Chapter 59 – Another Part-time Job

Later, Masayuki, Shigure, and Mitsu left the house and towards Mitsu's workplace, leaving the house to Emiko. Along the way, Masayuki, dressed in a suit and tie, was a bit nervous that he would never pass the job interview due to its rigidity. But, Shigure assured him that he'll definitely pass without much effort. But before they left the house, Shigure filled out Masayuki's resume for the interview for him, using what he can find about him.

Later, at 5:11 p.m., they arrived at Mitsu's workplace, and they are now outside of the interview room, waiting for Masayuki's scheduled job interview, which will occur at 5:20 p.m. Masayuki passed the short waiting time by reading a book about job interviews in Japan and its etiquette and rules. It was rigorous, but he will do anything to get that opportunity.

Then, Masayuki's name was called, and Masayuki, Shigure, and Mitsu stood up and entered into the interview room for the job interview. Inside, three people, consisted of two men and one woman are looking at Masayuki, who was standing next to a chair. Shigure and Mitsu are sitting at one side, being on a lookout just in case things would go wrong. Then, Masayuki's job interview had begun.

Reading Masayuki's resume filled by Shigure, one of the interviewers said to him, "So, you're Honda Masayuki?"

"Yes, I am," answered Masayuki. "It's nice to meet you all."

He then bowed deeply towards them as a greeting, before sitting down on the chair with a polite posture and position of his hands.

"What's your current age and grade in school?" the first male interviewer asked. "We heard from Mitsu-chan that you are currently in school."

"I am 17 years old and currently in first-year in high school," answered Masayuki back. "I restarted first-year due to personal and emotional issues."

"I see then," the second male interviewer replied, understanding his current state.

"What are your favorite hobbies?" the only female interviewer asked.

"My favorite hobbies are writing stories, reading, studying foreign languages, cooking, exercising, and cleaning."

Shigure and Mitsu are very stunned at his list of hobbies, but they make any comments or remarks or else they will be scolded.

"Okay then," the first male interviewer responded. "That was unique of you. Also, we heard from Mitsu-chan that you're a foreigner. Is that true?"

"Yes, I am a biracial, a half-Filipino, half-Japanese. My father is a Filipino and my mother is a Japanese. I was born on September 26 in Imus City, the province of Cavite, during my family's vacation in the Philippines. I am a Filipino by citizenship."

Again, Shigure and Mitsu are very stunned at his birthplace, and again they couldn't make any comments or remarks.

"Okay, quite interesting," the female interviewer.

"Can you tell us what is your full name other than your Japanese name?" the second male interviewer asked.

"My full, Filipino name is Masayuki Torre Roxas-Honda."

"Okay then, how many kanji you think you can memorize?" the first male interviewer asked.

To that Masayuki thinks for a bit, before he responded with, "Around 912 kanji. I'm still learning though."

"It's okay," the female interviewer replied back, "since you're still a student, you can also learn from this job, too."

 "Oh, thank you so much."

After that, the second male interviewer said to him, "Okay then. Since you're still a student in high school, let's say you'll start working for 2 hours a day for 4-5 times per week with an hourly wage of 1,000 yen. Is that okay?" To that Masayuki wasn't sure about that. Seeing his expression, one of the interviewers asked him if he currently have any part-time job.

Hearing that, Masayuki looked at them vigorously, "Yes, one at the convenience store. I actually planned to take this part-time job so I could earn some extra income for myself and my younger sister. We lived in an apartment so we pay rent monthly."

"I see then," the female interviewer responded back. "Are you and your younger sister orphans?"

"No, due to a family dispute and disagreement, me and my younger sister decided to leave home and live on our own."

Understanding his current state, the three interviewers decided to let that one pass, and one of them asked him to give him his phone number of the manager of his current part-time.

Masayuki did so, and that interviewer dialed the number.

What had happened next is a back-and-forth negotiation between him and Masayuki's boss, the convenience store manager.

Masayuki was a bit nervous about that, so as Shigure and Mitsu, who were thinking that he'll never pass that job interview.

But, those anxieties disappeared when that interviewer said to Masayuki that his current boss had decided to allow him to take another part-time job due to his hard work and willingness to learn.

Because of that Masayuki was shocked with positivity, and he stand up and bowed his head deeply in gratitude for a few seconds. "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome, Honda-san," the female interviewer replied back positively.

"As for dress code, you may wear what color you want, as long as it was button up shirt and necktie," the second male interviewer.

Because of that fair dress code, Masayuki was happy to accept that. "Okay then."

Seeing how energetic the young biracial was, the female interviewer said to him, "Congratulations, you're hired. You may start tomorrow morning."

"Yes, your current boss said that he will readjust the working hours of your first part-time job for this new one," the second male interviewer.

Masayuki was more than happy with tears of joy, and said to them that he'll do his best on the first day.

Shigure and Mitsu sighed in relief to see that he had passed that job interview.
