Fruits Basket: Tohru's Cousin and Kyo's Brother

What if Tohru had two more cousins and Kyo had a younger brother who was the dog of the zodiac? Their lives turned around when two of them decided to leave their family and lived the life of a lone wolf. And also, I would like to tell the story of Fruits Basket from the perspective of a fan-fic character, but also add some parts to the lives of the fan-fic characters. Masayuki Honda is a 17-year-old Filipino biracial living in Japan and the maternal cousin of Tohru Honda who was supportive of her. Handa Sohma is the younger brother of Kyo Sohma and the dog of the zodiac who was his supporter. They both have something in common: They are sympathetic to their sufferings. Will they escape such suffering of theirs and even their own? Warning: The pictures on the cover are NOT mine!!! Credits goes to the original owners!

Chapter 58 – Now Co-Editor

A couple of days later, Masayuki and Emiko are at Shigure's house, as usual, after school, to hang out with Shigure. Tohru, Kyo, Yuki, and Handa went out shopping. In the dining room, Masayuki was writing in his journal while Emiko was making coffee in the kitchen. Shigure was reading his newspaper, as usual. Then, Mitsu appeared in their front door and rang the doorbell. Masayuki then responded by going to the door to open it.

"Oh, hey there, Mitsu-san," he greeted.

"Hi there, Mr. Honda," Mitsu greeted back.

Shigure and Emiko then looked at them.

"What brings you here?" Masayuki asked.

"I had good news for you, Masayuki," Mitsu replied.

 "Okay then, come in."

Mitsu then went in, and Masayuki closed the door.

Not long after, as Emiko pours some coffee for her, Mitsu pulls out something from her bag. It was Shigure's latest book, with Masayuki's name listed as co-editor in the front cover. The name was set to the Japanese way of naming.

She then showed it to Masayuki. "Here's what Shigure's manuscript turned out."

When Masayuki and Shigure looked at it, they were both surprised.

 "Woah..."

"What the...? You actually did it?!"

Mitsu then smiled and nodded. "How was it?"

Masayuki was agitated by it so he asked back, "So, what does the readers and publishers think about?"

Mitsu then stopped smiling. "It's fine. They actually owed some credit to you for helping me edit it."

"N-No, it's fine! I don't need any credit at all. I just loved to help out, that's all. I can stand out at school and on the internet, but not on public."

But, Shigure said to him, "Come on, Masayuki-kun, that might improve your writing skills, too, you know."

"Writing skills?" Mitsu asked while looking at them.

Shigure then looked at his editor. "Oh, I almost forgot. He's also a writer on the internet."

 "Wait, what?"

"Yeah, I wrote English stories on the internet, and earned some money from it."

 "I see."

Mitsu then grabbed the cup of coffee and took a sip.

After that, she said to Masayuki, "Anyway, my publishers wanted to have a job interview with you."

Masayuki and Emiko are stunned to hear that.

"A job interview? As in, an actual job?"

"Yes, and if you are a student," Mitsu explained, "we'll set your working hours to part-time. Is that okay?"

Masayuki then began to think about it.

This also connects to his idea of getting another part-time job so he would keep his bank account stable.

Eventually, Masayuki agrees and asked if he needs to be formal in clothing.

"Yes, you need to be formal," Mitsu answered back.

Masayuki knows what clothes he needs to wear for the job interview.

But Shigure offers to let him burrow his suit and tie.

Masayuki at first declines the offer, but eventually gave in because he has no time to go down to his apartment to dress up for the interview.
