Chapter One

Beta Charles squirmed uncomfortably as Alpha Alexander stared at him waiting for an answer. How would he tell the king that he doesn't want his precious daughter to fall into his bloodthirsty claws and didn't he know that there was something like a mate? what if his precious daughter finds her mate, what would happen then? He braced himself.

" Your highness, I'm really honored that you want to make my daughter your Luna but I don't think it's possible, what if you find your mate? What would happen to my daughter then?" The Beta said trying his best to be as respectful as possible even though he was seething within. Who doesn't know about Alpha Alexander, the Alpha king of all werewolves whose very name struck fear into the heart of all pack members, he was a towering figure with a commanding presence. His piercing gaze and thunderous voice sent shivers down the spines of all who dared to cross his path. What kind of father would give out their daughter to a man like him.

"Are you making fun of me or as one of my most trusted Beta do you not know that I am not destined to have a mate?" The king's stern voice sounded.

Beta Charles shivered " I'm so sorry your highness, I just thought…"

"Enough. Go home and consider this, you're dismissed"

"Yes, your highness I'll think about this and give you a reply" of course no good will come out from thinking about this even if he was given a month because it wouldn't change the fact that he couldn't refuse the king but he just didn't want to be anywhere near the king right now, his aura was too suffocating.

His daughter was waiting outside for him and he couldn't understand why she had to come today of all days to see him when the king decided to come back from his visit to the neighboring packs.

"Dad!" Athena squealed when she saw him and she hooked her hand around his arm.

Beta Charles smiled " you're screaming like you didn't just see me this morning before I left for work" he looked at the ray of sunshine before him and wondered why the Alpha king decided to make her his Luna just because he likes her eyes.

"Why? Can't I miss you every minute of the day?" the eighteen year old Athena pouted.

Beta Charles looked at his daughter and chucked. Even though she was eighteen, she still behaved like she was three. She was a girl who radiates a natural liveliness that is hard to miss, always full of curiosity and an infectious laughter, her energy is always contagious and her enthusiasm lights up every room she walks into. She was a pure girl who is untainted by the evil of the world, always heavily protected by her parents and two protective elder brothers. It was no wonder the king decided to marry her but as proud as he was for his daughter for capturing the eyes of the king he was scared of her future. Would she still be the lively girl or would his darkness taint her?

"What brings my lovely princess here?" he laughed, trying not to let his sadness show. "And why I can't I see your bodyguards?" he was referring to her brothers

With a proud smile Athena said " I sneaked out and they didn't even notice, can you believe it!" she ended the statement with an excited jump.

"I'm so proud of you my princess I wonder how their faces would be when they realize that you sneaked out under their noses" he said humoring her. He knew that she could never outsmart her brothers, they were too protective of her to be oblivious of her movements, he was very sure that they were in the bushes looking at her from afar and making sure she wasn't hurt and the figures lurking around in the bushes confirmed his thoughts. He shook his head and wondered who they got their sister complex from, he was sure it wasn't him...or maybe?

" I planned a huge surprise for you, you will love it" Athena told him .

"And is there any special occasion today?"

"it's your birthday silly" she giggled proud that she was always the first to remember it. This was something about her that always amused her dad, every year his mate and sons would purposely forget his birthday giving her the opportunity to feel so proud of herself for saving the day, he was very sure this idea was brought up by her two bodyguards at home and he would always wonder why she didn't notice anything weird.

"let's go before those at home will remember"

She dragged him off unaware of the dark eyes staring at them through the window.
