The Man

The castle wall was illuminated by a biright, full moon. The western and north-western sides were in full light, which made the gate-guards' jobs much easier. On clear, moonlit nights, the road leading up to the entrance was completely open and visible from the hilltop, where the castle stood. Sneaking in from there was impossible. Even if someone managed to get all the way up to the main gate without being seen, they would run into the small problem, that above it, on the top of the stone wall, there were two high-power floodlights, illuminating a 25 meter radius area in front of the enteance.

The western wall, where the gate was situated was the lowest one, still standing at an intimidating hight of 8 meters, while all the others ranged from 16 to 22 meters. Climbing them is not impossible, as the castle itself was built out of stone bricks. The only problem with that, were the stones themselves, as the elements and and the years have rounded down their edges. This made climbing them very hard, as a person could easily slip, even in perfectly dry weather. But there was one man, who could do it, without slipping even once, and without a single sound. Special Agent 5, George Becks of CNIA (Canadian National Intelligence Agency), could do it.

He was climbing up the wall with such speed and precision, that he could put a spider to shame. The second window from the left on the third floor, on the south-eastern wallface was the one he was going towards.

Now, it's important to mention, that not only the main entrance was guarded, but the entire castle. Guards were patrolling all around the outside wall, walking in pairs, equipped with automatic rifles and strong flashlights, and meeting up at every corner. The only exeption for this is the southern tower, which was a round structure, half sticking out of the straight castle walls. As it stood where there would normally be an 80° corner, the guards coming from either direction, couldn't see eachother. To ensure that nothing stays un-monitored, two guards were situated on small balconies, one situated on either wall, meeting the tower from two directions, and each having a door that lead to the inside. The balconies were on the second storey, and once a pair of guards arrived under one of them, the balconie-post radioed the other side, informing them of one teams arrival. If there wasn't someone else coming in the opposite direction, the pair was cleared to proceed around the base of the tower. This way, virtually no space around the castle was unguarded at a time. But those guys would only have posed any threath to master-spy; George Becks, if they happened to look up. Now the guards on the balconies were a different beast to tackle. They saw most of the tower's two sides, making it so that there was only a very thin line, where he would be completely out of sight. Then again, we're still talking about none other, than the legendary George Becks.

At the ageny, there are several stories floating around about him, that no one really knows to be true or not. Exept for those who handle the files those stories are "based off of", but those guys words don't weigh as much in the eyes of an agent. This has akkowed George Becks, to become quite the favorite among the entire staff. Even those who envied him, still liked him. George, was a good looking, charming man, with jet-black hair, bodilunes shaped by sculptors, and an award winning smile. Some girls in the office could get wet just by the mere mention of his name. Some stories say he has fought off a megalomaniac, and defused a bomb, that would have exploded under Times Squere at the start of the new millenium. Some say, he took part in an aerial battle once, and put all trained ace pilots to "shame" when he succsessfully outmanouvered three enemy fighters, and took care of all of them, all on his own, just to give the others a chance to escape. These were some of the many legends surrounding the fabled George Becks, who, as we've discussed, had no problem whatsoever, at climbing up that narrow little "gap" on the side of the tower, where he wouldn't be spotted by anyone. After climbing over to the south-eastern wallface, getting to the window was child's play. He somehow managed to pry it open without enough sound that would get him noticed, and swooped in. The room was dark, aside from a narrow, dimm line of light seeping in under the door. Agent 5 got his lighter out. He didn't want to turn the lights on, as he knew that would catch someone's attention sooner or later. In the dimm light the small lighter provided, George now knew he didn't get into the right room.
