New Year Eve - Gaining Conscious

Jason couldn't tell anything to anyone as he had promised Rachael. He had to wait until Rachael gained conscious again.

Rachael's convulsion had finally stopped. Her body was completely drenched in sweat even in this cold weather.

It was 11:00 in the night. And the dance floor had opened to take requests. While the rest of the crowd was busy enjoying the New Year party it did not turn out great for Rachael although she did enjoy a few dances.

Jason suggested to wait till midnight to see if she gained conscious. If they went home right away, her parents and everyone out there would get worried. It would be appropriate to go home after all the guests left from their home.

Also after what took place today, it would be better to discuss it with Rachael and inform her parents only if it was required.

Ethan said he will stay back with Rachael while the rest of them could go ahead with the party, just in case she woke up.

Ray muttered a spell to keep her warm and to calm her soul.He wished that Rachael would get up before the final New Year celebration at mid night. He checked the alert which the Robot has sent on his phone and knew the party at home was still on.

Luckily the party at home seemed to have been going on smooth based on the messages he was receiving.

Quite some time had passed and Ethan was lovingly looking at Rachael. He was just wondering if they had to let her enjoy the New Year Eve with her parents as per her plans rather than forcing her for this event today. Probably this would not have occurred.

He saw Ray and Sophia walking towards him. Ray told him to go and have his dinner which was arranged while they took over watching Rachael. Ethan left from there to go and have his dinner while Ray and Sophia sat on the couch.

One was not allowed to sneak into someone's thought while the person was not in conscious state, as there were high chances of disrupting ones memory in doing so and the person will completely loose his memory of life time. So Ray held back from sneaking into her thoughts although he really wanted to find out what happened with his dear sister.

One of the organisers who was passing by the couch saw people sitting on the couch in semi- darkness and therefore he instructed someone to brighten up the light.

Ray checked the time and saw there was 15 mins left for the clock to strike twelve and the New Year to usher in. He saw Ethan had finished his dinner and was walking back to where they were sitting.

Ethan after seeing his wife in this state had lost interest in the celebrations going on. He asked the rest of them go and enjoy the final celebrations organised and he would stay back.

They had decided to pack food for Rachael and leave once the New Year celebs were over, if she had not gained conscious by then.

Ray was feeling bad for both Ethan and Rachael but there was nothing much he could do at the moment other than waiting.He and Sophia both then walked towards the area were the final celebrations were held.

The crowd was waiting for the clock to strike 12 and the count down had begun. When clock finally struck twelve cheers rose up in the air with the night sky dazzling with aerial crackers. The entire city seemed to have exploded with joy.

Someone who was looking forward to celebrate the New Year had missed this. Ray had planned to make up for his sister who had missed this celebrations. He knew it was his fault that he had forced his sister this time too like the last one.

Once the celebrations were over few people continued partying and drinking, while few went to have their dinner and most of them left to head back to their homes.

Ray, Sophia, Jason and Janet came back to where Rachael and Ethan were to check on her condition and if she was still not awake Ray would go and pack food for her.

While they were discussing in a hushed tone to leave, they heard a light noise from where Rachael was sleeping. Everyone looked towards her direction and saw that Rachael was coming back to conscious.

Ethan purposely sat near her head. He knew that she had been avoiding him and he did not want her to see him first as soon as she woke up.

He gently stroked her forehead in a comforting way while Ray went to fetch some warm water for her to drink. They knew that any moment she would get up.

Once he was back Ray sat near her feet holding the glass of water.

Rachael was slowly gaining conscious and as she tried to open her eyes she saw the bright intense light and immediately brought her hand over her eyes to obstruct the light.

Ethan supported her to get up while she was trying to sit up. She wasn't aware of Ethan as only Ray and the rest of them were in her sight of view. She did not realise it was Ethan who had supported her to get up.She got her legs down the couch and sat down while Ray offered her the warm water to drink.

Her hair was crumpled and her eyes had turned blood shot red. Her brain was completely muddled and she couldn't make sense of what she went through.While she sipped the water offered to her she was intensely staring at the girl who was sleeping on the other couch.

Ray and Jason both noticed her staring at the girl but did not say anything. They looked at the girl as well and decided to check on that girl later.

"Sis, are you okay. Shall I get you some food ?" Ray asked Rachael and she nodded her head. He did not want to probe her any further and wanted to give her time and space to open up on her own.

Jason,Janet and Sophia stood near where Ray was sitting but she couldn't see Ethan. She looked around for Ethan and saw that he was sitting on her left and she hadn't noticed him. After what Rachael had seen and experienced today, it had completely shook her. This had seemed to have softened her approach towards Ethan.

Ray came back with the plate that was laden with very light food. Rachael silently took the plate from him and started nibbling on the food.

She had not spoken to anyone from the time she had gained conscious apart from nodding her head to Ray when asked for food. She seemed to have been shocked and lost in her own thoughts, while her hand and mouth seemed looked like they were mechanically doing their job.

She did not realise that the food was over but her hand and mouth continued their job, with her hand taking the empty spoon towards her mouth and the mouth continuing its chewing motion.

Jason quickly whispered to Ray it was better that they leave now and Ray called out her name to get her out from her thoughts.

"Sis, it's time to go home now"

"Huh!" Rachael was awakened from her thoughts.

She tried getting up on her own while Ray took the plate from her. She felt extremely weak and exhausted. Seeing this Ethan supported her to get up and she seemed to be okay with it and she allowed him to help her.

Things seemed to have changed a little but things would get crazier in the coming days.
