3 Chapter Three

*Hope*

I woke up to a splitting headache and the beeps of a heart monitor. My poor mother was sleeping in a chair, her hair a mess and dried tears were visible on her face. I felt tears threatening to spill, my cheeks getting hotter.

A soft gasp escaped me when I realized I had another chance at life. I wondered who saved me and why they did it. My heart longed to thank them for saving me, for giving me another chance. My mother awoke to my sobs and hugged me while she cried.

Our tears soiled each other clothes, I apologized profusely to my mother. "Don't apologize to me, I should apologize to you, I was not there for you enough" my mother mustered through sobs. I hugged her and thanked God and the kind person who saved me.

Thinking about that I asked my mother what happened and she explained that a young man saw me jumping in and saved me. She handed me a card he gave her. It had a phone number and a note of encouragement written in neat cursive.

I pondered in whether I should call him. I wanted to thank him but it's embarrassing to think someone had seen me in such a messy state. I saved the mans number into my contacts and saved the letter card in my phone case. I didn't know when I should call him and if I would ever have the guts to.

*A week later*

I was discharged after nearly 6 days the doctors and nurses were very careful with me and had treated me so well. I had made a promise to myself that because I had another chance to live I would strive for the best in me. I wanted to make my mother proud and even more myself.

When we got home I was engulfed with a hug from my siblings, my 16-year-old sister, Cleo and my brothers who are twins. Although they are only 10-year-Olds, Charlie and Adam are the brightest ones of my siblings and I. My mother always teases us about it from time to time.

My sister and I were really close when we were younger but drifted apart when my father passed away. My mother was a month and a half pregnant with my brothers and almost lost them due to stress. They were born prematurely at 7 months.

My mom was always the boss of the house and after my fathers passing had to raise my siblings and I all by her self. She always gave us the best and made sure we were warm and fed. Since I was little I always wanted to grow up to be the sole provider to my mother and siblings. And now I was more determined than ever.
