CHAPTER 1

Jimi's POV

It was a sunny day in Lagos, Nigeria and the atmosphere felt like the entrance of a furnace. I had just had two glasses of cold water from the dispenser in my office before lazily slumping into my chair exhausted from the day's work. Leah my secretary came in seconds later and announced the arrival of the new clients for the current electrical projects.

"The clients are here Mr. Solade."

"I'll be right there show them to the conference room." I groaned and she beamed back before shutting the door behind her.

As a child i usually thought being the boss was all about having a lot of money and ordering people around but it turns out that it was actually real work. I was swimming in a lot of work and the stress of it only made me wish I was solving a complicated math problem. Despite all, it was nothing I couldn't handle.

I got up and quickly left for the meeting with the clients which was scheduled to be for this afternoon. After what seemed to be hours of a really long and crucial meeting I decided to go home for the day.

My phone went out in my pocket and I pulled it out. Swiping the screen immediately I was greeted by the piercing green color of the Whatsapp logo at the top of the phone. Clicking on it, I smiled at the message I received from my girlfriend.

Hey sweetie I made dinner wanna come over and hangout,”

And by hangout you mean I replied promptly before she goes offline.

Weeeell that's left for you to find out [winks]”

Oya Na lets go there. I go show in 30 minutes. Better start stretching before I get there,”

"You are so insane LWKMD! ...trust Na I'm always stretched for you,”

You're lucky I'm not there right now ... I dey come... see you,”

I met Amaka in the university years back and we've been dating for two years now. She was a law student and sister to my roommate Chima. When I first saw her, Id admit she was very beautiful but nothing sparked because I was still getting over the Efua issue. There were a lot of things I would've loved to tell Efua but I didn't get the chance to do so. Chima had made me face reality and realize that I may never see her again and even if I did the chances of meeting her single were slim. Amaka and I became close friends and as time went on I started developing some feelings for her but I didn't ask her out until a year ago.

I pulled up at her gate and horned before seeing Musa peep out of the pinhole and then disappear to open the gate. I drove in and parked at an empty space in the spacious compound. Musa ran to me in his oversized jalabia and greeted me in his thick Hausa accent trying to produce a correct sentence but failing at it. I only chuckled and shook my head at how foolish he looked. We exchanged pleasantries, cracked a few jokes and made my way to the house. I went in to meet a very romantic atmosphere. The house was dimmed with red and purple lights. The dining table had candles and flowers everywhere. Wines, serviettes and glass cups including dishes containing dinner punctuated the surface of the glass dining table. The mouthwatering scent of fried rice and goat meat pepper soup filled the atmosphere. As I made my way to the dining table a voice came out of the cool music that played which was Adekunle Gold's Orente. I turned to see Amaka sitting seductively on the couch which I had missed earlier. She wore a long robe but undone exposing the red bikini she wore underneath it.

"Wouldn't you want to skip to dessert first? She said smirking.

I grinned devilishly as I walked over to her.

"I don't know would you like that?" I said hovering over her.

She stood and I forcefully pulled her to my chest. She gasped and I smirked. I was about to say something but she placed her finger on my lips and rose one of her legs and put it on my shoulder without breaking a sweat.

"Shut up and kiss me,"

I crashed our lips together and our lips molded slow and sensually before it gradually became rough and desperate. I quickly trailed down her jawline with my lips and located her sweet spot and made love to it. She moaned and arched her back as I cupped her right breast with my hand tweaking her nipples from outside her bra living bite marks allover her neck. She stroked my throbbing member underneath my black slacks concentrating on the head. I grunted and hissed at the wonderful feeling. She later wrapped her legs around my waist and I guided us to her room for the rest of the fun.

My head did cartwheels as the W.H.O (World Health Organization) Director-general spoke. Was it because I was black? Or maybe because I didnt go on a date with his son. This was a difficult situation.

"So what do you say Miss Coker?... Umm Miss Coker? ... Hello? "The red man with the British accent said jerking me back to reality.

"Oh yes! ... Sorry about that I was still trying to... process the news," I said trying hard to hide the shock in my voice.

"Oh okay so... are you in?"

"Can I sleep on it and get back to you?"

"Take your time and have a nice day,"

He said standing up to leave.

"And you to Dr. Adhanom," I said beaming at him.

I sighed looking at the letter on my desk. I had been offered a huge amount to lead a team of doctors of the W.H.O to Nigeria. Bloody wolves knew I couldn't resist helping people. The problem is not doing it because I could as well do it for free but the problem is the location, why Nigeria? Lately I've had more than one reason to go there but I've always evaded it. Now fate has decided to mock me. I couldn't help but think about Jimi. I've always wondered how he was and what was going on in his life. After I left Nigeria, we communicated as often as possible with each other but as time went on we became quite distant until we finally stopped talking and lost touch with each other. I'm not usually that much of a social network person but I decided to open a Facebook account but not with my name of course. I used Cynthia Ross and sent Jimi a friend request which he accepted I think a day later. I didn't want to chat with him I just wanted to see his pictures and some other information. He had turned into a very fine and handsome man. My little Jimi now keeps a Jewish styled beard. He added a lot of muscle to his body. I remember a picture I saw of him at the pool with some old friends. He looked mouthwatering with his six packs and arms that slopped like a plateau. Yes I know you all are thinking Efua Coker is now a stalker; well don't blame me these American boys are jerks. You could imagine the last guy I went on a date with tried to date rape me in the car in front of my house in fact one of the other guys made me pay the bills for our meal after the date? Not that I didn't mind doing it, just that I felt that a guy paying or offering to pay the bills after a date showed that he was a gentleman not a rich man. At least that's something I give to Nigerian boys; they always pay even if it's their last cash or borrowed money. I don't know why dating is so difficult for me here in New York. I was actually planning on remaining celibate for life but no Talia my best friend persuaded me not to give up on love and whatnot. She has all these crazy fantasies and Cinderella moments cooked up in her brain but I'm nowhere there.

Well, looks like I can't mix my personal life with work.

"Just think about the children Efua just them." I took in deep breaths, picked up my phone and dialed Mr. Adhanom.

"Hello Miss Coker made a choice yet?" He said sharply as if he had been waiting for me to call all along.

I rolled my eyes at the sound of that.

"Count me in,"

I could feel him grin devilishly over the phone.

"You won't regret this ...we will email you the details immediately,"

"Alright the have a nice day,"

"You too oh! And welcome aboard."
