170 Issue #12

Martha finally climbed over the last edge before she reached the peak of the mountain. When she finally arrived, several of the others glared at her.

"Finally got here," Santo spat out

Laura glared at him before walking over and passing Martha a bottle of water. Laura and Melody began patting the young girl on her back to help her feel better.

"No need to mind him. Besides Laura and Ana, everyone else was late. And there is no need to compare yourself to them," Melody tried to comfort Martha. Laura and Anatasia nodded on the side in agreement with Melody. They also knew that they were physically much better than the rest of the teens.

With Melody and Laura backing her, Santo and Brian didn't dare to try and voice their complaints anymore. All they could do was shut up as they set up camp.

The top of the mountain was pretty much a large forest with a few small clearings around it. The clearing that the group chose was close to the edge so that they could make a quick escape and made it harder to surround them.

The jobs around the camp were divided pretty evenly. Laura and Anatasia went around looking for firewood together while everyone other than the telepaths set up the campsite. These two were in the best shape and could kill a bear if one came after them.

Within 20 minutes, they had gathered enough firewood to sustain them for 2 nights and they were able to hunt a few rabbits.

When they brought their findings back to the camp, the others were surprised and super happy. Stella had been in charge of supplies and food for all of them and she had only given them granola bars to eat. The meat that the pair brought back was greatly appreciated.

The group of students gathered around the bonfire as Laura and Ana began to skin the rabbits before cooking them over a smaller campfire.

"So what do you think Mr. Frost will do to us?" Melody asked feeling frustrated. She hated the feeling of letting Jack down since he had upgraded her powers and made her feel useful.

"Not sure. But if Mum is whispering in his ears, then I am sure it will be something reasonable," the 5-in-one said, hoping that they would be spared by their mother

"You must be very confused since you're her daughters. Ms. Frost rides us harder than she probably rides Mr. Frost," Julian knew that it wouldn't be so easy

"What I wouldn't give to have Ms. Frost ride..." Quentin started before a stick was thrown at his head. He turned in the direction of who threw it, ready to yell at them but when he saw it was Laura, Quentin instantly deflated

"You're seriously dumb. Mr. Frost already gets annoyed at you easily but you really want to make comments about his fiancee like that when he could be deciding how he wants to torture us?" Cessily complained, already feeling like they were not going to have a full night's rest

The others also glared at Quentin when they heard Cessily's logic. Quentin was basically pissing off the DM while playing D&D and not expecting a PK or a TPK. If it was the former and he was only harming himself, no one else would mind. But in such a situation, it was more likely that they would all get punished the same amount as him.

And just like they were expecting, Jack looked down at them in fury. He really wanted to break both Quentin's legs and the little toe he had that was between his legs.

"I was just going to make them face zombies in a telepathic illusion. But since he wants a harsher punishment, I can definitely grant it to him!"

Stella laughed at Quentin and was silently thanking him. She had been requesting for her father to make the test harder but he refused since this was their first outdoor survival. Yet one sentence from an idiot changed his mind.

Rachel and Emma looked at the pair before sharing a look and shaking their heads.

"Ms. Frost. Your daughter really takes after her father."

"Indeed, she does. And you can just call me Emma or Mum, Dear."

Rachel smiled and called out to Emma as she wanted.

"Mum," Rachel said shyly. Emma smiled and pet the young woman's head before turning her attention back to Jack and Stella. The father-daughter pair was laughing maniacally as they began their preparations to torture the kids.

'You fools! At least hold back a little until we get the girl officially into our family. Then you can show her how twisted you two are.'

Emma sighed as she had to be the calmest one in the group.

Down at the camping site, the group had just finished their dinner and were about to split off into their respective tents. But first, they had to decide on the night watch order.

"I say that me and Laura go first for a few hours. Then we can have Brian and Anastasia after that. Melody and Kevin will take the last shift," Julian suggested

The rest were quick to agree, mainly because they were tired and just wanted to get in bed. So they climbed into their tents and quickly fell asleep while Laura and Julian sat next to the bonfire.

Laura was vigilantly looking around while Julian was more casual about their night watch. Instead, his attention was mainly on Laura. He decided on the night watch pairs, not because of skills but because both of his teammates said they were interested in the other girls. And since Julian was interested in Laura, he decided to join in on their plot.

"So..." Julian tried to start a conversation with Laura, wanting to get to know her better

"So?" Laura replied, still focused on their surroundings

"I hear that you are very close to Mr. Frost. Any idea of what he will throw at us?" Julian didn't want to directly start talking about her so he decided to instead start with her weak spot, Jack.

He noticed that she was very respectful of the man and had even heard about her fight with Felicia because of Jack. He also wanted to make sure he wasn't pursuing a dead-end in case Laura had romantic feelings for her teacher.

"If we still had our powers, he would have sent around 5 or 6 Sentinels at us before Quentin. But without our powers, it would most likely have been some sort of telepathic illusion. But thanks to his mouth, Mr. Frost will most likely have us perform in live combat," Laura analyzed

"Huh. You seem to really know Mr. Frost," Julian continued to probe

"Of course," Laura smiled proudly when she heard Julian say that. "I am his first official student after all. I'm practically his daughter."

"You like being thought of as his daughter? You don't have any romantic feel..." Julian stopped talking as he saw Laura's face get darker and darker the more he spoke. He even thought that he felt some killing intent being released from the young woman.

'Ok. She is not interested in Mr. Frost and will get pissed if I disrespect him. This has put me a little behind but I'm glad I got the info. Now I also know the best way to her heart is through him,' Julian began planning how he would get Laura interested in him

Julian was about to say something else but Laura held up her hand to silence. She looked around carefully before her eyes bulged. Pulling out the knife she had, Laura called out to the others.

"We're under attack!"

The other students were quick on their feet as they held sticks and knives, ready for the oncoming attack.

The woods around them was quiet. No one was sure what to expect. But soon, they saw who their enemy was. Out of the forest, several skeletons with glowing green eyes stumbled toward them.
