with Red Phoenix were a whirlwind. To his surprise, not only did Red Phoenix agree to teach him, but she also extended an invitation for him to live at her lavish villa, positioning him as her personal protégé. The prospect of being under the tutelage of the renowned Red Phoenix was thrilling, to say the least.

With his heart full of gratitude and anticipation, Li Yang hurried to share the news with Teacher Huang. The orphanage, with its worn-out walls and creaky floors, had been his home for years. Teacher Huang, with her strict yet caring demeanor, had been his guiding light through the darkness of his early years.

"I'm moving out, Teacher Huang," he announced, barely able to contain his excitement.

She looked up from her desk, eyebrows raised in surprise. "Where to?" she inquired, concern evident in her voice.

"To Red Phoenix's villa. She's taken me as her apprentice," Li Yang replied, expecting joy and approval.

But the reaction he received was starkly different. Teacher Huang's face paled, her usually composed demeanor giving way to visible distress. "Red Phoenix's place?" she whispered, disbelief in her voice.

She took a moment to compose herself. "Li Yang, do you know who you are getting involved with? Red Phoenix is not just a gambler; she's a ruthless businesswoman. There are countless rumors about her unethical dealings."

Li Yang's excitement waned slightly, replaced by a mix of confusion and determination. "But she's offering me a chance, Teacher Huang. A chance to change my life," he countered.

"I've seen many children come and go from this orphanage," Teacher Huang said, her voice trembling. "I've always hoped the best for all of you. But this... This worries me. Red Phoenix might not have your best interests at heart."

Li Yang took a deep breath. "I understand your concerns, but I have to take this opportunity. For once, my destiny is in my own hands."

The room was thick with tension, neither wanting to budge from their stance. Finally, Teacher Huang sighed, her shoulders slumping in resignation. "I can't stop you, Li Yang. But promise me you'll be careful."
