Jax and Enzo have also gotten out of the car and are now flanking us. I nod to Enzo and he disappears to the right side of the house. As soon as he's out of sight, I start walking toward the front steps.

"Princess," Jax starts, "I like you. But I also like shooting things. Don't give me a reason to shoot you."

I'm about to scold him, but then he strides towards the back of the house through the left side. I'm infuriated that Jax just threatened my wife. I understand that he's looking out for me, but no one gets to speak to her like that. I'll just have to talk to him about that later.

I hear shouting inside the house and my feet start dragging me towards it.

Without looking back, I walk up the twelve steps leading up to the front porch. I pause in front of the door, hearing the commotion inside, and my hand tightens around the handle of my gun.
